  1. when the hell was anyone excited about Sam Fuld? very depressing - though im very excited about Vitters - that we could/should have two of the top ten
  2. Because it's a personal thing for me and that shouldn't determine what's good for the board. The Z thread was different because it was started by a Card troll and Budhouse felt that Wood would break down or not be able to be a good closer, which he has been wrong so far, and imo that's different. you're a mod and an adult, grow up
  3. Hey, if I told you that there was a prospect in someone else's system that was a raw, college guy who had good, projectable stuff and was having more success at AAA than he had at any other level and at times looked pretty legit... there'd be reason for cautious optimism.
  4. Post here if you read this. I need to make sure we have everyone back for this season and then we can start the draft up.
  5. Try perfect game Sorry, sportsline has the cubs down for an error
  6. Wow, Carlos is a Dunn homer from heading into the 9th with a no-hitter
  7. TalkedToLenOnAIM
  8. Hopefully trade Rasmus for Burnett, who blows out his elbow
  9. Definitely Nomar, the board exploded and it birthed Treeman's thread of the century
  10. I did once, to Cloverfield of all movies. Everyone was at work or out of town and it was the middle of the week, so I said screw it. Got a soda and a bucket of popcorn and had a great time.
  11. It's exteremly tough to find that kind of data at rookie league games - MiLB.com lists it in their box scores for AAA and there are announcers and many fans at games at other levels who could keep track of that but that doesn't happen in the AZL. That info would have to come from the coaching staff, probably into a local Chicago rag's story on Hill. Or maybe AZPhil at the Cub Reporter could provide it, had he taken note of it. AZ Phil does a pretty good job reporting on such things. How do you know that? i'm assuming he can count. Have there been previous instances in which AZPhil has provided pitch counts? Was Vance there to validate the accuracy of the pitch counts? It just seems like an odd thing to say someone is good at. All he meant was that AZ Phil does a good job on reporting on the AZL stuff, anal andrew
  12. Agreed. He certainly has plenty of philosophical flaws (which he may have come around on, actually), but he has put together 3 blockbuster deals over the last 6 years when his team was in serious contention. Prior to his tenure as GM, I can't really remember the Cubs being anywhere near as aggressive. I was fixing to post the official apologize to Hendry thread More importantly, what about the apologize to sweet swingin billy williams thread?
  13. Holy crap what a deal. Still have pieces for another deal down the road, too. Oh my god, I'm beyond excited. PLEASE STAY HEALTHY. I DONT KNOW WHAT IM SAYING
  14. I'm just going to go out and say it; despite Sabathia being a Brewer now, I still love him. That will increase ten fold if he ditches milwaukee in the offseason and signs with us
  15. but is there any kind of indication that he IS
  16. Can you verify this? I had BBTN on ITB (in the background) but I didn't hear anything about Harden. LLANSBBS! (Looks like another NSBB scoop) I saw something about it. Didn't see the actual segment, but I saw the pre-commercial promo for it where Ravich said something like "Are the Cubs close to getting Harden?" But like what always happens, a bunch of media outlets report a story using the same source (in this case the Sun-Times) and people assume that "everyone" is reporting it. So, what you're saying is that the Cubs are going after Rich Harden? According to the Sun-Times, yes. NO KIDDING? ARE YOU FOR REALLLY SERIOUS?

  19. Here's a quick hitter. Wandering around at work, there's a hallway that is wall papered with pages of old newspapers, here's an "article" from one from sometime between 1911 and 1918. "Joe Benz, the Chicago White Sox pitcher, has taken up golf and will probably do well if permitted to spit on the ball."
  20. Gosh, how do I put this nicely without promoting an attack or coming across as an arrogant know it all? Please don't take this the wrong way. That is what she is supposed to say to you and doesn't mean he is working on any deal nor that he will get the message. She does her job well. rhonda's a real pro. Not like that lazy guy in the mailroom, screw that guy Somebody here already did if you catch my drift
  21. i'm going to give cancer a call and tell it to get the hell out!
