  1. That's a bit of an assumption. But I guess time will tell.

  3. The "pitcher must face 3 batters" rule is a lot more tolerable with it not taking effect across innings.
  4. It probably won't shorten game time at all. Any time saved by not making a pitching change will be offset by a pitcher afraid to throw strikes to a guy he doesn't feel he can get out, and/or shenanigans teams will apply to get around the rule. And any rule that favors the offense does not cut time out of the game. It's just such a pointlessly dumb rule. Wait...Time saved from no pitching changes is offset by a pitcher being scared? I'm not telling you to love, or even like the rule...and the time saved may be pretty minimal...but that seems like a pretty flimsy argument.
  5. There's no real concrete details on how this would work...but we won't let that stop us from being sure how it will impact the game!
  6. i will say this much...with the 3 batter minimum, there should be an additional rule that a pinch hitter can't be pulled before facing a batter.
  7. Baseball manager: "If I tug on my ear once and then touch my belt buckle, then have your next pitch sail wide and crumple to the ground in pain as if your arm just exploded." That's how to overcome such a scenario as you propose. If that happens baseball will be real quick to mandate a certain number of games pitchers have to miss if pulled from games due to injury.
  8. It really is, it fundamentally changes things. Not that I'd want this either, but it's especially dumb that the pitcher has to face at least 3 batters, but there are no restrictions on how many pinch-hitters you can use in one inning. This rule 100% favors the offense Well right, but that's the point. Baseball, for most people, is more interesting when things are happening...runners on the bases, runs being scored. While there's lot of baseball nerdery to enjoy in playing the matchup game, it's boring as hell to watch. This doesn't eliminate matchup strategy...it changes it. It's a big change, and I understand why people don't like it...it's probably not a choice I'd have made, but I don't think it's going to be as terrible as you guys think.
  9. God Barstool is the horsefeathering worst. [tweet]https://twitter.com/miel/status/1102688419556159489[/tweet]
  10. At the very least, Javy didn't know his name.

  12. So Zobrist and Heyward both played the same day the Bryce agreed with the Phillies? Maybe whatever the Cubs were trying to do fell through and they said "Sorry Bryce". Sorry forgot to take this damn tin foil hat off!
  13. Kyle's doom boner just went limp Pfft. Kyle's doom boner is way stronger than a spring training homer.
  14. Obviously I want the Cubs to win the WS, and that the best case scenario. I was using a bit of hyperbole. But my point is that San Diego getting Harper and Machado should be something to be admired, not scorned. They're not the Yankees or the Red Sox or the Cardinals, and other than wear too much camo there's nothing about them makes me really hate them. So with the Cubs actively trying to make me dislike them all offseason long in one way or the other...I'll admit to the Padres bandwagon look a bit attractive.
  15. Counterpoint: Them signing Machado and Harper and immediately rolling the rest of the league and winning the World Series would be the best. you have a weird definition of "the best" Players proving to ownership that investing big in the best free agents produces significantly improved baseball teams....definitely something I'm in favor of.
  16. Counterpoint: Them signing Machado and Harper and immediately rolling the rest of the league and winning the World Series would be the best.
  17. Actually probably just the opposite, he came back to use the locker that the Cubs were going to give to Harper before they realized he was serious about wanting a big contract. Good job. That sarcastic comment almost got through. Someone may have taken it seriously if not for your heroics.
  18. Slightly more info .. [tweet] [/tweet]
  19. Had a dream last night that after a busy day at work, where I couldn't be online, I finally checked the board and all you folks were losing your horsefeathers because the Cubs signed Harper. There was some kind of signing deadline in this dream, which forced him to make a pick...so it may not be an entirely accurate prophecy, however.
  20. Nick Cafardo died today of an embolism while he was at the Red Sox training facility.
  21. this is absolutely 10000000% happening and he is definitely 10000000000000000% not signing with the cubs and i'm definitely not trying to jinx anything in a reverse sort of way If this post was by Duke...mayyyyyybe it has some sway.
  22. [tweet] [/tweet] Holy horsefeathers this kid.
