    so was everybody, amirite? jk, but yeah i was at school. i remember coming home and having my dad flip on the tv for literally the final pitch. I watched all of this game after school (K wood 20 K). And, for some inexplicable reason my dad taped it for me too. Like, the whole game, not when he started dominating. So I have a VHS of it now (just need to find a VCR. Derwood?) I've seen a half dozen games of nondescript Cubs teams in Atlanta but only seen one Cubs game at Wrigley. I saw Doug Dascenzo pitch in a blowout Cubs loss against the Andy Van Slyke and Bobby Bonilla led pirates. Snuck down to maybe ten rows back after everyone bailed on the game. I was probably seven and I think the Cubs lost like 16-4 or something along those lines.

    Just want to say thanks for doing this. I'm biased as a North Carolinian, but I really think from the (somewhat limited) CBB I've watched this year the ACC is hands down the best conference and I'll probably have a hard time bouncing any of them from the first (second now I guess) round in my brackets. I also think UNCW is sneaky good and could upset a team or two. Again, nothing I say here matters because I'm basically ignorant with CBB this year but just my two cents. Mainly I just wanted to say thank you and see if anyone had a sleeper pick to upset in the early rounds of the NCAAT

    Say what you will about Matt Vasgersian, the dude knows how to heighten the excitement and drama of a postseason home run. I'll say that he's way over the top and sounds like nails on a chalkboard. What an odd take. "Way over the top" for a clutch home run in the postseason? Hmm ok

    I was at a conference in Atlanta that night and drinking and watching the game in the sports bar of the hotel. I erupted when he hit it and would have been crushed and embarrassed if that didn't leave the park. But I didn't care if it went out by one inch or one mile - it did the job. I also met a cute blonde from LA with a dodgers hat on that night and told her it was the wrong shade of blue. i think i used the line, "you'll have to excuse me, i'm an argumentative guy. pick a fight with the sky. dont like it's shade of blue" or something (don't believe she got the true detective reference but whatever it worked). ended up texting back and forth and talking horsefeathers during the cubs/la series. of course she was actually attending all the cubs/la games so it really was cruel on her part.

    Between all the cubs playoff highlight videos and now that video, I've pretty much had a happy cry on a daily basis. And that's certainly not a bad thing. Awesome story - thanks for sharing.

    Wtf...this is a much bigger issue than Lester's...throwing back to the pitcher happens kind of often. http://grantland.com/features/30-for-30-shorts-fields-of-fear/ that was really interesting, thanks for sharing. at the risk of derailing the general baseball chit-chat thread, when i'm working with students i always try to eliminate the stigma attached to reaching out for mental health help. i am a firm believer that literally every single person would benefit from talking to a therapist once in a while. you don't have to be depressed or suicidal or anything to benefit from bouncing your feelings off of a completely trustworthy and unbiased person.

    ugh. well, that sucks. since the nba pulled out of Charlotte with the sole reason being HB2 I was hoping they could push the narrative behind the decision this weekend since it's obviously something they (rightfully) take to heart. Not that I guess it matters - our legislators don't care about the 100+ million dollars the state economy is losing on this event alone (not to mention NCAA postseason tournaments and countless other streams of revenue). all that said, it's just a horrible and reprehensible law that makes me sick. the economic factors don't hold a candle to that.

    I probably won't watch much, but I hope they mention about 100 times that this game should have been played in Charlotte but our idiot, shameful, stubborn, hateful state legislators wouldn't repeal HB2. Such an embarrassment for our state and I'm ashamed as a North Carolinian.
