  1. Cedeno is the best part about this season to date, IMO. Marshall is close. Murton at times as well, though I'd like to see more power from him.
  2. How about when the Cubs execute a sac bunt? Just curious.
  3. I'm really glad we've found a way to get 3 2nd basemen in the game at the same time.
  4. Murton played yesterday. Off the bench. No...he started...he was 2-4 and scored twice.
  5. Yeah he actually pulled his cup out and put it back...that appeared to be a geniune issue.
  6. Televised BP next weekend??? I might miss that..:P
  7. An honest question. Does any ballplayer adjust his junk more than Neifi? Just watch. After nearly every swing, putout, or throw, he goes to the groin. Must I?
  8. Huh...Barrett gets in a fight yesterday...and Baker argues...and now we have some FIRE! and INTENSITY!... Sorry cheapseats....kinda stole your thing there... :P
  9. That's that intangible quality you get from veterans. A rookie never would've thought to ask for that ball.
  10. By the time a trade actually goes down, Lee will be back.
  11. There's already a spot open on the 40 man from Restovich being sent back down, since he made it through waivers.
  12. I highly doubt that. They may if they didn't think their man would be available till the winter for some reason. Then they could blame the Cubs current record on Dusty, the Cubs record at the end of the season on Larry, and get the man they REALLY want this winter.... But if their guy is available now, then Larry as interim would make little sense.
  13. Did he really argue a call? And did he really argue or was it one of those where his hands never came out of his pockets.... :P
  14. While I believe better managing would have helped us win some of those close games during the losing streak, this is truly a terrible offensive roster. I really doubt any manager could make this a winning club. Out of our 3 outfielders, only Jacque Jones is #48 in OPS of 97 outfielders with 75 or more plate appearances. Murton, as much as we love him, is actually in the bottom half of OF's in OPS. And we all know about Juan Pierre. Ronny's OPS has really been falling lately, too. He's 15 out of 30 in MLB. The only player we could really expect better production from is Aramis. This is a wretched offense even with DLee. It is at least partly Dusty's fault for asking for these players, but this is not a team that will score many runs. Agreed for the most part. The offense is bad, bad, bad, but I still think it could be above .500 with the state of the NL. I just don't think the NL is very good, which only makes losing hurt more.
  15. Except building a team with good OBP and power, and have a manager that knew how to use his players to get maximum performance. But yeah, other than that, we've tried everything. Agreed! Let's put it this way no matter who is the manager unless you get a GM that understands how to build a team it won't matter... Come on...a better manager could get this team to play better. This team has talent. Baker puts them in the position least likely to succeed, and shockingly, they don't. For the hundredth time, Dusty asked for these players! Lets get a manager in there that can be successful! Hendry has an extension. He's not going anywhere. There's no reason to be saddled with a bad manager because of that. Where do you see talent? What change managers and all of a sudden Pierre hit's over .300, Todd Walker shines as a number 3 hitter, and our 3 rookie pitchers start to pitch lights out. This a a bad team! Maybe not this bad (in the last two weeks) but a below .500. This argument is circular. Are you asking me to post the lineup I posted like 10 pages back that I think would be successful? No, I don't think that Juan Pierre will be a .300 hitter, but I think he could be more productive in the #2 spot, where we aren't counting on him getting on base as much, but he could possibly move the runner over. Or better yet down toward the bottom of the lineup where if he does start hitting, he could provide a late inning spark...at least for now. I also didn't have Walker as a number 3 hitter in my lineup. This team has enough talent to be above .500. I think a good manager would be playing winning baseball with this team. But I'm done arguing it, because I'm done with the circular argument.

But yeah, other than that, we've tried everything. Fixed. cubbiechris said that, not me. My bad...quoted your response and removed it poorly...sorry. (And then I accidentally edited your post instead of quoting it...fixed now. Is it time for me to go home yet?)

  19. Don't neglect Len and Bob.
  20. Ok...how many runs did WE score in those games? I bet there's a lot of 0's and 1's.... Nope. Lots of 3's tho. 3 today and yesterday. 3 on sunday & monday. 1 on tuesday. My bad...I was thinking back a bit further....Starting from the 2nd 0, 1, 0, 0, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 3, and 3 today. Yes, our pitching has struggled, but so has our offense. The team has just been bad overall.

  22. Most of us that are complaining about Wood throwing in the bullpen last year, support this team year in and year out, and for some of us (most of us?), Wood throwing in the bullpen in meaningless games was a punch in the face. The great thing about Baseball is anything can happen and a lot of the times does the Cubs weren't flat lining last year when Wood was in the bullpen they were still kicking on Life Support. Remember Wood more than likely would have only miss a start of two in April had he not a host of unforseen issues not related to his surgery. I'll trade two Wood starts in April for a lights out Wood out of the pen when we where still in the race anyday. But Wood missed more than 2 starts. He'll have missed nearly 2 months by the time we're done. If he'd been ready by Sping Training, he might have missed a start because of Oscar's death, but instead it delayed recovery from a surgery that should have happened much earlier. It's arguable whether we were flatlining, especially since we ended up nowhere near in contention. If we were within a game or two of being in the playoffs, I might agree, but we weren't. It was a mistake.
