  1. It also gives a link to Manny wanting to go to the White Sox. I don't see the Red Sox ever giving him to another AL team. He's more than welcome in the other team in Chicago though.
  2. 1 hour 50 minutes till game time.
  3. Don't underestimate Mizzou's ability to lose a must-win game against a less than mediocre opponent. OSU might be worse than Baylor this year. IMB anyone new word on Peterson for the game tomorrow?
  4. That website is awesome by the way. I forgot the cannon Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink possesses
  5. wow that was a better view, and nice touch with the music to show the beauty of that goal. Now im not so sure anymore.
  6. im not even sure that his best goal, its close to that and the one vs argentina in '98.
  7. you like that Bergkamp goal. Still one of the most creative players around.
  8. I wasn't really referring to the BCS poll. In the AP and Coaches VT is getting closer to Texas each week in amount of votes received. If they both keep winning, VT is eventually going to surpass Texas, especially if they beat Miami. Those polls allow the human thought of schedule strength, quality victories, etc to play a role. As a result it may affect the BCS poll, but not as much as it should. Unfortunately the BCS polls don't use rationality to determine things. If so Auburn would have been in the NC last year, which they deserved. The BCS will be a mess again this year, I think. EDIT: I hope the BCS will be a mess this year. I worse it gets the more likely it is a more suitable solution will come about. I'll be pissed if Texas is this years Auburn. That will be taken care of 3 games from now. Tech is a very scary team, and one of the most underrated teams in the nation the past 3 years. Texas gets very little respect in beating Tech every year, yet its always more difficult than beating someone like A&M. I'm glad this years game is in Austin. If Texas can hold you to less than 30, I think UT will win pretty easily.

  11. Its unusual not seeing OU in there heading up to the game this week.
  12. Shane, if you go to any Central league games (Coastal Bend) the Central league is in trouble. I'll be suprised if the Costal Bend team makes it beyond next season given the success of the AA team in Corpus
  13. I want Nomar at 2nd base even if there is 1% chance of this happening. I'm not giving up on him just yet, and even not at 100% he is still better than most every other option. As far as I am concerned right now we only have 1 OF next season in Matt Murton, and this is not a bad thing. The infield is almost 100% set with exception of SS and we already have some options (Cedeno). The OF should be customized to fill the needs not aquired by the infield.
  14. Sweet, if you ever need anything down in South Texas don't hesitate to ask. There is also a pretty solid base down here steming from Corpus Christi Moody HS.
  15. yeah, this isnt too much fun. not to mention not having internet access for the past week. This looks like its going to be a big one.
  16. That dude put up some of the most ridiculous rushing lines in HS I'd ever seen. Consistently above 200 and 250 yards. Ohio State made some questionable decisions in the 4th quarter, although I am not complaining. Their LB core is by far the best in the nation, and is the sole reason VY did not put up over 400 total yards on them. The made some great adjustment during the game. Texas did not play great, but played good enough to win. Despite all the talk about VY, two things occured this game that could propel them back to Pasadena. First their Defense is just as good as last years even having to replace Derrick Johnson. 9 point off 3 turnovers allowed was the sole reason Texas won. Second, Cedric Benson has officially been replaced. Jamall Charles has a chance to be the next very special Texas running back. The fact that Mack Brown sees this and is not afraid to play the true freshman in the biggest game of the season in only his 2nd ever game is great. He has to get more carries before the OU game. Also don't forget about Big Henry Melton, this freshman is an absolute beast. Combined with the best OL in college football the running game is going to be huge on the avg. wide recievers.
  17. Its going to be very difficult for me to repeat last weeks performance. Even with the extra starts my pitchers were brilliant, putting up their best week (7 out of 8 starts for QS's). The bright side, NSBB is going to have to go 3-0 against me for the season to make it to the finals, and we all know that can be a dificult challenge. Also his 2 victories against me we for a combined 29 points, so the matches have been close. Tim definatly has the edge, but I think I have an outside shot to pullout a major upset. I need someone to step up in the clubhouse and be the hero this week, and as we all know team chemistry is the key so and I am looking for Ryan Howard to be that guy this week. He is too young to know the magnitude of this week, so the pressure should not get to him.
  18. I have had injury problems all season. I am down to 8 starts now with Armas going down tomorrow. I am droping Armas as he is hurt now, and will be replacing him with Eaton. Elarton pitched a nice game today in Cleveland's 2-0 win. I am expecting a couple of Rangers to carry me to victory.
  19. I was thinking the same thing, but I would rather have Giles than Huff. I know Huff is younger, but Giles OBP is hard to pass up. Now if we can go a few million over $100... Ignore Zito, bring in Huff. Starting OF at Huff, Murton, Giles. I say this every time I talk about Huff, but he is on the verge on exploding and getting out of Tampa to Chicago will do the trick. This saves 2.5 million. This part is a stretch. Convince Nomar to make the switch to 2nd base, pick up Walker's contract and trade him or just let him walk. I really believe he is going to consider a position change this offseason, and I do believe he wants to stay a Cub. He opened up to taking over 3rd base pretty fast. The 2.5 million saved in not taking Zito goes to Nomar with $5 million + incentives. Walker makes 2.5 million so this balances out. Scary good Lineup: Furcal Nomar Lee Aram Giles Huff Barrett Murton Hill, Pinto, and even Guzman battle out for the #5 spot. One of these will probably be gone for Huff.
  20. Do the division winners get a buy week, and the 2nd and 3rd place play?
  21. By far my first playoff appearance. Last two years ago (Beating Delroy in my first week then losing something like 9 straight), and 3rd worst last season. This years team is streaky, either great one week or terrible the next. I am happy just to be here. You destroyed me our first meeting this season beating me by 80, but I took the 2nd one with a 300+ point week. What does the playoff format look like. Never had to pay much attention in the past.
  22. We can go ahead and try that out this season, call it the "Blanco Experiment". I think we all know how this will turn out. While were at it, we might as well implement the "Upton Movement". The official tank job in hopes Justin does in fact go to juco to reenter the draft next season.
  23. Hard to imagine him staying in Florida. I see Boston as the team he goes to in the offseason, the Yankees will want him but things will be changing in the AL East.
  24. You don't think Maddux has taught Kerry, Prior and Z a thing or two?? Also, I don't notice any teams beating down the Cubs door for Mitre. and you are privy to the private discussions between hendry and other gms...so, if anybody would know, it's you. as i've mentioned in other threads, it's ridiculous how baker continues to defend his guys (neifi, holla, rusch), while doing nothing for the young guys (murton, hill, mitre) except keep them on the bench or demote them. nearly every team in contention is getting contributions from young players/rookies/guys w/ little experience... cardinals: molina, reyes a's: swisher, johnson, street, haren angels: kotchman, santana braves: frenchy, johnson, langerhans, davies, mccann, betemit astros: lane, burke, taveras the yankees have cano, the phils have howard and even the red sox have given papelbon starts. all of those teams have done more w/ regard to giving youngsters a chance than the cubs...and they are all 'in the race' a heck of a lot more than the cubs are. who is going to have accomplished more this season, the cubs or the pirates? it's likely that both teams will be out of the postseason. except the pirates have given experience to duffy, duke, doumit, eldred, snell and now mcclouth. what will the cubs have to show for their likely non-playoff season? experience for rusch, macias, hollandsworth, neifi? bench time and minor league ab's/innings for hill, cedeno, murton, mitre, welly? whoop de doo...that really helps get ready for 2006. i'm personally not a fan of mitre, but i'd at least like to see my doubts for him confirmed at the major league level. all these people who say that not all these prospects will pan out are absolutely right...but how are the cubs going to know which ones will and which ones won't? Pretty much all of those teams except for the Astros have had sustained success in incorporating rookies or young guys into the everyday lineup/rotation. Even if it is just 1 year success, these teams display confidence in young guys, and put them not only in a position to succeed but to learn as well. My point is there is a reason why these teams do it year after year, and the Cubs can't.
  25. No Damon on this list, even if its for 2-3 years? or did he sign in the past couple of weeks and I never saw it.
