  1. Miami has used a 2nd rounder on a QB in three consecutive drafts, and signed a veteran before last season, and they still need to go out and trade for a crappy veteran journeyman? That is Bear-like. Well consider there isn't a Jay Cutler esque QB available, what else you want the Dolphins to do? I hear Dan Marino wants to give it a go one more time. Jeff Garcia was just let go by the Eagles.
  2. I'm not necessariliy criticizing the move, more the fact that they put themselves in this position. Chad was never going to be the longterm solution. He's a brittle guy with a weak arm and he's missed big chunks of time in most of his seasons. That's 3 straight 2nd round picks on a QB and now some sort of draft pick for another, and they still don't have a clear QB of the future. Man, that does sound like a bears conversation doesn't it?

  4. Such a weird start for them.
  5. I think I need to root for a GB win. Minny is too high over beating a couple bad teams and then getting a lucky Favre pass to beat the Niners. A 3-way tie for first after 4 weeks would be something I'd feel pretty good about considering the schedules each of the teams has played.
  6. So what do you REALLY think?
  7. I do. It's typical sportwriter tripe. Rather than praising Knox for his catches or discussing the amazing growth a 5th round pick from Abilene Christian has made, Haugh weaves his pro-Knox article into a broader story about who is making who better, the WR or the QB. He has a flawed premise, but he sticks with it inserts the Knox story into his narrative -- irrespective of facts or game conditions. I've long been a fan of the Sun Times coverage of the Bears over the Tribune's. After reading this article, I've pretty much concluded that Haugh and Tribune aren't worth the bother. Why is it so hard to find good Bears coverage? He'd already done that article last week: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-21-tab-haugh-bearssep21,0,2870980.column He can't write the same stuff every week, so instead he writes about how the receivers sometimes help the QB. Again, I'm not seeing the issue. Nobody is saying that Cutler isn't good. Haugh is a good columnist. Tribune has a lot of bad writers...Haugh isn't one of them. I will say I have grown to like Biggs better though.
  8. The article is simply highlighting how well the receivers have played with a little bit of hyperbole introducing it. If the WR's had been playing like crap and he was writing some fluff article, well then fine. But they have played well and did make some plays on some balls that weren't thrown perfectly. I don't see the problem. I don't think he ever says that Cutler didn't have anything to do with it. I think he was simply highlighting the WR contributions.
  9. What's your issue? The headline? Cuz I'm sure David Haugh didn't write that. If you're saying that's an anti-Cutler article, I disagree strongly.
  10. http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=6152  :D This is something where Bear fans will think of it as a good thing, and opposing fans will see it as whining. I watched his postgame. He was laughing when he said that. He actually was really funny during that pc. They asked him about the shovel pass and he said something like "Well I saw Brett do that a lot so I thought I'd try it. I don't think I'll be adding that to my repertoire too often."
  11. Well his first game was a 26 rating. It'd be awfully hard to not improve from that. I dunno... I guess I'm having a hard time getting too worked up over a guy who's "improved" to an average QB rating against one of the worst teams in the league. I'm not writing the guy off, but he's a rookie QB, and like most of them (although less of them lately), rookie QB's tend to be....unsteady.
  12. Vomit. Exactly, but you can see that hardly anyone now and day's play baseball just because you can that's why there is steroids in the game and salaries are so high. One of many reasons as to why baseball isn't what it use to be. This is my favorite part if you were wondering.
  13. If our basis of "improvement" is going from 3 picks to 2 picks from week 1 to 2, I'm calling the difference negligible. My point was the drop to zero was against a far inferior opponent than the first two. I don't think he's gotten worse...but I'm just not sure he's really gotten significantly better. The Redskins have allowed 351, 362, and 381 total yards in the first 3 games. The Saints and Vikings have only allowed one 300 yard game out of 5.
  14. Not to determine future performance, just to show the improvement a rookie is making. Whether that continues or not is still in question, but Stafford has shown definite improvement since his first NFL game. The "improvement" also goes right along with the quality of football team. NO, Vikes, Washington. Is it really improvement? Or just decrease in the level of competition?
  15. Are you guys really using a 3 game stretch to determine future performance?
  16. Mare missed 2 FG's and Gould missed 1. The 1 Gould missed should have never been kicked, and the Bears should have punted to pin Seattle deep in their own territory. Had they done that, Im pretty confident Seattle doesnt drive the length of the field for a TD. Of course, if the Hillenmyer knows how to tackle the Seahawks probably only get a FG instead of a 39-yrd td... That was more on Tillman, imo, but yeah...that was bad. I was going to add the second player but I couldn't remember who it was. Yeah, that was probably one of the most pathetic attempts at a tackle I've ever seen. Well Tillman was going for the strip for sure...and I think Hillenmeyer though he was just helping cleanup the tackle...

  18. Sitting Gore turned out to be genius.
  19. Favre made a lucky late pass. The media may be wetting their collective panties, but I'm not.
  20. For as much flack as he took in the offseason/preseason, Hillenmeyer has really been good in Urlacher's absence. I don't know that he's been spectacular, but he's filled in admirably.
  21. Having the Lions in your division will create stats like this.
  22. I hate watching live sports on DVR. Plus I have to catch most Bears games online. Live sports dvr'd is great! You can fast forward through time outs, replays of 4 yard gains, and replays of things that are obvious to a 2 year old. You catch up in no time at all.
  23. Hey hey just like the Packers! I'MMA LET YOU FINISH UMFAN BUT THE BENGALS BEAT THE PACKERS 2 WEEKS AGO Err....that was one week ago.
