  1. Chile looking dangerous so far. Good pace to this game to start out.
  2. It will open up some in the 2nd series of games. Right now a lot of teams are content drawing, but there has been plenty of chances to score. A lot of the players don't seem to be very in sync with their teams right now.
  3. Too bad Drogba is not starting.
  4. Is that more or less than they paid for Derrick Rose?
  5. Do you have any ideas for who to add?
  6. I was in the belief that A&M would be better off going to the SEC. I would like for them to try to bring in TCU and 1 other team. Could always make a play for Arkansas some year down the road.
  7. Hate that guy. This is why FIFA needs to dole out yellow cards after matches for blatant dives (as well as taking yellow cards away for dives that weren't). The NBA will rescind technicals and change flagrant foul calls after the fact so I don't see what would be so wrong about doing a similar thing in soccer. Yellow cards are much more common than techs or flagrants, and playing with a yellow changes your play and therefore the course of a game much more than having a technical(which the vast majority of the time just forces you to stop arguing with the official). And just like the NBA yellow cards can accumulate and cause a suspension later. Giving him a yellow after the game could prevent him from diving in the follow game to avoid suspension. Its an issue they will have to tackle at some point, handing out yellows after the game is an easy way to make a point of this.
  8. I don't think a tie is bad for Slovenia because it still forces us to beat Algeria in the last match. We should, but it's far from a lock. For Slovenia, a loss would obviously be devastating because then they would likely have to beat England to advance as a tie vs. Algeria would get us through under that scenario. -- Sun Jun 13, 2010 5:42 pm -- Something to watch out for, Klose scored his 11th career Cup goal so with good form and a good run from Germany, he's got a shot at tying Ronaldo's record of 15. No one better than him in the air.
  9. i kind of like the vuvuzela. pretty unique to soccer. i mean, if im only going to care about soccer every so often, I like a little atmosphere to go along with it I'd rather hear the fans chanting.
  10. Is that what all that "buzzing" sound is behind the games? It sounds like a massive swarm of killer bees is hovering over the stadium the whole damn time. They're called vuvuzela horns. They're absolutely intolerable. Completely agree. Just looked them up. Looks like broadcasters and players are complaining about them too. I hope they ban them. According to The Sun fifa is looking into that.
  11. Once the US scores the game will really open up. Curious to watch Germany/Australia. Should be a good barometer for how good Germany is.
  12. I think we need someone up top how can also distribute the ball well to Landon and Dempsey, but I am not sure who that is if its Buddle or Findley. That was the one thing I noticed about Jozy yesterday. Most of his passes were weak and off target. Donovan can sneak into space. Findley's speed might not be a factor like you mentioned. Torres should start the next two games.
  13. The US is now in a must win on Friday. But Slovena don't look like a huge threat either.
  14. That's pretty harsh. Its only going to get worse. Not sure if he will get the chance to redeem himself.
  15. Carra was incredibly lucky not to be sent off. He committed three cardable offenses in 45 minutes. He was lucky not to break someones leg today. Not sure why he is even starting for England. Shows how much they lack at the back right now.
  16. All and all it was a good result. We were lucky to tie the game and unlucky not to take the lead. Jozy showed the flashes that he did against Holland when he destroyed King only to be denied by the post. Not sure why he went low on the shot going near post. Anything waist high and that goes in. Howard looked like he was auditioning for one of the major clubs in Europe. He was superb. The US needed more in the 1st half having almost 60% of the possession. Bradley missed an opportunity around the 70th minute to bring in Torres. They needed possession and the backline was tiring for England. He was more concerned about the point which I understand also. All in all it was a good day. edit: The US should have started Buddle and broguht in Findley late instead of the other way around. I think Buddle start on Friday.
  17. Like the picture http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2010/0610/soccer_usa_england_576.jpg
  18. I've been correcting my girlfriend for 6 months that its not points. Wondering if Gooch can go more than 60 tonight. A little worried about him being beaten in the 2nd half. You called the slow back line guess Bradley is going for the speed to beat them with Findley.
  19. Makes me miss Davies even more.
  20. My gut says its Clark, don't know why. The 1st 20 minutes are critical. I think if Demerit has a good game the defense will hold up. 100% agreed on Torres. No red's today please.
  21. I wont be surprised to see France tie all 3 games 0-0.
  22. I want Mexico to flame out in embarrassing fashion. France too, preferably, from Group A. This, I don't want Mexico going ahead of the US for a potential seed in 2014. Plus Mexico sucks.
  23. Mexico looks years better than SA in the 1st 5 minutes. They better settle down quick.
  24. Nelson Mandela's great-granddaughter was killed in a car accident yesterday after the concert. He won't be attending today they are saying now.
