  1. this level of hate this early is really cool because this is what i was forseeing last year when everyone was like WE'RE IN FIRST PLACE LOL WE'VE WON 94 GAMES
  2. It's butt, because signing a baller hitter would ideally give the Cubs at least a bit more freedom to maybe work out some kind of a trade for a non-butt pitcher. it's kind of true though. i wanted harper badly but i also thought it was a little odd that everyone was seemingly cool with the pitching i dont remember anyone being cool with the pitching. I do remember realizing that Kikuchi (never not going to seattle) and Corbin were like the only SP options out there. If you ask me who I want to dedicate my offseason chase to, harper or Corbin, I'm gonna take Harper every time regardless of the condition of the pitching staff now obviously we could do neither because daniel descalso needed to be wined, dined and 69ed but still
  3. I thought lester seemed fine on thursday. not overwhelming obviously, but he kept the ball in the park against a good offense in a hitters park. He succeeded exactly like 2019 jon lester should. Darvish was obviously butt, but Hamels seemed pretty sharp outside of one bad inning. He looked like Bizarro Hamels who was somehow good for us last year. Hendricks should be fine and I'm going to trick myself into believing in Quintana again until he proves otherwise. We really just need a couple of gosh damn relievers
  4. what are you even arguing I'm not arguing anything. I was on the "sign Harper bandwagon" along with everyone else. But in the very small sample size of the 2019 season, I don't think Harper in the lineup would have made up for the laughably bad pitching this train of thought never really even got close to the tracks did it
  5. we went from super team to bote and zagunis in the blink of an eye
  6. It's butt, because signing a baller hitter would ideally give the Cubs at least a bit more freedom to maybe work out some kind of a trade for a non-butt pitcher. If only we scored 10 runs/game instead of 9.3 runs/game everything would be fine what are you even arguing
  7. It's butt, because signing a baller hitter would ideally give the Cubs at least a bit more freedom to maybe work out some kind of a trade for a non-butt pitcher. Not to mention like .... what pitcher did you want them to sign anyway, keuchel?
  8. this is the future liberals want
  9. I really don't want every Cubs game to look like a Big XII football game why
  10. we're gonna win the hendricks start and i firmly believe that
  11. while yes it's bad that our roster is an unmanageable mess thanks to god-awful signings (darvish, chatwood, heyward, morrow, hamels [if you're feeling really nihilistic]) and the minors are bare and that any time a bad contract rolls off the books it will immediately replaced by arbitration raises given to our actual good players, the good news is that Theo is really only Theo when he's being forced to use his brain and not a checkbook. that's when he finds arrietas and strops and hendrickses.
  12. I think this is a needed post. Not sure people like Duker or Tim are going to post enough to call us ninnies or tell us #wearegood. We need at least somebody to point out overreactions after three games. Of course both duke and Tim were wrong last year. The context here is obviously the key part. No 3 game series, particularly the very first one, means anything - yet the cubs lost exactly how a look at their roster predicted they would. The Yankees and Red Sox don’t have the same roster issues (actually the Red Sox might) My fear about the pen is not only that it might not be good, the only reliable parts are a mid 30s strop who looked washed late last year and cishek (same.)
  13. im gonna have so much time for activities this summer since i dont have to watch this trash team the whole year
  14. why would anyone be upset about someone actually marketing a baseball player
  15. heyward with the first-pitch 100-foot popup lol
  16. petition to call descalso "WPA" until he stops being clutch
  17. gallo was trying to hit the cutoff man in section 122
  18. im sure things will get better when we start facing teams that aren't expected to lose 100 games
  19. kris bryant was in the original filming but he politely asked alex bregman to be for mindful of pitchers' feelings so they cut it
  20. gonna be sick when the FO panics and gives kimbrel $20m a year and he's broken and we're left wondering why we gave harper money to hamels and a reliever
