  1. Good call, edited to include that game. This is going to be a long list by the end of the year, but if we win more of these than we lose, we will be OK because I imagine the Cubs willl have more "easy wins" than blowout losses.
  2. The game has been on there: Sunday 4/13 vs. Philadelphia (Zambrano reaches on error in 10th) I guess I could have added the part about DeRosa...
  3. It's on track, this was covered in Rants a few weeks ago.
  4. The NL has a lower collective ERA, has given up fewer runs, and has the majority of the top-line pitchers, especially since Santana and Haren were dealt to the NL. NL will always have a lower collective ERA and give up fewer runs because the AL has the DH. I don't think having 5 or 6 great pitchers in a league has anything to do with 9 individuals having good BA or HR numbers, because most of those numbers come against guys like Jason Marquis and Randy Wolf anyway.
  5. Maybe its because the National League pitching pretty much sucks?
  6. Actually, DeRosa had already been removed on a double switch and Ward batted for Wuertz. I would have liked the 9th to go as follows, not that it mattered: Cedeno (PH for Wuertz) Ward (PH for Johnson) Fontenot (already in game due to double switch)
  7. Bump to include most recent games (except the beating given on Monday night)
  8. Looks like Blanco, Cedeno, and Pie can start warming up. Also, nice hustle by Ramirez.
  9. FYI Gagne pitching in the 7th right now.
  10. Soto will hit a slam just so he can get 3 innings off from catching.
  11. Then you can smoke pot out of said skull
  12. Is that the thing where they point at the dugout? Like they did last year? I loved that. On a side note, Molina just got tossed for arguing balls and strikes. He took off his gear on the field and left it there, while throwing his chest protector at the ump's direction. La Russa just got tossed too. What a classy organization. Did he throw the chest protector from his knees and then get a standing ovation? I see what you did there...and I like it! =D>
  13. Edmonds would have gone yard... :D
  14. Who else is happy that the whole "crappy lefthanders own the Cubs" thing is over? You're next, (t)Estes...
  15. Goes to show you how hard it is. I had just looked at the wife and said "We might have to watch every single out of this game". Z will eventually do it, however.
  16. I'm hearing he'd LOVE to come here and maybe try to stick it to the Cardinals. Hasn't he already "stuck it" to most of the Cardinals?
  17. We won't be laughing when they put up 15 in this one. Ya, this has all the makings of the "eff you game" in Madden. There is no way you should lose, but you get blown out by 30 and Peyton Manning throws 9 interceptions.
  18. Can we please quit slobbing this guys knob? Theriot and Cedeno have both proven to be adequate major league SS. Maybe not quite as good as Greene, but they are making the minimum and don't require a trade to acquire them.
  19. Here's a likely lineup: Soriano LF Johnson CF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Fukudome RF DeRosa 2B Cedeno SS Blanco C
  20. Wow. Not even booing LaTroy, but going after Edmonds right away. I enjoy the hatred.
  21. He probably tripped over his wallet. Something tells me that flying first class + loads of free drinks = Huggy Bear tripping on tarmac.
  22. Bump to include Friday Arizona game a "could have lost". Great win by the Cubs, hooray Good Lilly and a big hit by the Fons.
  23. I don't see Wood leaving Chicago, unless the Cubs no longer wants him. If Wood pitches well, I can't imagine them not wanting him back. I would think they want him back, but let's say he saves 35 out of 42 or something like that. He would be in line for 3 years and at least 21 million from someone else. Would the Cubs be willing to go that far for Kerry? Because I think after making relatively nothing the past 2 years that the "hometown discount" time is over for Mr. Wood and the Cubs. Then again, when you take out the combined 6-7 million that Eyre and Howry are making, I guess they could justify spending the money if they replaced those two with minor leaguers (Ascanio included in that mix).
  24. Obviously not. As of right now, however, the Cubs are 19-14, including 5-9 in the "coulda/shoulda" games. Assuming we finish the year at even in these games, Cubs will be in good shape.
