hey there all - have been having too much fun in the sun here in AZ - haven't had a chance to send my notes along from the couple of minor league games I had a chance to see at Fitch. I'll make them 2 separate posts 22 March - low-A - we didn't get there until the bottom of 4, but here's what happened from there: bottom 4th 16 Thomas (1st base) - struck out looking 2 Cerda - grounded out 6-3 6 Jones - grounded out 6-3 top 5th 55 Liria pitching - gave up 2 singles, a triple and another single before striking out the giant catcher #33 Joseph (while the guy on 1st took 2nd then 3rd on consecutive wild pitches), walked #32 Sanchez, hit the next batter before getting an outfield fly to left to end the inning bottom 5th 20 fitzgerald - flied out to right on a broken bat where the barrel flew back hard and hit the screen. 19 wagner (playing 3rd base) - struck out looking 20 davis - struck out looking top 6th #35 carmina pitching #6 white flies out to shortstop lollis - single, stole 2nd #16 burg - struckout swinging #15 nordgen - grounded out 5-3 bottom 6th 29 ramirez - ball, strike, strike on bunt attempt, ball, groundout 1-3 16 lee (shortstop) - ball, strike, strike, strikout looking 1 watkins - ball, strike, strike (fouled off), struck out swinging top 7th more carmina pitching #7 Eshleman - struckout swinging #16 Izturis reached on a wild pitch 3rd strike swinging - the cub catcher Burruel had him when stealing 2nd but 2nd baseman dropped throw when Joseph struck out #33 Joseph - struck out swinging #29 villegas - flied out to center bottom 7th #20 rosa (catcher thru 7 innings, then replaced by Burruel in top 7) - #6 Burruel - infield hit to shortstop #16 thomas (1st baseman) - ball, strike, strike, ball, ball, walk with advance to 2nd on wild pitch #2 cerda - ball (wild pitch), grounded out 6-3 #6 jones - ball, double to left with RBI (thomas scores) #20 fitzgerald - strike, ball, double to left with RBI (jones scores), took 3rd on passed ball #19 wagner - ball (passed ball), strike, strike, single (broken bat bloop to center) RBI (Fitzgerald scores), stole 2nd #20 davis - ball, strike, strike, struck out looking #29 ramirez - strike, grounded out 5-3 top 8th #37 Ginley pitching - 1,2,3 inning with last out a ground out 5-3 bottom 8th #16 lee - strike, strike (foul), ball, foul, foul, grounded out 6-3 #1 watkins - single, stole 2nd #6 Burruel - ball, ball, strike, ball, single to left RBI (watkins scored) #16 thomas - gidp burruel out 6-4, thomas out 4-3 top 9th #61 morla pitching - single (advanced to 2nd on wp), k, k, k bottom 9th #15 springfield - ball, strike, foul, struck out swinging but reached 1st on passed ball #6 jones - strike, gidp - springfield out 1-4, jones out 4-3 #3 ha - grounded out 6-3 Final score 6-3 cubs win -
I said Colvin - even though Sam is one of my favorite guys. Colvin was *raking* at the plate when I saw them in Goodyear last year, and his body composition has clearly changed since I saw him last. No more gangliness there - he is all muscle. Glad to see him playing so well after so many were questioning his long term viability a couple of years ago.

I think Kane was surprised too. It looked more like good fortune for the Coyotes than anything. That's a tough road matchup for anyone. I'm glad we got a point out of the deal. Still, watching the Hawks blow leads is becoming an all too familiar occurence. he was actually talking with Bryzgalov briefly after the play (think they went to time out before the next face off?) but he was clearly stunned it didn't go in, and gave a little tap to Bryzgalov's pads with his stick, and I thought that little sign of respect was pretty cool.

are the coyotes really "inferior" right now? they're 2 points behind the hawks and have won 8 straight. the hawks are slumping bad and have injuries. the coyotes were probably favorites going into the game the coyotes weren't favorites to win the game...according to the guy next to me at the game, the hawks were favored by a goal and a half. That said, I don't think the coyotes are an inferior team at all. We had seats on the glass last night (my hubby's christmas gift). I was wearing our coyotes jersey and my husband had his hawks jersey on so we had fun with that all night. There was at least 1 goal, probably 2, where Bryzgalov didn't see what was coming. Both teams played great, hard hockey and it was phenomenal to see in person. The coyotes have been a much better team since the coaching change - and the 'yotes are going to be a team to contend with in the playoffs.

my notes from Sat 3/20 at Fitch (I primarily watched the game that Casey Kopitske was managing - the "low A" game) vs Oakland: sp - larry suarez (#46), pitched 1st and 2nd. Looked very good in 1st, lots of swings and misses (not necessarily at strikes). Struggled more in 2nd once A's got a bit more patient. #59 - kirk pitched the 3rd and 4th #43 - schmidt pitched the 5th #34 - keefe pitched the 6th about midway through the 6th we started talking with some folks from Boise, so don't really know from there. Lineup: 16 Lee - 1b in 1st, grounded 4-3 in 3rd, very good plate discipline 29 Ramirez - ss, reached in the 1st but forgot how, bunted a single up the 3rd base line in the 4th, but then picked off 2-3-6 4 Cerda - played 3rd base - gidp 3-6 in 1st 16 thomas - played 1st base - called strikeout in 2nd (last 2 strikes questionable & called after being 3-1 - a MWL ump behind the plate. Ugh), struckout swiming in 4th 6 jones -*nice* double down the right field line in the 2nd, grounded out 6-3(?) in 4th 20 fitzgerald - walked (I think) in 5th, then picked off 1-3 20 Kim - struck out swinging in 5th Burruel - catcher - grounded out 5-3 in 5th 4 Darvill - played 2nd - bloop single to short left in 3rd 13 R Bautista - outfield fly to center in the 3rd The A's catcher was *huge* - I'm guessing 6'4" - 6'5" and 275? He moved like it, though, so hopefully that's good news for the Chiefs vs Kane County in 2010 Sorry there were a few holes - my phone "ate" my original 3 innings of notes, so recreated the best I could recall. We're headed to Goodyear today to see the MLB game, but will be back at Fitch again on Monday where we'll get to see some Giants prospects too - that'll be nice, as their low-A team isn't in the MWL. Will try and do something similar again on Monday. For those that may want to catch a game at Fitch (or somewhere else in greater PHX), here's the schedule: http://cubs.scout.com/2/955234.html -
I'm wondering if I'm not seeing it because I'm new too. Right next to the Fantasy tab, I've got a "Brackets" tab, but then from there, is there a specific Roadkill league? I'm not seeing anything like that at all, nor does there appear to be a spot to "look up" a group name. Any suggestions welcome :-)

Hi guys! Thanks for the well-wishes. I had my surgery on Thursday in the late afternoon, and got discharged yesterday late morning. I'm still pretty sore, but am shuffling around the house pretty well. Just can't drop anything on the ground as I can't really bend down yet. You don't quite realize what you take for granted until you can't do things like you used to. The good news is that I've got my follow-up with the surgeon on Wednesday and should still be able to get on the plane for AZ on Friday (as long as I promise to get up and walk around so I don't get a blood clot!) I really appreciate you holding the draft for me - it was much appreciated. Now I've basically been told not to go to work next week (we'll see how I'm feeling!) so shouldn't hold things up any longer!
-
crud - I forgot to do this yesterday after the game. I'm at work at the moment and won't have my list until I get home around 5. I'll understand if you want to skip me. I'll be able to drop someone and pick up a FA minor leaguer after the prospect draft's done, right? Sorry to hold things up!
-
I'll go grab my list once the hockey game has a commercial. Priorities! :D
-
alright, like I said, I'm taking Josh Reddick, OF, Red Sox
-
drat - sorry, all. I was paying attention to the CBS database, not the actual picks. Will take another look and try again :-)
-
I'll take Kyle Gibson, rhp, Twins I'm taking a quick look at the minor leaguers I inherited - I may decide to drop someone to pick up another pick or 2
-
Freddie Freeman, 1B, Braves
-
I'll take Wil Myers, c, KC
-
sorry - *some* of us have to work around here!!! I'm going to take a pick that I hope will pay off in the majors in 2010 - Drew Storen, RP - Washington Nationals
-
so, with my avid love for spreadsheets, I thought I would make one that included NSBB name, along with team name, etc. I'm new, so still trying to put names in one place with names elsewhere, and hopefully this will help. http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Aio7z7CoxX0idEZnUGFDa2U3aDdOaHAxRXdzSmlWdkE&hl=en There were only a couple of folks that I couldn't figure out simply by their postings - Deven and Adam. Help? Also, was curious if someone with more power than I could do a review of the current list of stickies and announcements for this forum? There seem to be some that could be combined (rules with rules updated, for instance) and others that could likely get "de-stickied". Not sure if it has to be a mod or what, but figured there we weren't lacking for those around here.
-
is there an easy way to get a listing of the minor leaguers available? I'd like to do some prep, but couldn't find a good way to determine who was out there. Thanks!
-
The site itself actually shows that the deadline to set keepers is 2/15 (today), but would guess that would be 11:59:59, so would think we should be able to see who's available tomorrow? Here are the keepers for Sock It Thome (sorry I didn't post yesterday!!!) 1B Chris Davis - exempt 3B Gordon Beckham - exempt SS Derek Jeter - 521.5 OF Carl Crawford - 505.2 OF Xavier Nady - 15.5 SP Matt Cain - 615 SP Luke Hochevar - exempt SP Tommy Hunter - exempt RP Brian Fuentes - 264.5 Total Points - 1921.7 Minors: 1B Logan Morrison OF Brian Bogusevic OF Kyle Blanks OF Aaron Hicks OF Ryan Kalish OF Lastings Milledge SP Andrew Miller Am I correct that all minor leaguers don't count against the 2000 point limit? The only player that would affect is Milledge, and I'll just drop him if his points count, but just wanted to check :-)
-
Am I correct that Andrew Miller is still exempt?!? http://mlb.mlb.com/team/player.jsp?player_id=453192 Just wanted to be sure I had things right! Thanks in advance
-
my check went in the mail to you yesterday afternoon, Juan! Hopefully it arrives in the next couple of days.
-
Tanners makes me happy :D The apples are great, but the apple cider donuts and cherry turnovers just made me gain 5 pounds sitting here thinking about them. Mmmmm....
-
thanks everyone, for the warm welcome. This is my first keeper league, so will try and get up to speed quickly and not hand off the entire farm to Tim in the first 3 days...I appreciate the heads-up though!!! I have fixed my team name and pic, though, as lovely as they previously were, I'm now the "Sock It Thomes" - and for whomever has sent me a trade, give me a day to see if I can figure out all the points, etc so I can decide if it's something I want to pursue. 10 days until pitchers and catchers, people!!! \:D/
-
looking forward to joining the league - my first keeper, so am trying to figure things out a bit :-)
