  1. Agreed...but it doesn't hurt. I think we have a couple of premium members that are [expletive] Cardinal fans. I didn't say that, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't imply that I did.

  3. Attn Brewers Fans: 1) Clutter on the message board: If you subscribe to Premium access, the message board is much cleaner. Hardly any advertising, and much less "wasteful" space. 2) Sig Pics: Premium Users have the option to turn off both signatures and avatars. You can also ignore others that don't share your viewed opinion, so you don't have to deal with those nasty bandwagoners. 3) Moderation: Most of our moderation is done through private messaging. We try to keep moderation out of the public view, because we'd much rather have the conversations be about baseball. 4) Unpopular opinions are welcome here, so sign up and post! Just be respectful of others, otherwise you'll find out just how well this board is moderated.... :D
  4. I agree that it's not impossible, but it's certainly highly improbable. They are 8 games back in the wild card with 7 teams in front of them. Their best pitcher that was supposed to come back and save them, is continuing to have injury issues. The guys that performed for them last year are either injured, or just not performing this year. They've had 3 (I think) different relievers in the starting rotation this year. With the Cubs, everyone said all season that they had the talent, they were just being very Cub-like and not putting it together. They finally have somehow seemed to do that. I'm not meaning this as a Cardinals bashing thread. But I think the article was obviously pretty ridiculous...that was my point.
  5. Voodoo = funny. Crank calls to players and their families = classless Yes, going out of your way to hope for a player to get injured is real funny. :? After reading the entire article, I would say Garner is classless. Why doesn't he try to switch something up with his team and get them to perform at a higher level, rather than wishing ill upon the opposition? I fail to see in humor in it. It was very clearly a joke.
  6. LOL...Comcast just talked about the deal and then showed a graphic that showed his CERA... Hendry really hit all the cliches too..."His recommendations were off the charts"..."It was a no-brainer for us"..."His career OBP is off the charts"...
  7. And a lifetime backup until this year. If he's so good, why didn't he have a starting job before? Just nitpicking the Biggio analogy a little. :)
  8. Now that I can agree with. Barrett shouldn't have been traded..or at least not traded for the crap he was traded for. But assuming for a second that Hendry realized after the fact that he made a mistake with getting Bowen, then there's little fault in him correcting that as best as he can.
  9. I think Ravech got the Marshall for Kendall info from a personal call from Bush...they're personal friends now.
  10. But none of those options are proven. If we could get a guy like Biggio - maybe a first-year Hall of Famer - there would be no stopping us from making the playoffs. Biggio is a veteran. He's played in the World Series. He won't crack under pressure during the stretch run. Theriot and Fontenot will probably lose control of their bowels if the Cubs are playing meaningful games in September. I like the Kendall move, but we need more proven veterans to catch the Brewers. Derosa is a vet.
  11. +1 I've changed my mind. It's a good thing. What do you guys think it would take to get Craig Biggio from Houston now that Burke is going to get more playing time at 2B? If we could get Biggio, we could have an infield full of all-stars with Kendall, Lee, Biggio, Izturis, and Ramirez. The difference is that we don't currently have any proven production at C that are any better than Kendall (Granted, the Cubs aren't giving Soto a decent shot, and that would be my first choice) At 2B we have numerous options. And yes, I know you were being facetious.
  12. Well at least you aren't overstating things. Its my opinion about the player. Perhaps I should have been more clear in a message board post that it reflected my opinion. And it's my opinion that you are overstating it. Glad we clarified that.
  13. People need to look at who is being given up rather than the position. People would've called Marmol nothing a year ago if he was included in a trade. Young relievers have potential value espec. in an era of overspending and inconsistent FA relievers. Look at the LH'ers out of the pen this year... Eyre, Ohman, and Cotts. There's no guarantee he would provide production, which you can say for Kendall as well at this point, Preach it, UK. The other side of that argument is that we have gotten on Hendry for not selling high and buying low...now he does that, and we're on him about it. that's an awful argument. signing williamson was buying low. signing dempster was buying low. hell, signing miller the first time was buying low. trading for a catcher on the decline is buying stupid. Look I'm not saying it was the mother of all trades. But Kendall has been hitting for the last couple of months, and the catchers that we have left since the awful Barrett trade weren't exactly tearing it up. Yes, I'd rather let Soto have a shot, but if we can get a decent half season out of Kendall, then I don't think this deal is the travesty it's being portrayed as.

  15. Pittsburgh picking up $5.5M makes this much easier to swallow. Welcome to the board!
  16. Ravech on Hanley Ramirez "His initials are H.R."...is that some kind of Harold Reynolds mention?
  17. And Kendall is hitting .276 since June...not great...but ok.
  18. But ESPN.com says it's Blevins and Bowen...lol...good job ESPN.
