  1. Any suggestions on what web site is best at giving propjected starting rotations and lineups for each ML team?l
  2. This is a good trade for the Cubs. Ryu was blocked by others. Keep in mind that Wilken played an important role in drafting these two kids while he was at TB. He must have some insight on what potential they have. Ryu is a ML middle reliever at best and why not take a roll of the dice on two kids Wilken is high on? I trust Wilken's assessment
  3. I'm not sure the Indians would go for that trade, but I would love to see it. If Miller and/or Prior is healthy and Marquis/Guzman pitch decently, you would have a strong starting staff plus plenty of trade bait at mid-season. I doubt CLE bites on that deal too but it sure would shore up our rotation and likely make it one of the best in the bigs. I bet they hold on to Westbrook until closer to the trade deadline unless just overwhelmed with an offer before then.
  4. I'd still love to see us get a Westbrook/Michaels deal done with maybe Marshall, Eyre and maybe a B prospect going to CLE. Your rotation than looks like Z, Westbrook, Hill, Lilly & Marquis, Prior, Miller, Guzman fighting it out for #5. I like that rotation so much better. And lets get Westbrook an extension. Can we afford him $$$ though?
  5. I need a little advice here from you experts on this issue. I live in NW TN and am currently a DirectTV customer. I have not had any problems with them at all, by the way. I have a basic package that does not include the sports channels (Comcast CHI, Fox sports, etc). If I upgrade to get that package, will I be able to watch additiional Cubs games? Is my NW TN area subject to blackouts? Is this a market considered Cubs home market? If I can get the sports pkg for a few extra bucks instead of EI I would just as soon do that...Thanks for the input
  6. How can we go about getting on the list? Telephone the Cubs, via computer, letter?
  7. Any ideas who his coaching staff will be?
  8. DAN EVANS FOR ASST GM
  9. Murton does not have the stronger arm of the two. Sorry
  10. VANCE, WHERE CAN YOU GET ONE OF THOSE THROWBACK JERSEY'S?
  11. Got to protect Holdzkom if you ask me. Shaver, Fox, Wells also
  12. Word is that Girardi interviewed quite well and alot of the questions or conerns Hendry had, were answered to his satisfaction. My guess is Joe will be offered the job sometime next week unless Bochy is interested. If we can land Bochy with no compensation going back to SD, I'd be OK with that. Under no circumstances should a player go to SD so we can get Bochy-I'd just as soon have Girardi
  13. Any chance the Cubs go after ARod? He is still young and looks like he'll continue to produce pretty darn good numbers. Do we have any talent outside of Pie that the Yanks would take in return?

    Mark Prior

Would anyone here be willing to make Prior the key man in a deal to land ARod? Prior and another young arm or Eyre for ARod I'd do in a heartbeat. Pencil ARod in at SS and bust your tail to sign Ramirez and you have a big part of your offensive woes addressed. But then you would need to work on adding another SP to the mix. As much as I love Prior and think he will bounce back, I am at the most counting him as one of a cast of several to compete for the 4th or 5th spot in the 07 rotation. He has value still and if we are going to be bold, ARod is someone you go for. Remember, you have to give up talent to get talent in return. My guess is ARod will be more useful than Prior over the next few years.
  15. I'd love it but I bet they are going to commit to JMcD at least this first year.
  16. Are the Cubs the team who claimed AJ on waivers? We can dream can't we? Actually he is a good fit for the Cubs and we have pieces ATL would be looking for if you ask me.
  17. seth, i ain't paying those crazy prices on ebay...and i need five tickets together...thanks anyway
  18. Thanks for the suggestion, but there are still none listed for the MIL series.
  19. Sorry everyone, I guess my opinion is not popular. I'm not saying Hendry is not due any of the blame for this mess, but his options were really limited here with Jacque's situation. And Badger, you are right- three years was overboard. I would've preferred them to keep Jeromy and Patterson myself also. Anyway, you can't put all the blame on Hendry, Dusty or even the players. Collectively, yes, but Hendry is not the main problem here. He can't swing the bats and pitch the pitches. He shares in this mess but if someone has got to go, its the players who are playing sh*tty and Dusty-not Hendry.
  20. I agree with you whole-heartedly. My girls can't understand my infatuation with this woeful franchise and they keep mentioning when are we going to a game. I guess I really should take them but I'm not paying broker prices. I really shouldn't take them, you know, because once you're bit by the bug, its too late and I sure as heck would hate having them suffer like I have over the last 30 plus years. Thanks any way, but if someone has any, I sure would be interested.
  21. Anyone have 5 tickets for Brewers series in late June they are willing to sell at a fair price? Can't get five together off the Cubs website and I am not paying an enormous amount to see this team. Just want to take my daughters to their first game.
  22. In defending Hendry, the Alfonseca signing was out of necessity. There was no closer left to pursue and we needed one at the time. Did he overpay? Looking back, probably yes, but at the time, that was the going rate for those that had done the job before and again he was the only option left. Same thing with Jacque Jones. Three yrs is outrageous but we needed another bat for RF and he was basically the only guy left that fit our needs. Too bad he hasn't been a bargain (so far). Probably overpaid for the guy, but I view his acquisition as a gamble that has not paid off yet for Hendry. Lets hope he catches fire and provides meaningful production the rest of the way.
  23. I like Pierre and feel pretty sure his numbers will improve by years end. Let's take a cautious approach on an extension and see what the numbers look like later in the year. I do however feel I'd like him back if for nothing more than mentoring Pie. Juan has a tremendous work ethic and has what I consider the right pro attitude that could have a great impact on a young guy. Pierre in CF and Pie in RF next season seems real good to me. And in no way do I want Pie leading off next season. Too much pressure for a young kid and Patterson all over again is not my idea of utilizing Pie's skills. He can still steal bases batting somewhere else in the order.
  24. Boehringer and Corey can can be the 1 and 2 starters for KC
