  1. Let's do it. Then we could let Zito bat 1st because they probably have about the same OBP.
  2. I know it's been bad, but let's please not wish for injury or death. Oh, certainly not wishing it, but that's about the only way that they could get out of these contracts and terrible management.
  3. The best thing to happen to this organization would be a disastrous plane crash with the entire front office, management, coaches and players on board. Not that I would be happy, but in the long term, it would be better for everyone.
  4. Wasn't Milledge "untouchable" for the Mets in 2006 when they were rumored to be in the market for Zito for a playoff push? Haha. Maybe having a decent Zito would have pushed them past the Cards in that NLCS.
  5. Castillo 2B Theriot SS Ram 3B Lee 1B Soriano LF Hoff/Fox RF Kosuke/Reed CF Soto C I like it better than the crap Bradley has been putting up, plus the money you would save. I know Castillo isn't exactly good in the field and has 0 power and declining speed, but I would think very hard about the trade.
  6. Why trade Kevin Gregg for a minor-leaguer whose ceiling is lower than Gregg's current ability? Because you will have that piece for 6-8 years instead of 3 more months of Gregg.
  7. The Mets starting pitching is terrible and the money would balance out with Z and Fuku going the other way. I still can't believe that as many GMs who coveted Kosuke can be that wrong.
  8. While it may be pretty much completely unrealistic to expect a fire sale, there is a chance that the Cubs could be more than 10 games back at the All Start Break. Any ideas on possible returns that Hendry could get for anyone from Soriano to Miles to Lilly? I'll start: Kevin Gregg for a minor league reliever with a ceiling comparable to that of Aaron Heilman or Jose Ascanio. Although possibly more if he goes to a team that will offer him arbitration on the hope that they get 2 Type A picks in return. Carlos Zambrano: Would Zambrano and Kosuke be able to bring back Carlos Beltran from the Mets? I believe Z said that he would waive his NTC to go to New York or Boston or the White Sox, but don't remember if it was a Yankees specific question.
  9. Those are pretty strong words. You don't even know the guy. He can 'have a complex' and still be a kind and caring human being. The words you used better describe Michael Vick, or the like. Where did I say he wasn't a kind human being? His family probably loves him. He's obviously not too tolerant of his teammates and, as a player, he's been a POS. F him is my opinion. I never wanted anything to do with this guy playing for MY team. He's never been a major part of a good team. He's the type of guy that says he wants the attention and to play in a major market but in reality, he'd be much more comfortable putting up a .900 OPS for a last place team with no fans or people that really care to follow him around. I think you have a far worse complex than Milton does. I think I'll be able to sleep tonight, but thanks for the personal attack, I truly appreciate your awesome point of view.

  11. The guy is a first class dbag, that is all. There's a reason no one else wanted to sign him and it isn't his ability (or lack thereof this year) to hit. He's a selfish [expletive] and has rubbed everyone the wrong way throughout his career. I don't care if he's black, white, asian, or hispanic, hes a douche. Good thing we got rid of DeRosa and didn't sign Dunn to sign this guy. F him. Wonder if he'll give Hendry any of his salary after Hendry finally gets canned for wasting money on this POS.
  12. We could replace Fontenot and Bradley with 2 random dudes from the stands and get the same production.
  13. Fox and Milton Bradley's contract for Matt Holliday! Hahaha!
  14. From the looks of Randy Wells' gameday picture, he may have been hitting the bong with Geo a few times.
  15. And no young contributors on the horizon. i'm kind of late to this party, but why do people keep lamenting long-term contracts for the Cubs? they have, what, two (Z and Soriano)? maybe Dempster, i guess. Fuku got 4 years, Lee 5, Aramis 4 (with a player opt out), 2 years (and 2 years too many) for Aaron Miles, 3 years for a decrepit Milton Bradley. While those aren't necessarily long in years, they are way too long for the production we are getting out of them with the exception of Aramis and Lee.
  16. Soriano's really not bad at all in the outfield. He's probably average to above average. I tend to agree that defense is a large reason why Hendry didn't pursue Dunn, though. Because Milton has been SO awesome this year. Hendry screwed the pooch this offseason, plain and simple. Mark DeRosa and Adam Dunn are better at baseball than Aaron Miles and Milton Bradley. He could have fit both of them in the budget, but decided to spend money on the two replacements and Kevin Gregg instead. Thanks for nothing, Jim.
  17. Fixed...and kidding. Good luck Brett. Hopefully you can make MLB quickly.
  18. That's a stupid bet. I'm sure someone said the same thing about the Diamondbacks and Marlins when they were expansion teams and being terrible. I forgot we're cursed or whatever stupid [expletive] you're basing this on How about the fact that we're under .500 in a terrible division, all of our best players are on the downside of their careers and have terrible hamstringing contracts, the team can't add payroll for the foreseeable future, the new owner will likely be more concerned with remodeling the stadium/surrounding area than adding payroll because the fans come either way, and we have a terrible GM and manager that aren't going anywhere soon. Other than that, though, we're awesome. Nationals will have a nucleus of Ryan Zimmerman, Stephen Strasburg, and Bryce Harper and we'll have Soto, Theriot, and Fontenot. Obviously we'll probably be better than them for the next 3 years or so, but I wouldn't consider the Cubs favorites for the World Series unless there are some serious changes that don't appear to be on the horizon.
  19. It's no 1908...
  20. Unless Micah and Fox get it done, it ain't gettin done.
