  1. Wojo is having a chat on ESPN right now.
  2. Gah...posted this in the wrong thread....
  3. Wojo is having a chat session at 11am ET on ESPN.com. Have at it....
  4. So we should replace Dusty because there are other people in the organization that are worse. That's some fiiiiiine logic.
  5. I don't get the play the kids talk. Who do we have that's not playing who should be playing? I'm all for playing kids if and when they're ready and if they're good. Hill, Dubois and Choi were not as good as many of us thought, and not to turn this into a Murton thread, but I was fooled. i don't think he'll be as good as I thought he would be. Just ask yourself this: If we didn't trade for Nomar, do you think Murton would be playing everyday for the Red Sox? If Glendon Rusch is good enough to be pitching, then surely Rich Hill deserves a better shot than he's gotten. And you can't answer the question fairly without saying that Murton should be playing every day. Guzman was allowed to rot away on the bench for 2 weeks before he was sent down. Theriot got just about zero playing time during the time he was up. And your question about the Sox is comparing apples to oranges. The Sox are competing to get into the playoffs. The Cubs are one of the worst teams in the majors. Playing veterans over potential makes no sense at this point. If the Red Sox were staring down the barrell of a 100 loss season, yes, I think they'd have played Matt Murton every day, no question.
  6. Here's where the problem is. It's not reasonable. Possible does not equal reasonable.
  7. The thing is, I'm not sure how having disagreements with Baker would keep Rothschild from doing things like helping to improve the control of our pitchers or trying to get our starting pitchers to become more economical, though. I'm sure Baker isn't telling Rothschild to make sure every young pitcher coming up from the farm system remains a wild man or that everybody on our staff should be turned into home run derby pitchers. Rothschild really needs to go with the rest of them. How do you have 23 posts? I'm confused There's J.R. and JR.
  8. So long as it's interim, who cares. I guess I just don't really see it as much of a change from Dusty.
  9. Ugh...what if he plans to use Rothschild as interim manager?
  10. Since the one in rivaries was opened first, and it is a Cards transaction, I'm gonna lock this one. Premium link Non-Premium link
  11. Maybe, but they didn't even let Baker hire his own PC, and they bent over backwards in every way to get Dusty on board. Was Rothschild on board before Baker?? I didn't remember that...
  12. Rothschild only has a 1 year deal, right? My guess is that Hendry will go with an interim coach, so they'll go with stability for the year in the pitching coach area, and then let the new permanent manager hire his own guy in the offseason... But that's just a baseless theory on my part.
  13. I've created a Dugout sticky in Social. Premium Non-Premium
  14. It's mostly reading a slow windup, and being pretty fast. Both guys were halfway down the line before the ball was thrown (or not thrown).
  15. Um...I posted a link to both plays.
  16. Stop trying to steal my thunder. It was pure luck that I happened to catch that highlight, because I haven't been watching a lot of baseball highlights this year...
  17. http://tampabay.devilrays.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mediacenter/index.jsp?c_id=tb Click on "Top Plays" for today's game.
  18. Orlando Cabrera stole home the other night. http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mediacenter/index.jsp?c_id=ana Click on "Top Plays" on the July 2nd game against the Dodgers.
  19. Don't they need somebody to score points? Plenty of room on the sunny side of Chicago sports. I'm ready for football season already. I can get behind that...but I'm good with what the Bulls have done.
  20. ESPN is reporting that the Chandler for PJ Brown and JR Smith deal is pretty much done. The players have been notified that the deal will be officially done on June 12 when players can sign, and my guess is that the trade is probably contingent on Wallace actually signing.
  21. While I can appreciate the enthusiasm for the subject.... :D ....lets keep the number of new topics down on this and reply in the thread linked here... http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=33466 viewtopic.php?t=33466
  22. Same as the Trib article being discussed here... http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=33466 viewtopic.php?t=33466
  23. Bump. Just thought I'd bump this thread, since Baylor was fired on July 5th....will history repeat itself???? We can only hope. EDIT: Note that in 2002 on this date, the Cubs were 4 games BETTER than they are now.
  24. What a coincidence...so do we..:)
  25. Holy crap. You know, I always thought the 3 pointer against the Suns in the triple OT game in the 93 finals would be Paxson's legacy...but he sure is adding onto that nicely isn't he?? :D
