  1. Unfortunately we're one game closer to another season with Baker too.
  2. Lalalalala...I can't hear you..
  3. 13 runs? I know Dusty says that Bynum has surprising power, but wow.
  4. How do you know that? He might be playing Pierre because upper management says to play him. Rusch, I can't explain away.... I know, Hendry says that Dusty makes the calls on the field, but it is possible that the higher-ups want Pierre to play to see how their (poor) investment pans out. Regardless, Pierre has no reason to hate Dusty. And it's highly doubtful that Dusty is being forced to play the guy. Dusty openly supports him all the time. And he plays him everyday. If he didn't want Pierre playing, he'd find more days to sit him and he'd dropped him in the order when he does play. Pierre and Dusty are clearly on the same page. Even given the remote chance that he's being told to play Pierre, Dusty still makes out the lineup that has him leading off EVERY DAY.
  5. Can we stop with the "our 2003 team was good" garbage. We got hot at the righ time, but only won 88 games. That's not powerful. If anything, the 2004 collapse was much worse, as that team was better. Didn't it even have a better record? It's the collapse of the last 2 years that has been so horrible, though we were never even on that high of a pedistal to fall from. Only our expecations were lofty, not a team performance. Can we agree that this team has gotten significantly worse since 2003? If that's the case, does it really matter how good 2003 actually was?
  6. Not hate...dislike. And that's always been there. It's not something newborn. And yes....I'm jealous as hell.
  7. Hey Tigers fans.... Can we adopt your team for a while? We don't like the Sox either.
  8. Murton has performed ok at times, and poorly in others, and now will be losing at least partial playing time. Pierre has been poor from day one. He's started every game so far. Baker has been mostly horrible as a manager. He's still manager. Neifi is one of the worst hitters in major league baseball. He's starting somewhere almost every day.
  9. Even if it was NSBBers, this wouldn't work. I mean, have you seen the Adam Dunn threads, the Corey Patterson threads, the Bobby Hill/Glendon Rusch thread... There would be much disagreement.
  10. 2006 AB HR AVG RBI R SB Carl Crawford 242 8 .302 31 41 21 Corey Patterson 190 7 .295 24 36 27 Career Patterson .256/.297/.418 Crawford .290/.323/.425 Pretty similar...

We don't. The points I was making weren't very controversial in my opinion, but some people thought I was saying things that were way out there. I was simply providing the reasoning behind what I thought was a very middle of the road and obvious statement and a few posters kept disagreeing. It was mind-boggling to me. Here's the problem...it wasn't middle of the road and obvious.

    Nice sig. Seconded...that's excellent.
  13. Bah, it was a meaningless homerun as the Cubs already had the lead. Jacque = not clutch. Trade him for Dunn. A team with Jones, Dunn, and Arod as the heart of the order wouldn't win games because none of those guys hit when it counts. Can't be any worse then the Cubs as currently assembled. I'm not sure if you guys are being sarcastic when talking about whether Jones is clutch. I seem to remember about 2-3 games where a Jock hit was clutch... It was sarcasm based on the Adam Dunn thread in transactions. Linky Non Premium Linky

  16. Better yet, Walker Murton Nevin Ramirez Jones Barrett Cedeno Pierre Pitcher I'm not even picky about the order of the 3-6 guys.
  17. Fixed I'm tempted to force either Tim or 1908 to change your title to Manbrano. O:)
  18. That would be a great sticky thread. Cubs player/prospect/staff name pronounciations. I always said Pie wrong...and Dubois...and Dopirak...and Ryu... If someone is bored sometime and wants to do something like that, it'd be swell. :D
  19. If Murton has lost his spot and now has to platoon with Bynum, what does Pierre have to do to get the same treatment?
  20. Could the Cubs be one of those teams? I'm beginning to get too overly hopeful about this.
  21. This is exactly why they didn't announce it. They're waiting for you to show the last little bit of hope that you have, so they can announce the extension at the craziest possible moment and crush whatever hope you have left. I'm feeling a bit negative today if you hadn't noticed.
  22. Be careful of what you wish for... Meaning what? You think a new owner would mean big change. Well let me give you an example...two words can explain it all (if you know who he is)...David Glass. Good point. David Glass, Bill Wirtz ... things could be much, much worse than the Trib owning the Cubs. I'm fed up enough with the way things are, that I'm willing to take the gamble. I'm willing to roll the dice and take my chances. It's not working the way it is, and I don't forsee things changing under the Tribune. If I'm being overly pessimistic, it's because the Cubs have trained me to be so.
