  1. here's what Pat from the Daytona booster club had to say re: Ryan as of late:
  2. here's what I found from the Cardinals transactions section...pretty well what's already been said: We saw him play with the Swing a couple of times when they were in Peoria, and he had actually made the adjustment to RF pretty darn well. He covered the territory out there effectively and had a bat that was killing the ball. With that said, though, he would have (in theory) been off the 15 day DL a while back, and hasn't been assigned to a team yet, so who knows.
  3. 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K. That's one way to put it. mmmmmmmm....Veal.
  4. took a look, and it appears that the last time Harvey was in the lineup was 5/13 vs. Ft Myers (where it looks like he went 0-5) I know he hasn't been hitting, but am wondering what's up if he's been out nearly a week. Didn't see anything anywhere about him being on the DL, so who knows what could be up. Interesting, though, that Daytona has won 7 straight or something like that without him in the lineup. Hmmmm...
  5. Chirinos leads off with a HR in the 1st!!! woo hoo - his 3rd of the year. :sunny: I wish I took the day off.
  6. This got sent along to me from a Librarian Baseball fan group I'm a part of...this totally cracks me up. I have nothing more.
  7. in fact, he should be playing tonight vs West MI...he's been hitting consistently well, and I've been impressed with him behind the plate too. It's tough, because the catcher he's been alternating with, Jake Muyco, is playing similarly well (I would say both are better than either Alan Rick or Oscar Bernard that were here last year). Speaking of Alan, anyone know what they're feeding him down in FL? He's got 3 HR in the last 2 games  Last year here in Peoria, he was great defensively, but wasn't hitting for anything. Hopefully he's breaking out of that and can get something going.
  8. to go along with this, I was listening to "Baseball this Morning" on XM during my drive in to work this morning. They have a new segment on called "Give Me Some Lovin'" - not sure if it was a sweep, but Mark gave his today to Dusty :pukel: while O was a little more general for the cubbies. Missed Buck's pick, as it was time to go into the parking garage, but it's getting hard for the national press to miss just how bad we are right now. Ugh.
  9. Jake and Mark trade off games at C, and it just happened to be Mark's day off, so I don't think it's lack of skill at C at all...from the way Nathan was talking during the broadcast, the Chiefs were having some issues. Kyle Reynolds came out in the 3rd for "dry eyes" http://www.peoriachiefs.com/news/?id=5794 It sounded like they were completely out of position players on the bench after Mark went in...hopefully everyone will be feeling better today. Go Chiefs! Karen
  10. Ack! That's not good at all. It's too bad for Collins too, he was just starting to really hit again. Nothing like cold weather to bring out the injuries. :( Hopefully whatever laid Davy up won't be too prolonged and we'll be able to get him back in the line-up soon. We'll be listening - at least I'll know what's up with the lineups now. Go Chiefs! Karen
  11. nope, it just sounded like they didn't want to play too much havoc with the rotation - Taylor got skipped due to the couple of rainouts... here's the article Nate wrote yesterday...http://www.peoriachiefs.com/news/?id=5781 Chiefs are up 4-1, Muyco with 2 rbi. bottom 4 Nate's description of baseball-pingpong had me laughing enough earlier that I missed who the champion ended up being! :D good times, good times. Karen
  12. The Chiefs have once again been victims of the rain in Indiana tonight. The following rain-out message was posted mid-day or so http://www.peoriachiefs.com/news/?id=5781 They'll try and play 2 tomorrow starting at 4 central, although the forcast isn't looking great. Hopefully the boys packed long sleeves as it's downright chilly to be at the ballpark. It does appear that Scott Taylor's turn in the rotation is now being skipped and it'll be Atkins/Billek starting for the Chiefs tomorrow. :titanic: hopefully we don't get any more washouts! Karen
  13. According to the Chiefs website, the game today was a washout. http://www.peoriachiefs.com/news/?id=5771 Game is scheduled to be made up 2 June when Ft Wayne is in Peoria. So much for having a diversion while eating lunch... :) Karen
  14. ack! benches clear in the Peoria / Ft Wayne game after ft wayne guy slides hard into 2nd and Robinson Chirinos doesn't like it. no punches, but what the heck?!? ick, another hit, now it's 8-6 chiefs...
  15. the game tonight was *great* - our seats are 17 rows back behind the plate (section 108). Wood looked wonderful, as has already been captured. For those that would like to see the blow-by-blow, I scanned my scorecard for the night. I can't promise I got every pitch, but came close. I had 70 pitches right on the nose too, and that matched Nate's info (always a good sign!) http://karen.mackenzie.org/chiefs/2006/LugnutsChiefs05072006.pdf The Norwood homer in the 10th made me glad I stayed! Woo hoo - I believe this puts the Chiefs into 1st in the division... Have a good night all! Karen
  16. for those of you coming to Peoria tonight, they are opening the gates an hour and a half before game time. If you've got berm tickets, you'll want to be there then to snag an actual spot on the lawn. On a night like tonight, it will be crazy, so hopefully everyone got actual seats to this one :) I'll most likely be helping at the booster club booth tonight - stop by and say hi! Oh, and buy lots of 50/50! And pick up an application for membership - it's only $8 for an individual and $10 for a family! OK, I'm done now. Go Cubs! Go Chiefs! Karen
  17. he's actually pitching in the Missouri Valley - I think Creighton? They did an article in the local Peoria paper when he pitched here a couple of weeks ago against Bradley...pictures available on the Creighton website: http://www.gocreighton.com/index.asp It looks like Fox Sports Midwest is going to broadcast their Sunday game beginning at about noon. Amazing stuff. Karen
  18. I was wondering, do you know what pitches Mitch throws? He's certainly been impressive so far this season. I am *so* not the person who would know this, but according to this story at scout.com, he's got a fastball, curve & change. His fastball looked to be consistently 90+ last night. Now we just need to start generating some runs and get him some wins! Karen
  19. Yepez did not have his best stuff last night to be sure. According to my informal counts, he made 83 pitches over 4 innings, with only 36 for strikes. At one point, we were joking that they should just not worry about the batter, put them all on 1st so we could pick them off instead of having to actually pitch. oh well. Jesse Estrada, thankfully, looked great in relief. I felt bad that Mitch Atkins didn't get a win. He was spot on and looked great through his entire outing. At least it was warmer last night than on Sunday :) Go Chiefs! Karen
  20. Absolutely! Most of the season-ticket holders for the Chiefs are businesses that buy a block of box seats or a full/partial suite. There are many fewer of us individual types that hold season tickets. The Chiefs also do 1/2 season packages and 10-15 game packs too...we've been working our way up over the years! This business support makes a huge difference in the scheme of things - for instance, last night we had an announced attendance of a bit more than 1800 even though there were probably less than 1000 that actually showed. Just took a look at the Diamond Jaxx site, and field box seats are just $400 for the season - that's considerably less than we pay here in Peoria. :) Karen
  21. From my email inbox this AM... Who knows what will come of this, but we can hope, right? Happy Monday all :) Karen
  22. Hi Micah! Thanks so much for taking the time to answer questions for us. Congratulations on your great start :) I was wondering what it was like having a younger brother playing in the minors (and for the Cardinals org no less!). So often, we get to hear what it's like for the kid brother, but was curious about your experience as the elder sibling. All the Best wishes for Future Success! Karen
  23. It stopped raining for a bit here in Peoria this morning, but started up again about 20 minutes ago. We'll see what that ends up meaning for later on tonight, but I'm not terribly hopeful. The good (?) news is that the game on Sunday is not scheduled to start until 6:30pm, and was only scheduled as a single game. O'Brien Field is shared with the Bradley baseball team, and they had at least a game scheduled for this afternoon. Due to the Bradley game, the plan is for the Chiefs to play 2 7-inning games tomorrow, Monday 1 May, starting at 5pm (doors open at 4) I suppose if we get rained out today, they'll play 2 on Tuesday as well. Good thing Wednesday is an off-day :) Also, since the Chiefs are on an 8 game homestand, I believe there are several families in town to visit, so hopefully that's a good thing. Believe it or not, I guess it was crazy for them to find rooms to stay in this past weekend, due to a huge soccer tournament going on in town (yick - some weekend to have to sit out and watch soccer!) Peoria Radar in Motion: http://www.weather.com/weather/map/61615?name=index_large_animated&day=1 So much for getting my flowers planted this weekend - guess it will have to wait a bit longer. Best, Karen
  24. Harvey just walked and got an RBI out of it as the bases were loaded. Who knows, maybe he's starting to get the message?!? Of course, it is 11-2, not in favor of the cubs...
  25. I've actually found the Peoria broadcasts to be pretty good this year. There are those weird chunks of static, but these seem less frequent than at the beginning of the year. Overall, seems better than the live365 feed last season. In fact, I listen on milb.com instead of the radio, because out here in suburban Peoria, WOAM doesn't always come in great. Go Chiefs! Karen
