  1. And Florida covered too. I wonder how much money Redflash lost today.
  2. He'd be an idiot to take one. He's rich, he's retiring...hit the golf course everyday and leave the MLB grind behind. I think he will do it in maybe 5 years, unless he goes all Charles Barkley his first year retired in Vegas,
  3. Florida 38 Bama 17 USC 49 UCLA 10 OU 38 Mizzou 39 ;-)
  4. How much would this have changed things last season? http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=599208&sec=england&cc=5901
  5. I can't imagine someone holding all the records Rickey Henderson has could miss the first ballot. That said, I'm sure there will be writers who don't vote for him because he played in the steroid era/if Babe Ruth wasn't unanimous no one should be/he talked in the third person. I doubt more than 25% of the writers will use that reasoning though. He played for a quarter of a century, and his prime was not in the steroid era. Not to mention his numbers began to decline when this began to pop up more. I don't think this is even a thought for anyone with a vote. Do we even really know for sure when the steroid era was? No but I base it on when the stats began to really be impacted. Even if steroids were used in the late 80's I don't think we saw the same impact we had in the mid-late 90's.
  6. That was posted on here a page or two back, except instead of Marquis having to be traded it was the sale of the Cubs needing to be taken care of as the hold up Yeah I think it's the combo of both. They need the potential new owners to accept his deal long term, but they probably also need to trade Marquis to fit him in the budget for 09. So basically if Marquis gets traded during the winter meetings this board is going to go on overload waiting for the Peavy trade to follow now.
  7. I would rather see this than OSU. Already played OSU twice the last three seasons. I honestly can't remember the last time Texas payed Alabama, plus its a much better matchup. Two teams that were on the brink of the title game playing almost what would be a consolation match. Plus the top two Big 12 teams vs. the top two SEC teams would be cool. Texas and Alabama have met 8 times. Texas is 7-0-1. The last meeting was the 1982 Cotton Bowl. #6 Texas beat #3 Alabama 14-12. Bear Bryant went 1-7-1 against the 'Horns. That win was with aTm. Yep, I don't remember the 82 Cotton Bowl ;-).

  9. I thought Texas was going to blow playing as bad as the did the first 15 minutes of the second half. Collison was real good, Abrams was just a little better.
  10. Good first half for Texas so far.
  11. that was definitely cheap and he deserved the ejection... kind of looked like a flop to me though... in other news... Blake Griffin's mother scares me heh, if a 230 pound man hits you in the balls, you're going down If a 20 pound kid hits me in the balls I am going down.
  12. Buffalo leading UConn 45-42

  15. We have zero chance to compete with anything the Rangers have for Grienke. They don't need to trade him but I think they would if they get blown away with an offer. That's something the Cubs can't do unless blackmail is involved.
  16. Since when has there ever been any patience on this board?
  17. i'm basing my opinion on watching Ball State this year and knowing that they aren't out-recruiting Notre Dame, Purdue, or even Indiana in-state. Again, I think you're underrating Ball State, and overrating the Big 10 this year. I think Ball State could give everyone but Penn State/Ohio State a game this year. and I don't. Ball State's best players would be Big Ten teams medium level players. 7 or 8 of the Big Ten teams would win the MAC this year (if not more) Win the MAC or go undefeated in the MAC like Ball State is going to do? well if they're going to win the mac this year, that means they'd go undefeated Winning is one thing. Going undefeated in the Mac is another. Seriously we are talking about the MAC. A conference that has 1 team receiving any votes what so ever and conference where 9 of its 12 teams are at or below .500.
  18. No mention of "SlumpBuster" on his plaque :-(.
  19. I'd say USC? PAC-10 sucks this year USC was 5th of the 8. They played a good non-con schedule (Virginia, Ohio State, ND) to make up for some of the deficiency in the conference. Plus, UCLA hasn't factored into their schedule yet. I'm going to say Alabama. Correct. Alabama checks in at the 73rd toughest schedule in the country as of right now, due to an overall lousy non-con schedule (although Clemson was supposed to be good, so tough to fault them for that), and a comparatively weak SEC West (where Ole Miss was clearly the second-best team, and LSU, Auburn, Arkansas and Miss State were all either 3-5 or 2-6 in conference). Their best win on the year, by far, was their 41-30 win at Georgia, but that was a long time ago, too. Of course, the SEC championship game this week will certainly vault them over Utah. Just thought it was interesting to see it at this point, though. I've been saying this for some time now. Bama has had one of the weakest SEC schedules in a long time for someone who has been undefeated at this point in the season.
  20. Not to mention there are kickers in the league bigger than Welker.
  21. I think everyone should guess how many points Florida is going to win by. I am going to go with 20.
