  1. Goal of the tourney.
  2. If it ever gets introduced, it'll be in the Champion's League, imho. I won't be surprised to see that either, and I have far more faith in Platini than I do Blatter.
  3. Yeah, you'd think so. What would you bet they'll do: Replay or some form of goal line officials? Goal line officials, only because it would save them some face (since England and their gutter press are likely to be the loudest voices) while being consistent with Sepp's insistence that video technology isn't fair because it can't be used at all levels. Having 2 extra officials is easier on the poorer/smaller leagues and such. To me this is a perfect example of how horrible Blatter is. Who cares if its not used at all levels, this is the f'in World Cup. While I think things have gone great in terms of coverage in the US, all in all I have been underwhelmed by this one. '02 and '06 were far better.
  4. Marquez just smashed into his own club teammate. That guy has some issues. What are the odds right now he gets a red at some point today? 80 percent? He's already shown he doesn't care that he's Messi's teammate so I have to think another yellow is coming, probably not until the second half though. If Aguirre has any sense about him he'll pull him before it happens, because if Argentina score again-and they will-he's going to lose his mind and just assault someone. Except I think Aguirre will actually enjoy that.
  5. That is an unreal record.
  6. I want to see Messi bitch slap Dos Santos.
  7. I love these jerseys Germany has.
  8. This game is a perfect example of how stupid vuvuzela's are.
  9. f If thats the case then he needs a full transfer to Everton to take care of this child.
  10. I wonder why.. We had a bunch of movements like that over the last two games. We couldn't finish any of them. If we finished half of our great chances the last two games we score at least 6. I think thats what I have been most frustrated with the past two games. If England lose today the tabloids are going to be glorious. I can't wait until Blatter is gone from Fifa.
  11. I was thinking about it yesterday and we have a chance, however unlikely it may be, to get revenge on four teams in the knockout round. Ghana in the Round of 16 for beating us in the 2006 Cup. South Korea in the Quarters for making fun of Apolo Anton Ohno with the short track celebration in the 2002 Cup (it's the best I could come up with). Brazil in the semis for beating us twice in the Confederations Cup. Germany in the final for knocking us out of the 2002 Cup. They have had chances, but that effort was pathetic. You have a 7 v 4 advantage defending your own goal and you let a weak cross hit an unmarked man at the back post.
  12. Time to chear for South Korea.
  13. He was in Holland for the friendly and said he still wants to regardless of whether or not he'll ever get to play in a World Cup. Although with this injury, it's a real possibility he isn't as good as Edu, Clark, Torres or Feilhaber anymore. I'd bet we'll see him in next year's Gold Cup, unless his leg just never heals. That will be for a spot in the Confed Cup right?
  14. Considering we've gotten exactly nothing useful from the supporting striker spot, I would say a lot. I think Davies would stretch the backline (something Findley does in theory), but would actually do something useful when given an opportunity. Findley has been fed some really great passes, but hasn't done anything with them, because tactically, his mind isn't fast enough for this level and his decision making is subpar. His speed then becomes less and less useful as the game goes on, because teams figure out he can't hurt you too badly. He's too tentative. Davies has the mental tenacity, decision making ability, arrogance and pace you want in a support striker. If you want to play the hypothetical game, though, imagine Giuseppe Rossi, Neven Subotic and Jermaine Jones all on this roster. We'd have a shot to win the whole thing. Hell, even with just Jones and Davies I'd rate us as able. Davies seemed to have an instant connection with Donovan and of course Jozy. I wonder what Rossi is thinking right now?
  15. I'll like him more if he is in London next season.
  16. I'm on the Purke bandwagon now. He and Zambrano would be instant BFF's
  17. In a nutshell a team can agree to sell a player to another team. However the player has to come to terms with the new team as well. Basically there are no tampering laws in place. However the team he is with can put up such a high fee that the transfer will never take place. Teams will also loan out players, usually young players to teams in other leagues or a lower division. This is designed to get the player playing time while controlling the rights to player.
  18. In terms of gaining fans yes, but no in history. Paul Caligiuri's shot in '89 could be included as it helped to gain the '94 Cup.
  19. Holy [expletive] Davis is in there. And that really makes me wish I had gone to a bar yesterday. That was phenomenal.
  20. Jozy had a 134 voicemails after yesterdays game. Ratings are supposed to be out later todays, are they able to include how many watched on Espn3 as well?
  21. Does Isner have to play today again? That would be cruel yet funny.
  22. Having Italy get so close was glorious. Down 1-0 and Slovakia clears the ball off the line. Down 2-1 and your player is inches offside. So close yet they just couldn't get the tying goal. This has been a great 24 hours of sports. http://images.corriereobjects.it/Media/Foto/2010/06/24/quaglia_big.jpg
  23. I don't have faith in any of my teams in PK's. The most important person we have is Howard though.
  24. Just watched the goal again, the ref was laughing as he was picking up the corner flag to put it back after the dogpile.
  25. Wow, TCU grandslam in the bottom of the 8th to take the lead. He crushed that too.
