  1. Why do people keep wanting to trade Marshall? I don't understand how subtracting from our starting staff makes us a better team.
  2. Lots of athletes opening their mouths on HBO lately.
  3. But...but...but....we still have Gross Man....HAHAHA...oh I made a funny...nobody's ever come up with that joke before...it's hiiiii-larious.
  4. I'm not a Jacque fan. Never have been and probably never will be...but he's definitely coming through right now, and I'm happy to ride along with that. I don't think he's getting traded till the offseason now (just a hunch) so I'd like to see him do well the rest of the year.
  5. I'm afraid they'd treat him like Wade Miller though and hold on to him even if it's obvious he can't pitch anymore. The Cubs and "projects" scare me.
  6. Before Tillman got his chunk of change, I thought maybe the Bears might revisit a long term deal with Briggs after the season...but now I'm not so sure about that. Especially with Harris's extension coming up soon, and if for some reason Grossman does good next year his extension. I highly doubt they can keep Briggs past this year. That's what happens in football though, its really hard to keep a dominating unit in tact. Well as long as you keep Urlacher, you can change the outside backers...they've certainly done that before successfully.
  7. I don't like the idea of trading any of our starting pitchers...who would take over for Marshall?

  9. That's excellent news. When the deadline passed, I figured something would happen before TC started.
  10. I'd rather not give up any of our current starters.
  11. There's already a thread on this in rivalries. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/PremiumForum/viewtopic.php?t=42664 viewtopic.php?t=42664
  12. Well we knew he was disabled...we were trying to figure out what his rehab status was.
  13. Really? Bipolar much? :P The team is going to lose some games...and the D-Backs always do well against the Cubs for some reason. Fortunately, especially recently, the Cubs have the Cardinals number. Lee is back, Dempster is back...this should be a good week.
  14. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070708&content_id=2075083&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb He had a rehab start on Jul 8th...that's the most recent info I can find.
  15. Wasn't Hendry also chasing Barrett for a while before he ended up getting him? Seems like Hendry gets tunnel vision sometimes. With Barrett it worked...with Conine..... :? And Kendall Was there a lot of conversation about Hendry wanting Kendall? I didn't hear it.
  16. The difference between the Cubs and the Brewers in this stretch is going to be how well they play on the road. Cubs on the road 24-22 Brewers on the road 19-26

  18. And to be fair, they weren't asking Kruk and Phillips if they WILL get in on the first ballot, they were asking if they SHOULD get in on the first ballot. I think those are two very different questions. I was more annoyed that there was ZERO discussion of Jeter, it was just "He's in...sure thing"...maybe so, but lets at least talk about it if that's the point of the segment.
  19. Isn't Encarnacion like Jacque Jones but like, not as good?
  20. It's that time of year folks!!! It's time for the media to drool over the Lions! From this week'sPeter King article: A Grossman dig for good measure: King acknowledged last weekthat he has an almost annual love for the Lions...
  21. I was at the last Chiefs game that he pitched at. Then he proceeded to come up and have all of his issues again. I refuse to get too excited about him this time. And good lord he looks thin.
  22. It's worth noting that quality > quantity. And quantity does not always mean quality.
  23. 2 games with each catcher since Kendall got here I think.
  24. Well see, Shawn Estes had a 5.73 ERA with the cubs that year and never had an ERA under 4 for a year. Which gets back to my point, he's not a solid No. 2 or 3 pitcher, but he's pretty solid for a no. 5. well, see, Marquis has gone 6 innings three times in last eleven starts. He got off to a good start but the ERA has been steadily rising. In short, he is not reliable to keep the team in the game. He is also likely to end the season with an ERA well above 4 - probably above 5. The offense is not going to score 5+ everyday. Well see, I'm not sure there's gonna be anyone available on the trade block that's going to pitch any better. And it's not like Milwaukee has gangbusters pitching... ERA's of the Brewers starters Yovani Gallardo - 2.34 (only 34.2 innings though) laudio Vargas - 4.47 Dave Bush - 4.84 Jeff Suppan - 4.92 Chris Capuano - 4.96 That's why Sheets is so important for them. Nobody else that's started significantly has an era under 4! Meanwhile we have: Lilly - 3.58 Z - 3.69 Hill - 3.70 Marquis - 3.92 Marshall - 3.43 (Only 57.2 innings) The only starting staffs in baseball with an overall better ERA than the Cubs are San Diego and Oakland. I just have a hard time nit-picking our starting staff right now. Bad outings are going to happen. Marquis has had a few, no question. And maybe he really is our #5 starter right now. I think there's a lot of teams right now that would take a 3.92 ERA and 7-5 record out of their #5 starter.
