  1. Then why have it at all? To give HOF members a chance to include guys who might not have gotten a fair shake from writers. See, the Veteran's Committee wants it both ways. They want to feel like they'll include players from their generation that may not have gotten a fair shake, but then they do the exact opposite. I say they give part of the vote to the fans. Say that they have a Web ballot that counts for 2-3 votes for the top three players on top of the committee vote. I think that fans can be much more objective to who should be in the Hall. Fans are naturally biased. They'll vote for former players from their favorite team whether the stats are there or not.
  2. Then why have it at all? To give HOF members a chance to include guys who might not have gotten a fair shake from writers. So since 2001, everyone has gotten a fair shake from the writers?
  3. I agree. I'm not a big HOF fan.

  5. Or 5 new guys get induced in the next vote! It seems to me these guys like to feel they are in an inclusive club and the fewer in that club the better it makes them look. But 5 new guys doesn't help him. He needs 75% of the vote. He needs to change some minds, not just add new people to the process.
  6. Verionica Mars and Rome have both been added.
  7. Is that show taking over the 30 Rock timeslot? I voted thursday, but Heroes alone makes monday a close second. If the Black Donnellys is good that might change things. 8:30 PM central, at least for the first episode. Rather than starting a new thread, has anyone seen Rob Corddry's new show The Winner? The first four episodes are up on Fox.com. It starts out with a pretty annoying laugh track, but it's not that bad of a show. Quite raunchy, though. Of course, I'd never actually watch if it not for Corddry. It looks really bad from the commercials. I honestly have no intention of watching it. But then I don't really watch a lot of Sunday night TV anyway. On a completely seperate note, I just don't understand the love for Two and a Half Men...I just don't find that show funny, but it has a huge audience. It bothers me for unknown reasons.
  8. Peter King's article pretty much confirms that this was a misprint.
  9. The loss of Studio 60 doesn't affect this for you? Is it officially gone? It's on "hiatus", but speculation is they'll burn the rest off during the summer or on the internet, and that it won't return next season. But I don't know that anything is official other than the fact that Black Donnelly's is taking that time slot beginning tonight.

  11. It's having an excellent season.

I'm going with Mondays.
  13. Yeah, I think the only feasible answers there are "Lovie" or "cheap coach"...
  14. They did. Barry Bonds dressed up as Paula Abdul. Everyone was merry. Yeah, what is this, a spring training ritual now? Try some new stuff guys... :P
  15. Lou is starting to sell me on him and what he can do with this team. I don't know if he'll be successful, but he's got me thinking more positively...and considering how low this team had me, that's saying something.
  16. I didn't watch the game, but when I saw the box scores on the ESPN ticker this morning, I thought "They must've misprinted Wallace's stats."

  18. I'm glad Pax stood his ground.
  19. I don't think it's that rare. Lots of lower tier coaches find better jobs elsewhere after team success. Is going from being the QB coach on a Super Bowl team to being the QB coach on the Cowboys a better job? When it pays more it is. That would be where the crux of it is, huh?
  20. I don't think it's that rare. Lots of lower tier coaches find better jobs elsewhere after team success. Is going from being the QB coach on a Super Bowl team to being the QB coach on the Cowboys a better job? It might be when your QB is getting soundly criticized (deserved or no) and eventually some of the blame might fall on you, and instead you go to a job where you're more predisposed to be a success and to continue to move up the coaching ranks. Why is gowing from Grossman to Romo more redisposed to success? Dallas arguably has a bigger national following, at least from the media, than Chicago, so the scrutiny isn't going to be any less.

  22. I lot of coaching flux for a Super Bowl team.
  23. There's a big difference between a manager who wants something and a manager who will enforce something. Each manager enforces their pitchers to throw strikes. If they dont throw strikes, they wont be pitching for them anymore. Huh? You would be confused. I'm often confused by nonsensical rambling. If you don't throw strikes, locate your pitches, change speeds, and change the eye level of the hitter, you will NOT be pitching for any big league manager. Simple enough? It's simple in that it's not true. If what you're saying is true, there wouldn't be any bad pitchers in the majors, and that's just not the case.
  24. I'm nitpicking a little, but I wish Piniella wouldn't refer to "when I played". I feel like sometimes managers get stuck on their experience as players, even though the game has changed a whole lot since they played. But again, that's just nitpicking, probably because Dusty did so much of that too.
  25. Mike Murphy was on this a little from what I heard on my lunch...he said Ramirez says he's not lazy, he's slow...but then all the reports are that Dusty and the medical staff told him to take it easy. He was pointing out that these were somehow contradictions. All the while I'm saying to myself...who freaking cares?
