  1. So all of the late night eating while being stoned is the reason for the fatness. Got it!
  2. Hey give Hendry his due, we ain't getting swept in the first round this year. He's a true problem solver! I haven't decided yet if getting swept out of the first round for the third year in a row would be worse than not making the playoffs at all. I think it would be. It wouldn't be worse. This whole "we're going to be 0-5 games back for 6 months" scenario is pretty brutal. See 2004.

  4. He actually had 2 long flyballs on Tuesday as well.
  5. And it would have been a tick higher if the home plate ump didn't have dinner reservations last night.
  6. Ask the 2007 Dbacks about playing over their potential. They were like 20 games over their pythag and made the playoffs that year where they beat our asses. The Angels were 12 games over their pythag last year as well. The results are really what matters. If a guy on my team has a 2.00 WHIP and 4.0 K/9 but miraculously ends up with a 2.00 ERA and a 20-2 record, that's fine with me. Obviously the long term results probably won't be good, but who cares?
  7. That's a stupid bet. I'm sure someone said the same thing about the Diamondbacks and Marlins when they were expansion teams and being terrible. Both of those teams had owners who aggressively purchased players in order to win in the short-term, and they won in their 4th year. The Washington Nationals are in their 5th year (if you don't count the 36 in Montreal) and so far have just gotten worse each season. How were the Rays in their 5th year? And, while they didn't win it, they were in the WS last year.

  9. Winner.
  10. If Shaq wins the title, Kobe should say "Shaq can't win it without a premier outside player" :D
  11. I wonder what Jose Macias is doing http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/team.cgi?id=41150 Homeboy is raking!!! Meanwhile former Yankee/Red Ruben Rivera is putting up Pujolsian numbers-24 HR, 1.187 OPS, so I wouldnt put too much stock in those stats. Just shows you how good these major leaguers are. I mean, put any of these guys up against a bunch of minor leaguers and its just a beatdown.
  12. Sad thing is, I'd bet just about everything that I own that the Washington Nationals will win a World Series before the Chicago Cubs will.
  13. i think it's clear that it's in their heads right now and it's affecting them, so yeah Clearly. Except when they come back from big deficits and win games. Then it is not. Like when other managers and players practically give the games away, yeah, then. Ozzie put Linebrink in who is clearly terrible. We won on a broken bat Soriano hit. Cleveland is the worst team in the AL and we took advantage of quite possibly the worst bullpen on earth twice, capped off by a former Cub throwing a wild pitch after a throwing error and lucky hits by Blanco and Miles. It wasn't exactly Soriano and Bradley hitting grand slams. Outside of Lee, Bradley (with no RISP) and possibly Soto, everyone on this team has sucked for the last month.
  14. Way to squeeze sawdust out of the bat with RISP guys. It's not that hard. You can get hits with no one on, but not with RISP? Go to hell.
  15. I'm guessing it lines up this way: Soriano LF Fukudome CF Bradley RF Lee 1B Hoffpauir DH Soto C Fontenot 3B Theriot SS Blanco 2B
  16. Dear Cubbies2238, STOP GOING TO GAMES! Sincerely, All Cubs fans
  17. Steinbrenner is now sending a guy to "take care of" Dale Sveum...
  18. That's too much. Not if you factor in the 2 draft picks returned for DeRo being a Type A
  19. Miles' phone call to LaRussa after the game is going to be like a teenager talking to his parents about the pot they found in his room. Hahaha!
  20. With all of the love being shown for DeRosa and the accompanying hate for Miles, what are the opinions on a trade like this: Mark DeRosa for Sean Marshall, Aaron Miles, and 2 of the 3 guys we got from Cleveland earlier. Not that Hendry would ever allow people to think he made a mistake, but who knows.
  21. Momentum is the next day's starting pitcher. Thanks for nothing Rich.
