  1. Game 1 was the was the highest rated Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final since Sabres/Stars Game 1 on FOX in ‘99. It was up 12% over last year's game 1.
  2. That seems like a pretty big overreaction to a bad game.
  3. Good lord does that bring back memories.
  4. So here's what I took out of the game last night. 1) Niemi wasn't as bad as he looked out there. There were some bad bounces, and bad D in front of him. He's gonna get beat high if they're able to go there....that's definitely a weakness for him. I think you just have to accept that though. 2) The bounces went Philly's way tonight. 3) Turnovers...ugh...that really hurt us tonight. 4) I don't see the Hawks playing worse than this in the series. 5) The Toews line was useless tonight. I'm sure that says a lot about the line playing against them, but nonetheless...that can't continue. Is it weird to say that I'm more confident after this game? The Hawks got better as they went, and if they just play like they did in the 3rd period the rest of the series, we're gonna win this thing.
  5. Why should an umpire care? He has something better to do?
  6. Zambrano for Lowell!! :stickman:
  7. Batters completely erase the back line of the batters box so they can stand further back too. Big deal.
  8. The MJ statue at the UC has a Toews jersey, helmet, and skate blades on.... http://www.wgntv.com/videobeta/642d6c78-f3d6-467c-8f76-3aefc8ea9f9d/Sports/Jordan-Statue-Dons-Blackhawks-Jersey
  9. Haha...fantastic. http://nhl.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p8000126dt.jpg http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4249603
  10. My recollection is that Bernstein is a closet fan and Boers is downright hostile toward hockey. Is that pretty much still the deal? Boers isn't hostile toward hockey at this point that I've noticed, but he's also pretty quiet when the topic comes up.
  11. :(
  12. JR should have stepped aside and let Jordan buy the team from him. And just to show even more loyalty, JR should probably have given him a nice deal too, because of all Jordan's done for the Bulls. And remember when Pip said he wanted to coach and the Bulls didnt take him seriously and hired VDN? Well they should have just hired Pippen on the spot when he made those quotes. Did Wade stop to consider that Johnny Kerr was the team's broadcaster for like 30 years, Norm Van Lier was a longtime pre and postgame commentator for Sportschannel/Fox Sports Chicago/CSN Chicago (while not directly affiliated with Bulls, I'm sure the Bulls had something to do with that), Bob Love still has a job with the organization, John Paxson was the radio color guy, then our GM and now a VP, Bill Cartwright was given a chance to be the coach, Scottie Pippen was resigned to finish his career in Chicago, Bill Wennington is the radio color guy, Pete Myers is a longtime assistant coach. I'm sure there are still some I am missing. Lindsay Hunter was brought back to the front office. So was John Paxson. And Bill Cartwright got a shot at coaching. Ugh...I should've read the quotes...lol...I'm having a bit of a brain dead day.

  16. Forgive my ignorance, but are they putting that ON the ice? That's what it looks like there, but I always assumed that it went UNDER the ice. I believe what they do is paint it on the exposed ice surface and then put a layer of ice over it. Yeah, that's my impression as well. Not sure how else you'd do it.
  17. You could've just said "I will scream". Hell no. I've been arguing that with two copy editors I know in the last couple of days. Yes, technically, it started out as "Final" because there is only one, unlike semifinals or quarterfinals. But common usage has to prevail at some point, and everyone says "Finals." My rationalization is that it's a series of games...therefore, Finals. If it was one game, it would be "Final". But it appears the NHL agrees that it's just "Final"... http://www.nhl.com/cup/round4/index.html

  19. I dunno...Dan Bernstein and Dan Mcneil, at the very least, are big hockey fans. I'm sure there are some guys that are uncomfortable with the hockey discussion...I don't listen to ESPN 1000 down here because it's got a weaker signal than The Score...but there are a few that actually do know what they're talking about. It's just that I think these guys typically are directed to talk about other sports because hockey doesn't draw listeners...or at least it didn't used to. Right, that's 2 out of dozens though. Well...I named those 2 only because they're the ones I hear mostly...I just can't speak to the rest.

  21. How'd hccf get signed into Ozzie's account?
  22. No team has ever played a home game in the Superbowl. I realize the Jets wouldn't be "home" in that scenario, but still. The chances are always there for that, no matter the locale. If the Super Bowl is in Miami, and the Falcons make the Super Bowl against say...the Seahawks....there's definitely an advantage fan-wise there too. At that point, I'd probably have more of a problem with the Super Bowl featuring two NFC teams. Ha...was just thinking of the furthest northwest team I could...it's early, leave me alone. :glare:
