  1. RIP
  2. The ref is officially under review. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/5304289/ce/us/fifa-ax-us-slovenia-ref-wc?cc=5901&ver=us
  3. Holland might put up 5 on Cameroon.
  4. Watching Denmark and Cameroon makes me feel pretty good about our backline. They look like the two most unorganized teams at the Cup.
  5. The only thing they will add is goal line technology.
  6. Yesterday for the most part was an anomaly, and it just so happened to be against the US. For the most part referees do a real good job. I don't think they hold the grudges that baseball umps do and will be replaced pretty quickly after a game like that. You will find more beauty at the club level. Soccer is very much like a jigsaw puzzle, trying to find the right pieces to fit together. They play a different style at the international level vs. the club level. They are also learning to work together for a couple of weeks out of the year vs 11 months at the Club level.
  7. Sneijder kicked the piss out of his goal today. Keeper should have done better but it was still a blast. Holland still aren't playing up to potential, but at least they are no England.
  8. I agree. He looks calmer on the ball than we've ever seen him. The pass he made to play Findley in behind the Slovenian defense early was fantastic. He hasn't made any clumsy challenges yet and is card free. Lalas was talking about how much he has matured over the past year, it does appear to be showing. I wouldn't mind a trip back to Holland to PSV or Ajax.
  9. 1st thing I said. If he doesn't correct and the US don't advance we won't be talking about him anymore. Hell Capello could be his replacement. Historically Bradley's teams play well when they have too.
  10. http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/ad298/Shane_Goodhew/England.png
  11. He draws so many fouls and I think that gets overlooked at times. What I remember is the chance on the break he had vs. England and the turn around shot today. Both great chances that he could have done just a little bit more with. Like mentioned he is 21 and we are expecting a lot from him.
  12. If I had 1 complaint about Bob Bradley its that his teams continue to give up a goal in the 1st 15 minutes. Its a focus over every team from the HS level on up. On the positive the US had a ton of chances today against a team that usually clamps down very well in the back. Howard looks to be 100%. Today was maybe the worst officiated game since the Holland/Portugal game in '06. Even that didn't have the missed calls this one had. It was Jim Joyce all over again except it cost a team a win. Jozy has played ok, but not up to the level that he expects. He does continue to draw fouls at a very productive rate, and creates a lot of matchup problems though. Onyewu looks to be a step slow at times. Bradley's celebration was one of the greatest I can remember for the US in sometime. Wednesday should be fun, both teams have to win which I think plays into the US hands, but again the 1st 15 minutes. England has to find a way to score and Slovenia will be playing with 10 to 11 men behind the ball.
  13. He should be in a plane on his way out of South Africa by now. Of course I don't expect Blatter to a single thing.
  14. Serbia is doing exactly what we wanted to do.
  15. An early goal for the US would do wonders. It would force a offensively-challenged side to open themselves up and we can pick them apart. 1-0 from US after about 15 minutes could turn into 3-0 in the end. Lalas was calling for Clark to start over Torres. 100% agreed on the early lead which is why I want Torres, find ways to get possession in and around the box early and good things will happen. Set pieces or maybe even a PK. I understand the thought of Clark starting though. And Buddle over Findley too.
  16. I'm convinced Dos Santos enjoys looking like a chick.
  17. The keeper on one of my teams broke a couple of fingers about 3 weeks ago, and I broke someones wrist 2 weeks ago. The good ones know how to avoid this but it happens.
  18. He got deeked pretty good. Blame that more on the back line than I do the keeper.
  19. He's been playing great without finding the net so far.
  20. Thought this could be a game Argentina could drop points in. Not looking like it so far despite the stupid goal they gave up in extra time.
  21. What's that? Value to a conference? I said that Texas brings more money to a conference than OU does, but OU has a far better football program than Texas does. OU had a far better tradition than Texas does, but I would hardly argue that point now and has zero relevance to this current situation.
  22. Maradona still good for something.
  23. I think saying that the teams are "household names" is overstating it. Judging by relatives and co-workers, I'm a pretty sports obsessed person, and I can only probably name a couple of soccer teams. Hell, I could probably name more MLS teams than I could EPL or SPL. Becoming household names. The popularity of those leagues over here has grown tremendously over the past 3 years.
  24. It must be nice to be a country with Torres and Cesc on the bench. Spain are f'in loaded.
  25. This is it right here. We are not a very gracious country when it comes to losing. The further exposure of the EPL and SPL are helping a lot. Club teams are becoming a household name now, and the Champions League gets solid ratings.
