  1. The 2006 Cardinals were not a fluke. An 83 win team winning the WS is the definition of a fluke.
  2. Just like the miraculous comeback by the Astros in '05, the Cubs should not make their decisions based on how they compare to what the Cardinals were like last year. Why not? Basing plans off of world champions and practically yearly division champions is bad? If it snows in July this year, I don't think I'll be making any ski plans in my area for the following July. Now we're comparing baseball to the weather? We're saying that because a fluke bad team won the WS, doesn't mean that that flukiness is a model for success. Sometimes a fluke is just a fluke. The trend is that it doesn't snow in July. The trend is that bad teams don't win the WS.

  4. lol...Yahoo now tells me it's 1-0 Cubs after one inning. But it still has all the pbp and box score... Also Heath Bell pitching and R. Bowen hitting.
  5. Better bench Murton forever, then! Stop being dramatic. I'm just saying, through what I've seen of the season, Floyd's been a better player. And we NEED to win right now, not play Murton for the heck of it. You disagree with either of those statements? There don't seem to be many people who think we can win this year. Everyone is like "Floyd is old, what happens then?" Right now, Floyd is producing, Murton isn't. In this weak division, anyone can win, and as last year showed, all you need to do is make the playoffs and then ANYTHING can happen. Really? How often does a inferior team win the WS. Last one I can think of before last year was 88 Dodgers and than 85 Royals. 06 Cardinals. See the bolded. :)
  6. Floyd is 34. How much longer is he going to play? Whatcha gonna do with LF then?
  7. whereas Murton has popped pitches in his eyes up to 3rd base over and over, and yet the rallying cry is still to bench Floyd Trade Jones and let Murton and Floyd play. Fixed. So long as he's not out there while Murton rots on the bench.

  9. When we trade for A-Rod in July, we'll have some longer game threads.
  10. Gotta think we'll see a Floyd PH appearance this inning.
  11. Whoa...you're location changed right? I actually grew up in Washington.
  12. well, all they show on WGN is: Cubs Sox Bulls Lizzy McGuire AFV Becker And Scrubs Scrubs is late though...I like to get my Scrubs fix at 6:00 on Comedy Central. Plus I hate the WGN commercials for Scrubs. It almost makes me dislike the show even though I love it.
  13. Why would anyone watch just about anything else on WGN? Bulls games. The very rare movie. That's about it.
  14. Miller gives up 6 hits and 4 walks and it's tied, you're darn right I'm ecstatic. but, but a 5.40 ERA with a 2.00 WHIP is never acceptable, right GOONY? Correct. It's an unacceptable performance by the pitcher. I'm ecstatic that they were lucky enough to still be in the game. just checking ;) You know Goony has his Wade Miller jersey on...I mean, he's "jersey cub fan"...I think that says it all.
  15. I just posted Miller's PC on the last page....70 through 3 Maddux is 50 through 3.
  16. prior reported late? He took his allotted *72* hours to report - can you imagine?! Thank God we have Paul Sullivan to tell us these things. I don't care if I'm the ONLY person on this board with this opinion. He took the full allotted time to report, when his JOB WAS ON THE LINE. Unprofessional, and I dont care what you guys think about it. If I'm trying to impress my superior, I show up early. oh brother. If I'm trying to impress my superior, I worry more about trying to do the job well than showing up early. We can certainly debate about the job Prior has done, but I sure don't care if he took his allotted time.
  17. Miller with 70 pitches through 3 if anyone is interested.
  18. Time to guess how many runs Miller gives up in the 3rd inning. I'll say 2.
  19. I know he hasn't gotten a ton of AB's, but Cedeno is hitting .077?? Ouch.
  20. Booing Murton or Miller? i don't think they were booing murton. Did you see the ball roll past Murton? He misplayed that ball so badly. On that play, they booed Murton. And rightfully so, it was a terrible play. But now, they are just booing the Cubs in general. Miller is horrendous. I'm not watching the game, so maybe you're right. But I like to think that Cubs fans are a little smarter than to boo a guy that is playing a position for the 2nd time in his life for making a fielding mistake. But maybe I'm wrong.
