  1. It's frustrating to watch the Cubs fouling off pitches they should be hitting out.
  2. I was just telling my wife how annoying that is.
  3. Most of them are 20-30. Eyre threw 2 pitches. Not sure how many Ohman threw.
  4. Your avatar is hypnotizing. wait til you see badger's latest It's been seen and removed. Family site and all.
  5. My wife: Holy cow he's fast! As a side note...Derosa has been a nice pickup so far. He's definitely earning his keep.
  6. did you just totally miss the last page completely? It was a thread merge.
  7. It's actually worse than that, because at least Guzman is young with a lot of potential. Lieber is old and past his prime.
  8. No, he asked Darren, not the players.
  9. that would be awesome Except for the part where Mark Derosa plays 3rd instead of Aramis. Aramis plays short  I know defense isn't as important as offense or pitching....buuuuuttttttt......
  10. that would be awesome Except for the part where Mark Derosa plays 3rd instead of Aramis.
  11. Love ya, mooch. :D Anything to help out, Tim. hrmph.....teachers pet
  12. I was gonna say that Jones isn't exactly a spring chicken, but then I went and looked up Lieber...I didn't realize he's 37! Wow.
  13. Everybody likes Pie.. No matter what form I don't like Cherry pie, sweet potato pie, or coconut cream pie.
  14. Wuertz threw 11 pitches yesterday. Ohman and Howry each threw 9. The bullpen hasn't been "burned." There's no need to bring someone up for that reason. where are you getting your pitch counts? Wuertz threw 35, Ohman threw 22 and Howry threw 21 according to the mlb.com box score. Haha. I was looking at the wrong column in Fred's useless stats. Thanks. Anyway, Eyre threw all of 2 pitches yesterday, so he should be fine. And Cotts, Dempster, Howry, and Wuertz all got the day off on Monday. No reliever has thrown more than 68 pitches total in the last week. The bullpen should not be fatigued. If Z performs anything like he did in the first 2 weeks, we'll have a tired bullpen after tonight for sure though.
  15. The nice thing about the Lieber or Blanton trade would be that it would provide some extra flexibility in the bullpen for that Zambrano/A-rod trade.... I refuse to quit dreaming.
  16. Considering patience has been his biggest knock all the way through our system, it was a very pleasant surprise to see him taking some pitches, while at the same time being aggressive. I would like to see a slight adjustment to his swing though - too much of a fly ball swing, not enough of a line-drive swing. Like C-Patt, he's a middle of the order player trying to be a leadoff guy...hopefully he adjusts better than C-Patt did.
  17. Yeah...I don't see Lou demoting Theriot...he's one of the few guys that's hit consistently on this team so far.
  18. ARod will do whatever Lou tells him to. Plus, don't you think it would be in the back of Rodriguez's mind that he would have the chance to win the GG over his great friend, Derek Jeter? They would be in different leagues.
  19. Meh...you weather guys are always wrong... :P
  20. Instead we spent our big money on Soriano...who's injured... :P
  21. Based on what? He's gotten older (turns 32 this season) and it's been 4 seasons since he played shortstop. He doesn't look as mobile as he did when he was with the Rangers (but hey, he'd still be a better defensive SS than Jeter). If, as Bob said, he could prove me wrong, I'd love a Z-for-ARod trade. Wouldn't his offensive production make up for the drop off in his defense though?
  22. I think it's just the hope. It just doesn't make sense to me to send him down if that weren't the case considering how well he's been pitching. Not just hope anymore. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070417cubsbits,1,6444674.story?coll=cs-cubs-headlines "Guzman will move into the rotation at Iowa and likely will make two starts before the Cubs decide whether to bring him back as a starter. With an off-day on April 26, the Cubs will need their fifth starter only one more time until May 1 at Pittsburgh." The writing is on the wall, Mr. Miller. Not to bring the idea down any, but you're just quoting Paul Sullivan's speculations. If this has basis in what he has heard from a team official, he certainly didn't present it that way. I agree that the only other explanation for the move is unparalleled ignorance, but nothing would shock me with this organization. I guess I'm just saying it's still just hope and speculation. Yeah, that's the way I read it too. Just speculation...(though I certainly hope he's right).
