  1. I'd go Gordon and Garcon
  2. Williams and Ingram
  3. Get a grip, CT. I never made the assertion that this Smith guy was any good. I don't hear "get a grip" as often as I'd like. I think I'll start using it more often. Thanks, Fred.
  4. well this just got awkward

  6. Hendricks and Cahill were especially awesome tonight. For a game I really didn't care much about I'm really encouraged by the pitching. the hitting is always there and capable.I'd rather see the pitching excelling and gaining confidence at this point.
  7. DENO!! must say i didnt see that coming
  8. ARCubsFan is too happy about the Cards winning to care about this game. i find it a tad amusing that (to my knowledge) he's never once countered with "i'm not a cardinals fan" anytime someone accuses him of being a cardinals fan. which is often.
  9. didn't notice that at all, but you are correct. pretty much 2.5 hours right now and going into bottom of 10th. guess on top of no scoring the pitchers have been pretty quick. Game started at 6:00 central. The Cardinals game did, but not the Cubs. lost track of which thread i was in the cards game was over in 9 so what other 10 inning game thread did you think you were in?
  10. castro is so good again. i love it.

  12. everyone else here is watching the cubs in the bottom of the 9th. please, tell us what happened.
  13. Cain's caught a lot of hard hit line drives, fly outs today.
  14. i hope ned is yelling this to his players at the same time you posted this
  15. I'm totally cool with making the 3rd starter some kind of Frankenstein monster made up of pitchers. i'm inclined to agree with you, finally. but after tonight i'd rather give hendricks with ball and just give him a SHORT leash. no harm in that, right? That's pretty much the same thing as a Frankenstein monster made up of pitchers. not if hendricks can throw 6 innings of shutout baseball like he did tonight. i just think he has the best chance to give you extended innings of quality pitching. but then again i (i.e. nobody) really knows what to expect out of any of those guys on any given night. so i think i pretty much talked myself around my own reasoning into agreeing with you. well played.

I'm finally considering a wood/cahill combo would be perhaps a better option. Not totally sold, though. especially after hendricks' effort tonight.

  18. true. and let's be honest who doesn't want to see all these young studs that have turned around this franchise?
  19. OK, so I'll eat a little crow on Cahill. Still not sold he'd obviously be a better option to start over Hammel. But he's been good in his role for sure.
  20. i somehow missed even the replay of the collision on the cubs broadcast. but the aftermath looked pretty horrible.
  21. i hope the cubs win. but i really don't give a [expletive], ultimately. sooooo THIS is what 2014 felt like!
  22. I really don't think it's worth worrying about. The Cubs lead MLB in runs in September (at least up until a few days ago - haven't checked since). They'll either have a good or bad day in the WC game. It's that simple. After that anything is possible. I hear ya. Not super concerned, was mostly checking to see if my observations were correct and don't feel like looking up last 7/last 14 splits haha. yeah i was too lazy too which is why i gave the blanket "not worth worrying about" answer (but I do believe that). Off the top of my head and totally spitballing, I'd say Schwarber, Soler, Rizzo (?) probably haven't been that cold. Perhaps some others, too. Honestly they've run into some really good pitching. But, that isn't really much of an excuse going into the playoffs. Way late here, but how does a ML ump blow that obvious call.
