  1. I don't get it. So he's comparing himself and jones to sheffield or (a younger) alou? Newsflash Cliff, your like 40 and fall apart after 40 games every year. why not try to stretch those 40 games out? This quote just doesn't sit well with me. I really thought that Cliff would be a great pickup as a bench player with a start about every 3 days or so. I don't know, I give up. #-o Do you disagree with me or the quote i was referring to? It seemed like you kind of flamed out there at the end. While I may or may not disagree with you're assertion, I'd say you're probably reading into it a bit much. maybe so, it just didn't sit well with me...the last few games have just left me a little irritated i guess.

Please read the article again - Cliff is not complaining about not starting. What? I never said cliff was complaining about not starting. From what I have read, he has no problem platooning. What I do have a problem with was the information he's supposedly passing on to murton and pie. That information being that the reason they are not playing is that there are other veterans ahead of them. Thats all. I like cliff and i like what he brings to this team. I just think the team will benefit more with Pie and Murton playing more days than not. Both offensively and defensively.

  6. I don't have comcast and i've seen cubs OBP on TV, so WGN has to show it as well
  7. wow, that play almost makes up for izturis' .195 BA....almost
  8. why does it seem like everytime the cubs play the strikezone is about the size of a cerealbox to these umps
  9. well at least we have a fresh bullpen if he needs to be pulled early :x
  10. i love lou, but he never seems to un-pop his coller... :(
  11. haha, i swear i didn't even see you post that before i posted my ps. ill take it down
  12. ps - is my sig pic too large for some people, if so i'll take it down.
  13. How about a quality start from miller, who is then traded later on tonight to the yankees for whatever spare change george has in his pocket? :)
  14. Thats the best lineup I've seen to date. Look I know that the Soriano deal was set up with him being the leadoff hitter, but it was also set up for him to be the LF/RF and he had no problem moving to center to help the team out. I don't think he would be that opposed to moving down in the lineup, especially given his struggles at the leadoff spot. I think he's definately pressing and i think moving him down several spots may be the change he needs, instead of being asked to leadoff every game and set the table.
  15. Grass is green? Only when it's uninjured. classic....sadly that is......that it's classic
  16. I'm a moron, but how exactly do i post a pic in my signature, i thought that maybe if i just pasted the link to the picutre, but that didn't work. Thanks.
  17. I hate to sound overly negative to prior's future, but when you expect to see something for several years in a row and are constantly disappointed, then eventually you don't expect the same things you did before....it's just human nature. I will eat every word happily if prior comes back at 100% and makes me look like a fool, but until then i expect nothing from him....nothing more. However I'm much more intrigued in Guzman's first month in AAA, if he lights it up i would not be surprised to see him make his first start around the first of May.
  18. He was only a rookie, but apparently that was the best he will probably ever be, and he choked in the biggest stage in cubs history this side of 1908...sorry if that offends anyone or is too harsh on the then 21 year old. As they say, you live by the sword you die by the sword, i'm happy for his overall first year but he came up just a little short in the biggest situation of the year(s). (though alex gonzalez could have helped out just a little)
  19. Yeah, you kinda just expect the guy who is "bigger-than-life" because that is all he has been built to be since his days at USC. Like I said, i have no idea of his personality bc i haven't met him nor seen enough information about him to make up my mind. Even if he doesn't throw a pitch this season, I myself, was not expecting him too. I have been heart-broken too many times to fall for that. I think that this team is good enough without him or prior (potentially) to win 90+ games and be a legitamate playoff contender(again the constant optimisty sometimes). If he comes back and even is half-way successful then thats great but I am by no means betting on it.
  20. From my POV, there are two ways to take his respones to the questions he was asked: 1 - Him saying "I'm just an employee" is suggesting that he is worth more than "an average employee". He did say it numerous times which calls into question if he was trying to make a point of the term. This take on the interview is that he is an arrogent ass that thinks even if his performance in ST is sub-par he IS MARK PRIOR and since his elbow is connected to his wrist when he throws a ball then he should be any team's ace. 2 - Him saying "I'm just an emplyee" is him taking a quite humble approach to the situation. Since he is an "employee" then he is to be viewed no higher than any other cub. If he sucks in ST, then he gets sent back down till he gets his strength/focus, etc. straight. He is realistic in the situation and understands that since he hasn't really pitched in 2 years that this is standard protocol for any "employee" in any workplace regardless of the situation. I don't know which way he meant it but i'm an optimist(especially in late march) and chose the second view.
  21. luckily marquis is pitching he's our best matchup at the plate(3 for 7) 8-)
