  1. Don't forget Nebraska at USC (5:30 pm PST) FIGHT ON!!! if both Texas and Nebraska won that would be a huge lift for the Big 12 in a down year. Although I think we might see John David Booty explode for a huge weekend.
  2. I'm with you on the "ND hype machine." I'm getting sick of it. The crazy part about it, to me, is that I think Charley Weis is going to make them a power. His recruiting is off the charts, he's an excellent game-planner, and a good game coach. Its just absurd that they are putting the cart way before the horse. How about we wait until he makes them great, THEN the national media can fawn all over them. Stop antagonizing them, it will just make it worse around here  Ok now what is up with Lee Corso saying SC wont win a SEC title under Spurrier? This is absurd to be so sure that it wont happen. Florida wasnt the powerhouse they were until he got there and installed that offense. He can coach, recruit and stay out of trouble. Hell even Lou Holtz had a really good season and Spurrier is twice the coach he is. Speaking of Lou Holtz he is a complete ass on television. He constantly belittles Mark May and dribbles all over himself when he talks. Mark May needs to pile drive that POS into the newsdesk. Trev Alberts was in self love with himself but he at least made me laugh. I absolutly hated Alberts, but loved watching Nebraska suck it up his last year their.
  3. Will be interesting to see how he basically handles the jump from UNC to the big leagues, even if he's hidden a bit in the pen. I think it's a stupid addition to the contract. Doesn't it start his arbi clock? Maybe that's why the player/agent wanted that clause included. We know why he wanted it, it's stupid on Detroit's end. I am pretty sure Detroit knew what they were getting into before they drafted him. Besides its hard to argue with anything they have done this season.
  4. I really don't like Texas much but when Major Applewhite was there, I liked them a lot. Then I hated them when they played Chris Simms, and liked them for the last game and a half when they put Applewhite into the Big XII title game and then started him in the Holiday Bowl. Major was great, one of my favorite players ever at Texas. Pretty soon he will be the youngest head coach in D1. Just a matter of when and where.
  5. Hopefully http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/image_lib/mccoy_colt_082806_300.jpg can = http://www.majorapplewhite11.com/Major9WIN.jpg We don't need him to be Vince.
  6. either sep 12, or 19th.
  7. That was an amazing catch. Dallas' offense looked very good and when Bledsoe was the QB. I wasn't able to watch the second half (went out to dinner) so I'm not saying Romo didn't look good. But Bledsoe was on last night. Romo looked good from what I saw too with the exception of a fumble he had. Bledsoe is starter, but its Romo's come next season.
  8. It's Tony that doesn't get FSC. I have FSC and GolTV (gotta watch my first love - Roma!) through Dish Network. If Roma doesn't win Serie A this year I'll be stunned. You think so? I'm not so sure. Inter signed everyone under the sun, so they worry me. I know they always find a way to screw it up, but still..... And Milan's starting with what, a 7 point deficit? Did they appeal that or something? I thought it was like a 15 or 18 point penalty. Juve got a 25 point penalty. Is it even mathematically possible for them to get out of Serie B this season? Here is a list of the penalties as they stand right now. http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/jul25o.html Wow, those fines were pretty pointless compared to the other penalties. Mark Cuban gets fined more on a bimonthly basis just for something he says. Juventus should be penalized in a way to where its very very difficult to make it back to the Serie A for the next 3 years. I would have liked to seen something around blocking transfers with all the clubs involved as well. Not sure if they could have even done that or not though.
  9. Texas is returning 16 starters this year and, while they do lose Vince Young, they do have a very good team this year. With Bomar getting kicked out of Oklahoma there isn't much competition in the Big 12 for Texas this year. Their only real tough game is against Ohio State and that will be at home. If they win that game, they very easily could run the table and find themselves in the BCS Title game. Even if they do lose to Ohio State, they should still finish with just 1 loss and win the Big 12 again. The Texas defense and running game and recievers will all be better this year. If Vince Young was back, they would be a unanimous #1 team in the nation and one of the biggest preseason favorites ever. Vince Young was one of the greatest "winners" in college sports history, and you don't just replace that very easily. I think you are going to see a lot of similarites betwen Colt McCoy and Major Applewhite, the only thing is he has a true freshman who could very easily be starting over him. I think it is very possible that QB is not much of a question for Texas. Should that be the case, their is no reason Texas will not be defending its National Championship.
  10. Man U did an increadible job in the 90's with their youth system. They pretty much developed almost their entire team that won the Treble.
  11. i am viciously angry that they didn't allow him to transfer. Despite the fact that i and you and a few other people think he's fantastic, his presence in the league doesn't put that many more butts in the seats. $1.5 mil and the experience of another year and a half in the EPL is worth way more to US Soccer. They better believe they can get more for a transfer for him otherwise they simply have no excuse for this. Dempsey should be very pissed. MLS needs the National Team much more than the National Team needs the MLS.
  12. With the cash Toronto is spending, and a decent team they are building I won't be suprised to see them resign him at some point. They will try very hard to keep, and won't dump him till the deadline next season at that IMO unless you blow them away with an offer.
  13. can we say coaching at all? i really think its mental, his demeanor is just different.
  14. IIRC, USC's defense in 05 was young and had lost a lot of starters. Doesn't ND's 06 defense return a majority of it's starters from 05? And I would be worried about what Texas loses at QB considering they tailored that offense for Vince Young. Yep, that's why I said, I'm worried about what UT lost on defense. And yes ND returns a lot of defense, but that's not a good thing, considering there's not much talent there. Texas had so much depth last year that they should be ok. They changed out players more than just about anyone last year, and got some of their true freshman in the mix as well. That and with maybe the best defensive coordinator in the nation.
  15. Thats still a very good showing, hell just cashing at all is good now.
  16. Well if they made the playoffs, they would probably be the favorites to not only go to the WS but to win it all.
  17. thats not bad from what I have read on the current chip counts. Its hard to really fathom though based on the size of the event. Probably still just really trying to play in position for a while. He is just a couple of hands away from being in real good shape :)
  18. Can't say I really agree with this. What bad contracts are they really bogged down by?
  19. Poor Clemens and his close to $1,000,000 per start salary
  20. The Cubs are good at evaluating talent, they are just terrible at developing it :D
  21. The Indians are sellers, the same way the Cubs are. They are more than capable of contending next season, and should look at the trading deadline as a chance to load up for next year. Now if Hendry can trade Aram for Arod, then parts for Miggy Cabrera, then sign Schmidt we will be in pretty good shape :-)
  22. Of all the players of his generation, he will be the most difficult for the USMNT to replace. IMO he was far more important than Reyna, and what's worse is that while we have some midfield talent to replace Reyna, we don't have anyone ready to replace McB. Its really going to be good thing a new coach will probably bring in a new attacking style. Hopefully we will know who that is going to be pretty soon. Klinsmann. it's a matter of time. thats what I am assuming and hoping. he should bring what I am hoping for in an offensive system. We just need to find the American version of Steven Gerrard to balance out what we currently have going on.

  24. I was not the biggest Reynolds fan, but I thought he was very good at what he did.
  25. From looking at the splits, I bet they would want Walker to play against certain right handers and to be the first guy off the bench otherwise. I know that the CBS Sportsline rumor about the Tigers had Walker going there just to become a bench player, so that might be true of the Rangers as well. I can't see them trading Kinsler for that pair, but contending teams sometimes do strange things, I guess. I doubt it. I would be more than happy to get Thomas Diamond for Walker though.
