  1. The Sox announcers are the reason God invented the mute button.
  2. From what I hear, Marmol has been pitching a lot in the 9th inning when the other teams have their scrubs in.
  3. Agreed. The only way he can adjust and learn from his mistakes is by playing. No other way around it. Agree with both of you.
  4. That was a very nice AB he had in the first. Demp is rolling along nicely.
  5. I was very impressed with Lieber's performance. Loved seeing Aramis go opposite field to pick up an RBI, too.
  6. Len is OK, but Bob is horrible.
  7. Steve Stone was the best announcer the Cubs ever had.
  8. So long, dumbass. Great reply, Lou.
  9. Why only one SP?
  10. I think the funniest thing about people who want them to sell naming rights (or who don't care if they do) is that they think the extra revenue is actually going to go towards the payroll. :pig:
  11. If Trump owned THE CUBS, you'd be OK with him changing it to Trump Field? Because, if that's the case, then I understand this crazy (non-)issue even less. No. It has already been named Wrigley Field and has been that way for damn near a century. It should always remain Wrigley Field.
  12. If Donald Trump owned a team, Trump Field would be OK. Make sense?
  13. OK, so Tribune Field would be (or would have been, however you want to look at it) OK with you? Tribune is a company. All of my examples are family names.
  14. I think the key issue here is SELLING the naming rights. Ted Turner owns the Braves. William Wrigley owned the Cubs. August Busch owned the Cardinals. Does Joe Coors own the Rockies? Does Vinnie Chase own the Diamondbacks?
  15. Personally, I think that's a bit much considering we already have an acceptable secondbaseman. I have no problem giving up Patterson, but I like Gallagher a lot. If I'm giving up Gallagher, I'd rather not give up Veal. Veal may or may not be anything special, but to throw him into the deal to get a player that while an upgrade is not a huge upgrade is a little much. I can understand why the Orioles want to make out like bandits, and this is probably one of those trades where it may be best for both parties to walk away. Sometimes the best deals are the ones you don't make. I agree. That is way too much to give up, IMO.
  16. The Rangers are run by a bunch of morons. It would be a good deal for them straight up. They want us to throw in Ceda or Veal? I think steroids aren't the only drugs that have infiltrated their organization.
  17. I don't think my bank account is big enough for that. It's clear that you just don't love the Cubs enough. I'd give every penny I have right now, but that's probably only enough to get an Old Style and a dog in my bleacher seat.
  18. I don't think my bank account is big enough for that.
  19. I can't post what I really think of Sam Zell on here or I well get banned.
  20. My parents are retired and have been spending the entire month of March out there for about 4 or 5 years now. They have seats 2 rows behind the Cubs dugout right on the aisle. They bought a little place out there and this year are spending 3 months there. I know my dad has been out to watch practice a few times already. I hope to talk to him soon to get his take on what he's seen so far. Are any of you going out there?
  21. Yup, in 2001, he was the Diamondbacks top prospect according to BA That must have been a pathetic farm system at the time when you look at what Cintron put up in 2000 in the minors... 2000 numbers: .301/.338/.404/.742 That is your #1 prospect in 01? Yeesh. I recall Meph saying something in a previous thread where Cintron was brought up about Cintron being considered the next Derek Jeter at one point. Ha! I think he meant to say the next Ralph Jeter, Derek's half-[expletive] stepbrother.
