  1. Delgado is a stud, Marquis? Not so much. True. I'm just advancing a general strategy. You think that the Royals wouldn't trade a lesser prospect for Marquis instead of paying Gil Meche 5/$55? I'm not asking for Gordon, Butler or Hochevar. I feel that Izturis is Cedeno is a glove and a longer resume. At least Izzy isn't Christian Guzman. Why would the Royals trade that deal for Marquis when they signed Meche first?
  2. Which makes it harder to accept that at best he will be platooning with Cliff Floyd this upcoming season. "At best"? What are you talking about?
  3. Well, that would certainly suck.
  4. If I bought six tickets for the 4/21 Cardinals game on one mlb.com account and six more for the same game on a different account, all while using the same credit card and address, I am probably going to lose the second batch of six, right? I didn't realize that there was a limit of six per game for the whole weekend. I thought it was just a limit of six for every time I got through. Too bad really as I was really trying to get a big group of bleacher tickets for that game for a bachelor party.
  5. I have 36 tickets--all Saturday games. I'm pretty pumped. But, also feeling a little buyer's remorse.
  6. I like his sense of humor.
  7. Has anyone affiliated with the team indicated anything like this? Rightly or wrongly, it seems like the club itself is feeling pretty good about having Izturis there. agreed. despite the feelings on this board to the contrary, very few if any winning teams have all star players at all 8 positions. if izturis can stay healthy, hit .250 and play excellent defense i think the cubs will be very happy with his production. with 4 potential .900 ops guys (5 if you include murton), i highly doubt a light hitting ss will keep this team from contending. Building a team based on players who wont "keep this team from contending" is hardly a solid approach to take. I fail to see where somebody said it was.
  8. They moved the wristband site for the third time in three years. Now, you have to go into Wrigley from a door pretty much right under the left field foul pole. #1319 here. I was in and out at about 8:15 this morning. No wait at all. Plus, they gave me a lame Old Style blue wool "drinking glove" just for being there.
  9. I'm quite sure people called Sammy out on it.
  10. Or that it doesn't matter how you carry yourself as long as you are good at what you do?
  11. So what if I do??? What baseball player does? Like I said before, a baseball player is only expected to give his all for a given number of times a game. Ramirez isn't running to first when Barrett hits one down the line, is he? I'm just saying that some fans take offense to players not going 100% the few times they are asked to during the duration of a ballgame. I see no reason for demeaning fans that like who value character, hard work, and a respect for the game.
  12. For some. Not everybody. Exceptions don't always make the rule. Please. No one, at any job, ever, goes 100% all of the time. I'm sure a fair share go 100% for a large percentage of the time. And they would certainly do so for the whole 10-20 times per ballgame that a player is required to do so.
  13. What adds to this is that a lot of the fans bust their butt in the workplace to make a pittance of what professional ballplayers make and have no patience for a player who doesn't give 100% effort to play a game. I'm not making a judgment on Ramirez one way or another here, but am just trying to give some perspective as to the reasons some fans have the viewpoints that they do. And yet a lot of the complainers don't really bust their own butts 100% of the time, but they get all sanctimonious when complaining about ballplayers because it makes themselves feel better. What is your point? I was merely giving an example of why some fans might feel that way. How does your post change what I said? He's pointing out the hypocrisy of the hustling issue. For some. Not everybody. Exceptions don't always make the rule.
  14. Abuck, if you continue to take such a negative personal interest in my posts, feel free to place me on "ignore." Thank you.

  16. If people are too immature or naive to know the difference between professional athletes and school kids they've got bigger problems. How is the principle of the matter that different? Apparently I am too immature to see the marked difference. Surely you can see the forest over the trees of his example.

  18. Seriously? This is what people care about? Why do you take such personal offense to this topic?
  19. I don't think that is true at all. I was about 600 away two years ago and just made it to the ticket window once the online tickets went on sale at 10:00.
  20. ??? Yes, that is what I am talking about. Those numbers are much more telling. There is less "interference", so to speak.
  21. Is it really any different than ESPN in general?
