  1. Quit being reasonable. Wood is a bum who doesn't care about winning, and just enjoys collecting his paycheck. We should get rid of him already. Afterall he's never won 15 games. I like Wood and want him to do well, but we should still get rid of him, for other legit reasons. There are no legit reasons to get rid of Wood right now. None. There are legit circumstances where it'd be acceptible to trade Wood for something else, or to allow him to walk after the season. But there's no excuse to take a player of Wood's potential and look for any opportunity to rid yourself of him. I think cirumstances with him (injuries) and his high salary far outweigh his potential.

  3. I like it, but I'd def. switch Barrett and Jones, at least for the time being.
  4. Speaking of Sarge is he estranged from his son? Because he is definitely hitting for the Rangers this year. I always liked G.M. Jr. I've never seen a Cub play as hard as he did for us. Sure, he didn't put up great numbers with us, but I could name two or three guys who were on the roster when he was here and after he left that were less valuable than him.
  5. I disagree because Pierre is a great bunter, and Womack is hitting very well. For now, I'd like to see Womack batting and Pierre bunting as much as possible.
  6. But there's an obvious difference between rookies like Murton and vets like Walker when it comes to being influenced/inspired/ruined/etc. by the coaches. I suppose, but I wouldn't trust my career with the advice of someone else if I could see their advice didn't help me.
  7. I'm don't like blaming coaches for "ruining" players. Walker didn't change when he came here. In fact, I think he's put up better numbers than his career average. Lee and Barrett got better too.
  8. At least Wood is pitching. If giving him an extra day keeps him from going MIA, then what choice do we have.
  9. Wow. If we lose Wood and Maddux, I guess we wont be spending any of that 19 Mill saves on FA pitchers, eh? Drama. The only non-Cub out there who has done anything noteworthy in his career is Zito.
  10. I agree with what was said earlier about humor. IMO, something isn't funny just because it makes reference to something else and you get it. The material itself needs to be funny on its own rather than rely on other material. I personally think The Simpsons has fallen off in recent years, and part of the reason why so many think it is just as great or better is because they make references and inside jokes, so people watch the show thinking that is funny enough on its own. Well, The Simpsons alway did that, but the show as a whole was just much better years ago.
  11. It's hard to fault the posters. Jones had two poor seasons in a row in Minnesota as well as starting slow this year. It was justified for people to think he was through as a productive major leaguer. It's good that he's proving people wrong (at least for the time being), but you can't really blame people for writing him off. If he had good seasons the last couple of years, then maybe giving up on him after a slow start this year would have been impatient. If you can't blame people for writing off Jones, you certainly can't blame people for writing off Prior.
  12. I have no problem putting Womack in there instead of Nevin. He's playing great for us and there is a righty on the mound.
  13. What catchers are those? McCann and Miller are the only ones with a higher OPS, and they don't have enough ABs to qualify(only 4 catchers have, Barrett leads them by about 90 points in OPS). There's no way that Barrett isn't in right now, and it's more likely that McCann and especially Miller level off than Barrett. McCann and Miller have a better OPS. Estrada has 33 RBI. Piazza is close numbers wise and has the name, which is very huge. If Ross or Bard get more ABs and come anywhere close to maintainnig their numbers, they are locks, but they are wildcards for now. I certainly don't see Bard getting the ABs with Piazza there, but with the DH, who knows.
  14. I don't see Barrett making the team unless he leads in votes because there are quite a few catchers having as good or better years than him....and that's without his suspension factored in.
  15. Every team has to have a guy. Every year better qualified outfielders are left off because of that rule.
  16. Every team has to have one rep., and the way I see it, it's either Jones, Barrett or Walker for us. I think each have an equal shot, positions taken into account. Jones has really stood up and gotten the job done.
  17. This one from 11:30 PM was what caught my eye: if it wasnt for the continental army, those citizens would have been hanged for treason. so yes, the soldier gave you that right.
