  1. Don't think anyone has mentioned it, but the Solar Sox will be managed by current Chief manager Casey . So glad to see him get this great opportunity!
  2. have to say that Monday night's game in Peoria was very entertaining to watch...and I haven't said that a lot this year. Even though the Chiefs lost, they were consistently getting on base, and that's an encouraging sign.
  3. there are a bunch of Cubs folks in Peoria this week. It's great having them in town! I overheard Tim Wilken mentioning Brandon's # of doubles this year, seeming to be very pleased at the production he's having.
  4. while Junior had a great bat in Peoria last year, his main issue was defense. Certainly not solid there. A good arm for sure, but the whole catching the ball always seemed a struggle, then an accurate throw wasn't always in the mix either, even though his arm had plenty of power to get it there. His defense was bad enough last year that the group I sit with would just let up a big groan if we saw it hit that way. Hak Ju Lee this year has been refreshing. His bat isn't the same, and he has some errors, but it's more because he's trying to make crazy plays and can't always pull them off. Junior just doesn't compare defensively.
  5. Completely agree on both counts. If you have time while you're in Peoria, the Chiefs are home Wed-Fri...as a season ticket holder I've got a bajillion unused tix I'd be happy to reallocate to you (well, at least a few). Know that a family passing can be tough, but if you get a chance, would love to meet you (and other family too if they'd like to come)!
  6. With Magglio going down with a broken ankle, I've put him on the dl and picked up Angel Pagan and put him in my lineup...
  7. That's perfectly fine. Guys coming off the DL or promoted midweek can be left there to finish the week or a move made right away if manager wants to make a change. This is pretty well what happened to me with Baker last week too, but I went in and fixed it yesterday, so all is right with the Thomes
  8. If someone could just send a new bullpen to Peoria, that would be great, thanks. For such a good team, the chiefs are scuffling right now. Maybe Wrigley will wake them up on Wednesday...

    Week 14

That makes sense to me...do lineups still need to be locked on Mon or do we have until we'd or thurs? Also, on the topic of starts, my opponent this week seems to have 9 scheduled...what do I do about this?
  10. I almost caught you Robert! Considering how far back I was early, I was satisfied with not getting trounced.
  11. Ya, I started getting pissed with Cain, but then realized it would probably be the last bad start for a while. Well, that and he's been about the only decent, consistent piece of my team. Still, ugh.

    Week 7

Holy crap - I can't believe how nervous I am... Just 2 points separates the Quakers and Sock It Thome. I really, really don't like the yanks, but with Jeter all that's left, I'm hoping he comes through for me tonight!

I'd rather wait until later too... Can someone remind me at what point the draft order gets set though? All-Star break?

  16. here's a *little* more info from Nate's notes of 4/20: April 17: LH James Leverton added from Extended Spring Training; RH Jonathan Nagel placed on disabled list (right arm stiffness) Those game notes are great - is there any way to link those here at NSBB? I like how it gives us each pitcher's repertoire. Thanks Karen. always happy to give a plug for all the hard work going on in the MILB press boxes :-) Here are the couple of spots that you can get at notes: Iowa - http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/news/archive.jsp?category=releases&sid=t451 Peoria - Nate's new blog (required reading - come on now people!!!) http://peoriachiefs.mlblogs.com/

  18. it was *soooo* good to see the Chiefs bats finally wake up on Sunday...I was starting to wonder. Also great to see a game with no errors for the good guys. I was impressed with Struck...he struggled a bit in the first couple of innings, but then really seemed to settle down and pitch well for the last 3 he was in. Woo hoo - looking forward to seeing Ted on Monday!

    Week 1

good deal - am I correct in assuming that the roster changes need to take place for the start of the "week" on Sunday, then? Just don't want to get messed up again!!!

    Week 1

You can change SP to get your seven starts in. Other than that, you are generally correct. I know Karen is new, she might have just not caught that in the rules when she switched out Bourn for Ordonez today. No doubt in my mind that's what it is. I've been in other leagues with her and I don't think she'd try to get by with anything. The other baseball league we're both in is a daily change league, so that may just be what she's used to. Darn, you guys are absolutely right. This is what I get for not showing up here more frequently. So when do rosters "lock" for a week? Sunday? I apologize, I was thinking this league worked like every other league I've ever been in and could be continuously updated. Thanks for setting me straight (and allowing me to understand what my "-29" penalty was for week 1 - lesson learned, and will be sure to have things appropriately locked in, so long as I know by when!!!
  22. looks like we may have rain here in Peoria - will hope it holds off (or clears a little early)
  23. as far as the Chiefs are concerned, anyone who's done rehab with them "counts" - and I'm good with that :D
  24. here's a thing I did for my new blog tracking where past Chiefs have gone...thought it might be of interest to some of you... http://karenmacinpeoria.blogspot.com/2010/04/former-chiefs-in-2010.html
