  1. From FanGraphs "Fringe Five: Baseball's Most Compelling Fringe Prospects": http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-fringe-five-baseballs-most-compelling-fringe-prospects-33/
  2. I've wondered this as well. Based on previous comments from the FO, I thought he would almost exclusively play LF for the rest of 2014. But he's caught a lot more to this point than I thought he would and since those comments. I honestly think the front office is on the fence about what to do. The early first-hand accounts since drafted are a lot more complimentary than the pre- and post-draft reports. It seems clear he'll never be an above average catcher defensively. But, IF he can evolve to an average-ish catcher, how long will it take and how much will it delay the bat? Should be interesting to see what happens. My money is still on him landing in LF (a position some didn't (or still don't) see him athletic enough to handle).
  3. He's being sarcastic and making fun of me from the other thread. I visit this board to escape from other areas in my life that can be extremely depressing. and it sucks to know you screwed up and continue to be mocked. I'm probably just overly sensitive from things completely unrelated to this board. and part of me thinks I'll probably be mocked for saying any of this, too. And I know this is a minor league game thread and sorry for another unrelated and far too personal post. I've caused enough mess and I'll just drop it from here on out. Carry on.
  4. Yeah, I'd say so. And I'd also say he's a permanent LF if that's the case. I'd think so, too. His bat is so advanced and as much as I'm encouraged by the reports of his defense behind the plate, I'm not sure it's worth the delay. Especially if there seems to be a good chance he's just not strong enough there in general. But if I'm wrong that's a good thing to be wrong about. I'd also be happy if he sticks in LF. Some doubt he can (law, I think?) but the scouting reports I've heard, overall, lead me to think he's athletic enough. Not to mention every report seems to rave about his game IQ.
  5. Happy to see the home run derby ended before 10:00 est like always just as my channel guide predicted. Every year I wonder why they don't allot more time and just say it will last till 11:30-12:00.
  6. Maybe so. I guess sometimes it's hard to tell. I honestly meant nothing by it and don't say cruel things to anyone, ever, really. I can be argumentative, but I'm not cruel and I'm always willing to admit when I'm wrong. I was wrong. Completely wrong. I understand how it's offensive. And stupid.
  7. I give up. I said it was wrong. It was an egregious error. My intent was not cruel, but it was foolish and wrong and I have admitted this several times. I was drinking. Have any of you ever fucked up and said something stupid when you had been drinking? Is it an excuse? [expletive] no. But then again I've owned up to it from the beginning. I've said it's not a word I use in that light in my everyday vocabulary. That's the truth. I don't know why I typed it but I did. I won't hide behind a typo excuse because that is lame and weak. And I can't prove it to myself or anyone else for that matter. I enjoy this board and respect everyone's views. I never meant to be disrespectful. I don't know what else I can do. I don't know what else to say. It was wrong. Can we please [expletive] move on.
  8. And for what it's worth (probably nothing) it's not a word I use that way in day-to-day life. Not that that makes it ok - it doesn't. I had been drinking some (my life sucks and I do that sometimes) and didn't remember choosing that word. In fact, I missed it in Jerseys first reply and thought maybe I mistyped another word on my iPad. But Im sure it was just a dumb and thoughtless and wrong mistake and word choice. I immediately conceded it was dumb and wrong. Sorry, all.
  9. I mean it would be one thing if I was defending it. I'm not. I agreed it was wrong.
  10. For fucks sake I get it. It was a dumb use of the word, regardless of my intentions. I acknowledged this from the beginning. I'm sorry.
  11. Why you felt the need to compare it to rape is the stupid part. I guess I wasn't thinking in terms of "comparing it to rape". Just like I wasn't comparing actual murder to "murdering baseballs". I get it though, it could be construed as crude and I understand the negative connotation.
  12. i don't where this idea comes from. his line in daytona last year was .281/.343/.467/.810. it's fine for a 21 year old in a pitcher's league, but he hit 8 home runs in 55 games. it's not like he's been annihilating each level like bryant has done. I don't know about rape, but what sets Soler apart is the peripherals (as many have said). He has massive power yet doesn't strike out all that much and he walks at a good clip. The main thing is the contact ability combined with the power, though. I took weis21's statement of how Soler is treating minor league pitching as referring to this year only. I took it to be pretty disgustingly stupid. Of course you did. He's murdering baseballs and mashing AA pitching. Give him 10 more games and call him up if he's ready. All I meant.
  13. Seriously. I get the whole PA thing and, yeah, I guess he could face a little more "adversity", but he's done nothing but rape milb pitching. Promote him to AAA in a week it two, if he beasts there call him up in September. There are protocols for a majority of instances. But not all.
  14. And just think, he was on the back-burner as far as our top-tier prospects coming into this year (not by me, but by many mainstream types). Imagine when Bryant does what Bryant will do and assume Baez will be something in the neighborhood of his talent. Then you still have Soler - who I think/hope will be up here before either Baez/Bryant - Russell, Schwarbs, Almora, Vogelbach, McKinney, etc etc etc Disgusting
  15. Awesome pitching today at KC, I'll be keeping tabs.
  16. Holy [expletive]. I mean I guess I knew it had only been a year, but it seems so crazy when you think he wasn't even a part of this organization 366 days ago.
  17. Cubs will score three in the 7th
  18. Barney tried to Barney another hit but was denied.
  19. I think he was referring specifically to his defense in CF, but I agree.
  20. Just kidding. Olt is the worst blind baseball player of all time
  21. An Olt donger here would be fitting
  22. THREE [expletive] RUNS! Coggy for MVP!
