Phil's mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer too. Talk about a rough couple of months.
  2. I thought so too, but I bet that was a Nike thing and not Federer's idea.
  3. I really respected him until I saw him standing there in that lobby before the match started in that ridiculous outfit. it's not that i don't respect him, it's just that i hate him. but i guess when you're that good at something you can wear whatever you want. he pulled it out this time, but he would have gotten smoked by nadal at 100% yesterday. I really disagree with this, Nadal is not that much better than him if any to say he would have been smoked. I think you are underestimating just how great Roddick played yesterday.
  4. I would rather give Carlos the extra days of rest. Wells should not miss a start, and I doubt they would sit Dempster to pitch Z on short rest.
  5. They've busted others for clerical mistakes. The NFL busted the Bears on a clerical mistake. It's a simple procedure that everybody gets right most of the time. Why did these idiots send this in normal mail? Is that where they are cutting costs? Exactly. This is like Angelo's missed checkbox error all over again. I'm thinking the Hawks could be in trouble here. It's unbelievable that they wouldn't be sending things like this with some sort of certification and guaranteed delivery timeline. Someone is getting fired here regardless.
  6. Probably because hes one of the best defensive first baseman in baseball and never logged an inning in the outfield in his 12 year career, but who knows. The fact is, both Aramis Ramirez(at least for a few weeks) and Milton Bradley are both guys who could use about 1 day off a week, so getting Fox PT should be easy. Seriously, why weaken 2 positions instead of just 1 defensivly. I think 1st base defense is more important than one of the corner OF.
  7. It was already completed. Karl Malden completed the second. Maybe this is the start of a third. Can't help but think that Patrick Swazye is getting close to this list.
  8. It is refreshing to see a US player have this many rumors attached to his name. I am really not sure which team would be the best fit for him, but I love seeing him potentially tied to Ajax. I watched about half of the Mexico game and :rotfl: . They seriously look like they could finish 4th in Concacaf.
  9. wow, Sampras, Laver, Borg, and Federer all together afterwards. That was cool to see.
  10. I think so. I think he will be a real force in NY.
  11. That sucks. But maybe the greatest final ever.
  12. Just in effort to conserve energy screw them. First to 20 wins?
  13. No doubt. They would be served better by exploiting the window between the end of the NBA/NHL season and the beginning of the NFL season. Heck I got so bored today I actually watched part of a CFL game. I would hate to be on that Vegas team playing in the summer.
  14. Roddick with a huge point to get the break. Federer is 30-4 in tiebreakers in the career at Wimbledon :o
  15. I noticed Gavin Rossdale in the Federer camp today.
  16. Horrible tiebreak choke by Roddick, losing 4 straight set points as Federer wins 6 straight points to win the 2nd 8-6. Hopefully it doesn't get into his head as he has been serving lights out.
  17. 1) Roddick is going to have to serve really well. He's got to hit the first one hard and accurate, get in a high percentage and get a lot of aces. 2) This goes along with No. 1 but Roddick has to end points quickly. If he starts getting into longer rallies repeatedly, Federer is going to eat him alive. 3) Roddick has to get lucky. If Federer plays his best, it won't matter what Roddick does because Federer will win. Nadal's the only guy who can compete with Federer at his best. Roddick has to play his best, because if he doesn't he has no chance, and hope Federer is a bit off. I know Roddick is playing well, but Federer seems like he's on a mission. He's crushing players right now and isn't even leaving himself open to be broken on his serve. I'd probably give Roddick about a 10% chance to win and it's going to have to come in five sets. If the match goes three sets, Federer wins. If it goes four, Roddick has a very slight chance but if it goes five, who knows. I won't be waking up at 6 a.m. to watch it live so the DVR better not screw up the recording. So far Andy is hitting 77% of his 1st serves and winning 84% of those. Even if Andy can't break, testing his luck with tie-breakers is not a bad idea.
  18. Tomorrow's match is going to be emotional. If Roddick wins he is going to cry like a little baby (which will be great), if Federer win's he breaks the record (maybe in front of Sampras) at his mecca. I'm pulling for Roddick, but I just hope the match goes 5 sets. I'm a little drunk right now, but am looking forward to 8am to watch the match.
  19. this is a great question. i've always thought he would be a contributor for the senior team, and i still think he will because he's still 22 but i thought his progress would be great by now. he did well in the u-20 world cup a few years ago, but hasn't been given much of a chance for the nats. I was wondering this exact same thing watching the match. So much so, it took me 20 minutes to think of his name. I really liked Rodgers, the back line made me uncomfortable. They were not bad, but they were playing Grenada and just look unorganized at times. It seemed like this team was much more willing to shoot from 20+ out.
  20. I don't think it would be for the u-17 team. Adu looks to have added a little bit of mass to him, I like it. Beckerman has longer dreds than anyone on the Grenda squad.
  21. In college and maybe even before that McNair became a mentor and father figure for Vince Young. Heard a lot about their relationship while Vince was at Texas. Seemed like just a great and genuine person.
  22. It would be cool to be at this game watching the US on the 4th of July.
  23. Upgrade over Havlet and the Redwings will not be getting an upgrade over Hossa. I love the move.
  24. In before season shuts down.
