  1. Corey Patterson irreversibly scarred the Cubs as far as young CF's are concerned.
  2. Dear lord, was anyone listening to the Score this morning?? Cooper (Sox PC) was lambasting the hosts for inferring that Colon should have to compete for a rotation spot. I mean he threw out every cliche there is. "Colon is an established starter. Colon is a veteran. If healthy Colon is better than anyone on the staff. He's a former ace." It was mind numblingly stupid. He even threw in "We're not the Cubs, we can't go out and sign anyone we want". Man I hate the Sox sometimes. On a side note, on last official recording, Colon (according to the score) was 5'11, and weighed 260 pounds.
  3. Nothing you quoted has anything to do with the recent topic of Miles only being signed because he can hit left handed. Who's "the starter" at second base is a different topic. I will say that I think Miles is a better player than some people on this board give him credit for, but he's still a super sub in my mind.
  4. I agree with you about the fear of a Ramirez injury. Nothings perfect in this world, though. Get stronger in one area, get weaker in another. /shrug Also, another poster in this thread is right, and this isn't directed at anybody, but some people on this board just complain to complain. How can one honestly think Miles was only acquired due to his ability to hit left handed? It's just ridiculous. http://blatherwatch.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/07/12/old_man_yells_at_cloud8.jpg
  5. This thread gives me a migraine. Apparently big-leagers no longer 'train' or like, 'work out' and stuff. News to me. I'm still trying to figure out if I somehow missed some sarcasm somewhere.
  6. Thats interesting. Where did you go to 'get more info on pomeroy's stuff'? I'm honestly curious to read about it. Please dont give me a link to google.com.
  7. agreed, that .273 slugging % would look great in a cubs uniform Miles career slugging- .364 Burke career slugging- .363 Plus Burke is about 4 years younger, better defensively than Miles, and much cheaper. No one cares about aaron miles or chris burke. save your energy man.
  8. hours upon hours? definitely not. i'd be surprised if he works out daily at this point. You can't be serious. What else do you think he's doing? E-mailing his cousin for 8 hours a day? you can't be serious! you really think the guy who hasn't been healthy in, what, four years now is really working out for "hours upon hours" a day? Yea, conversation over.
  9. hours upon hours? definitely not. i'd be surprised if he works out daily at this point. You can't be serious. What else do you think he's doing? E-mailing his cousin for 8 hours a day?
  10. Making fun of him for "sitting on his ass" for a million dollars sucks. Jealous much? I know you're partly being sarcastic, but come on. You don't think he's working out for hours upon hours a day? You don't think he wants to come back and pitch in the big leagues? Some of you are just drinking the haterade the moment you roll out of bed.
  11. I expect Fontenot to far surpass his PA's from last year. I look at Miles as a utility replacement, and a cost-saver over DeRosa to fit in Bradley and a potential supplemental move. I don't think acquiring Miles had anything to do with him being left handed, especially when most of his AB's will come as a spot starter, or replacing Fontenot against tough LHP. If anything I see Miles batting RH quite a bit.
  12. Anyone else feel the same way about the Cubs sale as the BCS? I can't make myself care anymore.
  13. Because that organization is under management that is slightly better than the one in Baltimore. Once again, people make comments with NO CLUE what they're talking about. They recently canned their entire management team (literally), and hired two blog writers off the net to help re-shape their mindset. They hired one guy from USS Mariner, and one guy from Lookout Landing. They're going SABR. Isn't that what most of the crowd with pitchforks want from their teams? I mean they changed their entire organizations mindset. What else do you want.
  14. Bryant Johnson or Tebow?
  15. Basic media fellating of a guy who pilots a trick offense coupled with the guy's holier than though faux-humble self important personality Do you really think it's faux-humility? Yea I don't even know if Tebow is smart enough to know what faux-humility is, let alone exhibit it.
  16. There is definitely a rant in there for girls/guys who cry after their team loses a sports game. I didn't so much cry after the '08 Dodgers episode as much as I went into a self-induced coma.
  17. Ol' JR is not happy.
  18. Basic media fellating of a guy who pilots a trick offense coupled with the guy's holier than though faux-humble self important personality Ok, I wasn't aware Florida's offense was considered a gadget offense. And I understand people might resent his attitude, but I think he just had a little different upbringing than you or I. It's just his personality, I don't think its malicious or anything. I'd rather have Tebow's sense of importance than say, Favre's or something.
  19. Can someone summarize the Tebow hate? Besides having Grossman-Koala syndrome, I don't get it.
  20. Reaching base 61% of the time is the definition of baseball insanity
  21. Lol. I believe it. I can see it happening actually. Why else trade DeRo for 3 scrub pitchers we have no use for? I think it was more than just a salary dump. Those three alone for Peavy? Really? Those three plus something. Otherwise you're inferring that Peavy is equal to DeRosa's value.
  22. really? Don't hate. DeRo was the man.
  23. Why? .362 OBP in ~1300 AB's, and he's 29 years old (peak production). Give me a reason besides just saying it won't happen.
