  1. was Aram actually bunting? or is Gameday on crack?
  2. Wow...you're watching the standings? I stopped looking at those things after the 8 game losing streak.
  3. I really really hate WCIU games. Only games I don't get to see... :(
  4. We're only in 1st until we get swept by the Nats. true. thus, I propose: American League ---------------------------- Anaheim Arizona Atlanta Baltimore Boston Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Cleveland Colorado Detroit Florida Houston Kansas City Los Angeles Milwaukee Minnesota NY Mets NY Yankees Oakland Philly Pittsburgh San Diego San Francisco Seattle St. Louis Tampa Bay Texas Toronto Washington National League ------------------ Chicago Cubs Under that alingment, we'd still somehow find a way to get swept in the NLCS. I think it would somehow involve a split squad.
  5. Won't catch me using it. Especially with the search not working. HA!
  6. Sox = Red Sox Sox = White Sox Sox is stupid, just like Cards or Flubs or Scrubs or whatever unclever play on a team's name that can be concocted. All it's going to do is rile people up. I've always thought it made the person sound childish when they said it because it was usually preceded with a somewhat incoherent rambling about something with no basis in truth and succeeded by a giggle that would make a 4th grader proud. My thoughts exactly. We used to pick on kids names in grade school, and thought we were so clever. I got over that.
  7. Hooray for completely generic statements!
  8. Please direct replies to that thread...here's the Premium link for it... http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=31763
  9. It figures that out of a 3 game series, they would pitch Wood on the day game so I can't see it :P
  10. How about the Cubs lose 5 of the next 6, fired Dusty, hire whomever your manager or preference may be, and then go on a tear and win the WC? Alright, so that would be win/win, but I'd have to be much more sure that Dusty would get canned for 1-5 in order to be hoping for that record. Agreed. The odds are a bit long on that scenario.

  12. Bruce, tell everyone in a Cubs uniform I am extremely disappointed in them. Thank you, that is all. You make Ronnie Woo Woo sad.
  13. Paxson says in the Trib that there is no interest on the Bulls part, and this is the first he's heard of it.
  14. Not much to argue with there Goony. The only thing I can say is that I'm not crusading for an ownership change. That said, if an ownership change took place, I'd probably be all for it, simply because it would like cause a trickle down effect of replacement.
  15. I understand where you're coming from goony, and rationally, it makes sense. But I think people see that what we've had in place at all levels hasn't worked. There's a lot of frustration with the status quo, and the Tribune is a faceless corporate entity at the top of the food chain that's easy to target. The Cubs are a major market team, and if they are bought by a reasonably wealthy individual, with a strong desire to get the team to win, the payroll and such should take care of itself through revenues (or so I tell myself). It may not make an immediate positive difference, but I think people are willing to take the risk at this point. It's probably change for the sake of change. But I'm not sure it can really hurt us much more than we are now...at least record-wise.
  16. In 2004, Barrett led the NL in SLG and was 2nd OPS to Johnny Estrada by .002 for catchers with 300 AB's. In 2005, Barrett led the NL in SLG and OPS for catchers with 300 AB's. This year, Barrett is 3rd in the NL in SLG and OPS for catchers with 90 AB's.
  17. The seats had plenty of butts when Maddux wasn't here.
  18. No need to start a bunch of new Dusty topics...there's a bunch in Baseball Discussions, and there's this one and probably a few others here...lets try to keep it to what's already here ok? :)
  19. From an ESPN chat:
  20. Those crazy people...negative after losing 14 of 16 games....
  21. May 23, 6:30 pm CST on ESPN. Or then.
  22. If I recall correctly, they do it during halftime of one of the Finals games...
  23. Great point. If Hendry is going to go the insane route, and extend Baker, just get it over with. Along with possibly helping the club (not sure if I buy that), it will help me, as I'll know what priority the Cubs are going to hold on my life throughout the summer.... :P
  24. The rumor's from the NY Post. Nothing in the Chicago press about it. I'd take it with a grain of salt. Posted for comedy value only. They also posted the rumor in the "daily quickie" on ESPN page 2, but they quoted NY Post as the source.
  25. He's injured, he doesn't hit...no thanks.
