  1. The AFC section of that will defintely be the toughest part. We'll have to wait for the offseason to play itself out to see how tough the NFC will be. I think the Cowboys game could be really interesting depending on what Rivera does.
  2. Not a fair assessment because Giants fans hate everybody on their team. Typical New York sports fans. Everybody on that team hates everyone else on the team. That's just a messed up franchise. They desperately need a new Head Coach. Not really. People don't like Eli because he's been not good. Also it seems he is unable to close his mouth and must leave it open or partially open at all times. :o
  3. He's the same guy who ran down Elis Hobbs in the AFCC game, I think. I do think Hester had started to coast a little bit there but that dude is fast. I thought Hester started getting a good deal slower at about the 50. They made it out like Hester was admiring himself in the jumbotron, but I thought it was clearly obvious he was watching to see if someone was going to run him down from behind...
  4. i say lock it anyways. No way, it's almost to 200 pages! Is this the longest thread ever? Not even close It might have had the most "pre-game" posts of any game thread ever though.
  5. Drop it guys. I don't want to have to lock this thread.
  6. Garcia was fine for half a season. Can he play a full season?
  7. Wouldn't even consider it. His issues go beyond just injury "concerns". He makes Rex look like Favre in the stability department. He's always limping around, even when he does play. He might not be a high risk for disaster, but he doesn't have a ton of upside in my opinion. This would just be a grass is always greener move, taking on somebody else's headache. If I found somebody who stood a good chance of being a very good QB, I'd be fine to replace Rex. But I don't see it. A move like this has to be an obvious upgrade. To me, a guy like Leftwich is nothing more than a lateral move. It would be starting over with a guy who has at least as many questions as Rex. I was just looking through the list of potential tradesor free agents...Leftwich, Garcia and Huard are the "big names"... I'm admittedly frustrated with the QB situation, and looking for quick remedies.
  8. The Bears wouldn't have been in the Super Bowl without Grossman this year. He's not ideal by any stretch. But Griese sure as hell isn't a sure thing for glory. I agree Griese wouldn't be better. But I don't think mediocre is ok just because we don't have anything better when we're going into the offseason now, and can try to get something better. I understand our options are limited, but I think Angelo has to look at all of those options and figure out if Rex really is the best option. I'm not sure he is. There's no obvious free agent option. There's no chance of a near-term solution via the draft. The Bears need to put 100% of their QB efforts behind making Rex better. Or at the most, put some of that into drafting a future QB in the middle rounds. But barring any miracle situation where they discover a diamond in the rough off somebody else's bench, Grossman is the QB. Yeah, I guess I just don't like the "there's no other choice" argument. I know there's injury concerns, but if you could get Byron Leftwich for say a 4th or 5th round pick, would you do it?
  9. Take it easy guys. I know tensions are a little high right now... Anyone can post in the thread that wants to. Just try to keep things civil. Thanks.

  11. Last night he couldn't, but he did just that several times this year. Twice in the New Orleans game he horribly underthrew Berrian. Agreed. I just think you overstated it a little.
  12. Arena football starts on ESPN in March too, if you need a football fix.
  13. Last night he couldn't, but he did just that several times this year.
  14. He was very very bad last night. That's just simply not true. He played well enough to win if the rest of the team wasn't so intent on turning the ball over and if the defense did anything. The defense was ho-hum, Benson didn't show up. No, Rex didn't have a good game, I'd call it below average. But he wasn't very very bad. I know people will push that as the official story, but it's just not the case. It is true. He wasn't good last night. I know he wasn't good. But that's different from being god-awful, very very bad and taking a crap on the field. Rest of the team turning the ball over? 3 of the 5 turnovers were Rex. He had a bad snap that he managed to recover about 5-6 yards behind the line of scrimmage, and another one where he stumbled backward for a sack. The Bears were still in the game (5 points down in the 4th) until Rex threw 2 picks. The last pick was one where he badly underthrew Berrian on the type of bomb pass that is Grossman's forte, if he has a forte. His completion percentage of 71.4% is all that saved his QB rating from being quite a bit worse than the 68.3 he ended with. I've been defending Grossman for the whole season, because I thought he was the best option we had. But I can't take the idea that we're wasting an opportunity for championships because we're trying to develop a QB that has such terrible lapses in both judgement and fundamental football skills. Grossman wasn't all that lost that game, but it was a huge part of it. EDIT: I neglected to mention 2 dropped INT's by the Colts.
  15. I'm struggling to not overreact here. I agree with you about Rex and how this is the time that he would need to show something, but I think he's already shown us some signs that he's just not mentally capable of being a successful NFL QB. 1) The bad snaps. The number of bad snaps he's had throughout the year is just ridiculous. How many has he had? 12 or so? That's just not something that should happen at the NFL level...certainly not that often. 2) I'd like to say it's bad decision making, but I'm not sure guessing qualifies as decision making. I don't think Rex understands how to read defenses. Rex plays football like I play Madden. I usually end up throwing to my primary receiver because I'm just not good at going through my reads. The bomb is the one type of throw that he does well, and last night he couldn't even throw that. Sorry, I'm trying to keep this in perspective, not just about last night. 3) He just doesn't look comfortable or confident out there. Yeah, I know he's all cocky and whatnot when he's at a microphone, but I think part of the reason for the bad snaps is that he's trying to get out from under center so fast because he's afraid of the defense. I don't think he's confident in what he's doing out there. 4) Ron Turner. I don't think he knows how to use Rex, or what to do with him any longer. Ok, away from the QB, the other points you made, I completely agree. I think I'd put the safety need ahead of the OL need, but it depends on the talent there, and as far as that goes, I have faith in Angelo to get the right guys. I think we're going to hear a lot that the Bears should look at Troy Smith though...
  16. I'm officially done with the 85 Bears. I'm tired of them. I don't want to hear from them or see them anymore.
  17. I thank you for your contribution. I'm just trying to stay consistent with my superstitions And I was serious! It's worked most of the season...keep it up! :)
  18. I'm sooooo tired of hearing Steve Young talk about "slaying my dragon" in the Super Bowl. Ugh. He's obsessed with that phrase.
  19. I thank you for your contribution.
  20. Trachsel on the Cardinals could either be a ton of fun for us, or a ton of pain if he does the "I'm on the Cardinals and now I'm a great pitcher" routine...
  21. Preaching to the choir guys... :)
  22. Oh and Bill Simmons is taking the Bears, pretty much because he wants to go against the gambling majority.
  23. Many of the people in the media that I've heard pick the Colts actually are saying that they think the Colts are a better overall team right now. For example, I heard both John Elway and Chris Simms say this on the Dan Patrick show.
  24. I'm curious what the Wisconsin stats look like (Packers) and what the southern states look like (Saints).
