  1. this is fantastic, a 90 page paper, hahahahaha. jason alexander's book wasn't even that big.
  2. pretend there's a picture of a facepalm right here
  3. albert pujols signed a deal to play baseball... biiiiiig surprise there, albert. try something else every once in a while. not following you're annoyed by the fact that gammons is going to make money doing what he's best at. it's stupid. ??? I was clearly referring to the whole Red Sox thing, not journalism/reporting in general. christ he's the best red sox guy around. he's followed them in some capacity for like 90 percent of his career, and now he has a chance to cash a check for following them directly. he's free of ESPN, why wouldn't he work for the team he's covered his whole career now that he has the chance? i cant believe im arguing with a 12 year old
  4. i'm sure it played somewhat less of a role than his familiarity with how much dough he was getting paid
  5. Well, at least we go to Texas this year. Maybe I can see Harden in person. I'll actually feel more comfortable buying a Harden shirtzee if he's not a Cub. Maybe this is what made Hendry want to no re-sign him.
  6. sometimes i feel like that, but i watch UNC-Duke every year in college basketball, and those are meaningless too, and I hate both teams. a college football playoff would work. the regular season would be different at first and it would take some getting used to, but it would work.
  7. No it wouldn't. The Cubs aren't going to lose money because Milton Bradley is around. They aren't going to lose fans to the White Sox. The only fans that would leave the Cubs because Milton is around would be racist white people, and I don't see any racist white people who are Cubs fans rushing to support the White Sox. The Cubs will lose fans, and money, if they wallow around in mediocrity much longer. If they go back to the 2005/2006 let's just make sure we're all nice guys who get along no matter how much we lose ways, then they will lose fans and money. The way to make money in Chicago sports is to win. Wrigley didn't become the place it is today until after 1998, and it didn't become the year-in-year-out sellout until 2003 when fans were given the taste of what could be. Nice guy teams and PR strategies don't sell tickets. Winning does. I'm not worried about the Cubs losing fans (racist or not) to the White Sox. The real worry is losing advertising dollars and sponsors to the White Sox. Most companies are pretty conservative and may not want to be associated with a mediocre team with a loony-toon acting out weekly. HAHAHAHA. So they'll go to the white sox with ozzie guillen and his racist, homophobic rants? Come on dude, stop.
  8. LOL so now we have another class of racist -- those that point out when others have incorrectly attributed racism to a situation that involves none. The lunacy in this thread has officially reached mind-numbing proportions. if you had just pointed it out, it wouldn't have been as obvious. but instead you assumed he attributed it to you (he didn't. at all.) i'm good at figuring things out. just give it up.
  9. Yeah, if you quit following the Cubs because Bradley is here I'd bet heavily on you being a racist, or an idiot at the very least. Seriously, I'm only the 2nd person to think race played any part in this? How do you come up with such incredibilyi ignorant statements? So why didn't a racist like me quit following the Cubs when they had Sosa and Dunston and Dawson and Fergie Jenkins and Billy Williams etc etc. on the team? You realize those players are the same race as Bradley right? these comments are basically doing exactly the opposite of what you want them too. you just look more racist. Not to anyone with a functioning brain and a grasp of what the term racist means they don't. no one had even called you racist or even implied that you were racist. you fit none of the terms of the so-called racists he was describing, but for some reason you came swooping in with "IM NOT A RACIST, CHECK IT OUT THAT'S DUMB IM NOT EVEN CLOSE TO RACIST." i can read between the lines

It's not his skin color that's creating this animosity. Did you leave the Cubs? then it doesn't apply to you. methinks you dost protest too much.

  14. i guess you could say that i have to be "the voice of reason"
  15. oh, i thought they merged them who cares about those other ones anyway, i want to discuss notre dame football with some real unrealistic notre dame fans anyway
  16. no interest in the thread? it's the coaching search thread, dummy, it's not just about whatever scrub coach ND will end up with (though if they take Kelly, they'll be doing better than I thought.)
  17. i remember my first beer everything i've said in this thread has been true, but you're all so desperately clinging onto the football glory ND had when you were 7 years old that you can't see it. This is not trolling, this is keeping it real. You're all basically trolling yourselves because, like Notre Dame's administration, you'd rather pretend you're something that your not.
  18. god, ND has the softest fanbase in all of sports. grow some thicker skin, you nerds.
  19. Peter Gammons is awesome. He's a good writer, he has access like no one else and he loves baseball.
  20. apart from parity? That's like saying, apart from ending segregation, i fail to see what's different about the world as opposed to the 1920s.
  21. ND fans are quite delusional if you and GR are representative samples, and I think you are. However, if they get Kelly they will be getting a very good coach. He's a pretty good defensive guy, the trick is getting the kids. I think you and the rest of the ND fans will be happy with him. I don't think ND will every be considered a top program on a consistent basis ever again unless they join a conference. We all know how the Domers feel about that. Pride. WE ARE ND! Miami won like 100 titles in the 1980s immediately before joining a conference. Florida State was consistently top 5 before joining a conference. Penn State won for a billion years before joining a conference. Pretending conference membership cures an ill is a ridiculous opinion. It's not the 80s anymore Andy, though I can understand why ND fans wish it was. Seriously though, the college football landscape is worlds apart from what it was in the 80s, that was an idiotic post.
  22. For God's sake, quit trolling. you're the one that made the comparison, andrew, not me. I also put Bama in there, who is considered a huge brand in college football, but you ignored that and went for the one that would rile people up. Like I should've been surprised. Bama is about to win a national title and they went to a BCS game last year, no comparison to ND
  23. For God's sake, quit trolling. you're the one that made the comparison, andrew, not me.
  24. wow, my bad. yeah, sorry andy, let me apologize real quick. Notre dame is a lot like the FIFTH best team in the SEC. Glad that's cleared up.
