  1. The bad part is Guzman has to stay in Iowa for 10 days unless someone gets injured. I guess they could still put Soriano on the DL. Exactly. Or Miller could have a mysterious injury.
  2. If he keeps it up all year, I'll gladly sacrifice the black hole on my fantasy team and take credit for his down year :D I like referring to him as "Adam Dunn" when talking to my Cardinal fan co-worker. It gets him good and riled up. :D
  3. I think you are right. definitely. he'd have to hit the cover off the ball to bump floyd/jones/soriano/murton out of the OF rotation Hendry may really be trying to trade Jones too. He certainly showed some outfield versatility yesterday, although this is the second year in a row he's started slow offensively.
  4. The way Piniella presented it to Soriano was as an option, not a demand. It wasn't like he said "You're going to LF." and Soriano told him to stick it. It was "Will moving to LF help your hitting with not having so much to worry about?" and he said he was fine, that CF wasn't a distraction. I don't think this is an issue.
  5. DVR I would have had to have had the foresight to set it up though.
  6. I wish the Cubs were playing tonight...I wanna see Pie play... :x
  7. anyone have a link to these standings? EDIT: Nevermind, found it.
  8. So does this mean the Murton continues to sit, or does Jacque? Floyd/Pie/Murton? Floyd/Pie/Jones?
  9. If Miller goes to the pen, then Guzman would be the 5th starter presumably, so that doesn't really help. The cubs sure would be stronger. Now ofcourse we'd need to bring up an additional guy. But even if you JUST swapped Miller and Guzman. The Cubs would be tons better. Because you'd have Guzman starting and Miller only going a couple of innings at a time. And I'd bet Guzman would give you the better performance at this time. Let's see. Miller DFA, Guzman to the Rotation. Cherry to the bullpen. Ohman to AAA or DFA. Who else we got at AAA? Heck anyone would be better. Bring Mateo or Marmoll. I was specifically saying that the Miller-Guzman switch doesn't really help Ohman's suckitude to start the season. I, of course, completely agree that the Miller-Guzman switch needs to happen, and soon.
  10. On a side note, the guy is really funny. We had tickets on the 3rd base side about 6 rows from the field back in 05 and he would walk back and forth for various reasons pregame and between innings, and would joke around with fans a lot. But he better start pitching better...:P
  11. I expect Deng's contract to be very reasonable. I think Pax's plan has been to keep and pay Nocioni, Deng and Gordon all along. Adding Oden or Durant would complicate things down the road, but not for 3, 4 years -- and what a delicious problem to have. it's very likely we won't get close to being able to take him anyway, but it's nice to think about. if the bulls got the #1, i would declare it to be the greatest day in the history of chicago sports. That would probably be the day when Portland decided to go big instead of taking the spectacular two guard. Hey...you watch OTHER sports than baseball??
  12. Why does the fact that soldiers volunteered to go defend the country and died in that service mean that they are any less important or less worth of a "day off" of baseball than those that died tragically today? Honestly, that seems completely irrelevant. Yes, today's shooting is surprising and shocking, but really, where would the line be drawn for calling off sporting events?
  13. Ship JJ off in a package deal for a SS. Eh? Eh? :D I'd like to see Theriot at SS actually. Maybe JJ for a reliever to replace Ohman?
  14. If Miller goes to the pen, then Guzman would be the 5th starter presumably, so that doesn't really help. :!: Oh yeah, you're right. I guess I'm trying to say swap Miller and Guzman, drop Ohman and call up Cherry. Considering Miller has said he doesn't want to go to the pen, the Cubs might DFA Miller, make Guzman the #5 starter, and bring up a reliever from AAA. That doesn't help with the Ohman situation though.
  15. If Miller goes to the pen, then Guzman would be the 5th starter presumably, so that doesn't really help.
  16. going to the kitchen to take a dump. It sorta has some of the same stuff, but you'll just end up with crap all over the place. Ew.
  17. Asking Dusty for advice on scrappy middle infielders: Predictable.
  18. Assuming Soriano is healthy, give me a Floyd/Soriano/Murton outfield please.
  19. Len & Bob say day to day. ESPN is openly hoping he hits the DL. I laughed unbelievably hard at this. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2839958 This says day to day. It was just the caption writer trying to be sensational.
  20. I didn't hear it either so I would like to know as well. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Something about catcher hats. It was boring. Yep. Bruce just happened to know who the first catcher was that wore a helmet. And we talked about how Bob likes to pull the knob off the tops of hats. Very in depth analysis.
  21. I gotta say, I hope Soriano is ok, because I like the idea of a Floyd/Soriano/Murton outfield.
