He's like a lesser Ted Lilly. That's not a bad thing.

Put a decent defense behind him, and I think he's easily above league average. For Wells more than any other Cub, the decent defense is key. Yup, exactly. And I think that's why I like him. The guy challenges hitters (throws a ton of strikes), and has just good enough stuff to do it. Reminds me of Lilly in that way.

Sadly, very few people use two hands to catch a ball anymore. That's one thing my son will learn when he's old enough, though. You'd just think with how his year has gone so far, he'd make every effort to avoid botching routine plays. But yea, I know better now.
