  1. Rumor is that Landon will be allowed to return to Everton at the start of the new year.
  2. Not Cubs related but Bryce Harper played against Mesa yesterday. Went 1-4 with 2 rbi's.
  3. I'm excited to see what they and Durant can do this season. It's still hard to believe that Durant just turned 22 less than a month ago. Hell Demarco Murray is older than him ;-).
  4. I think people would be a lot more reluctant to lead with their head if their face wasn't protected as much as it is. In fact, pads in general just serve as instruments to inflict pain, not protect from it. I agree it would help, but like you had mentioned in another thread CB's use there helmets like a missle. A helmet to someones unprotected face will do a ton of damage, unless we go to the old school leather helmets, which would be really cool regardless of anything.
  5. Joe Pa wants to eliminate facemasks from helmets to make the game safer. Not sure that would work as the helmet will still do all the damage. Might as well and eliminate the entire helmet and not just the face mask.
  6. Its fun reminding all the Rangers fans at work about the Cubs 3-1 lead in 2003.
  7. Darvish said that he is planning on staying in Japan for another year. This is probably good for the Cubs if they want to make a run at him. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/baseball/mlb/10/19/japan.darvish.ap/index.html?eref=sircrc
  8. If that happens, it won't happen for long. The Players union will be pissed and already enough crap to figure out before next season starts.
  9. Well, the Monday night's match-up between the Cliff Lee led Rangers and the Yankees in New York was outdrawn by a terrible Monday Night Football game between Tennessee and Jacksonville. I can imagine MLB is dying for the Yankees to make the World Series. Just to contrast with their own stupidity. MLB's handling of the scheduling of the postseason is just laughably bad. What do you think they are doing wrong? Given the 8 team layout they work with, I'm not sure they could do any better. Seems to be the same as previous years too. I don't mind the schedule.
  10. I didn't realize that the Dodgers had that much money to spend with all of the talks of potential having to dump some players.
  11. I like this guy.
  12. Teixeira is out for 6-8 weeks.
  13. I thought Josh Hamilton was supposed to still be hurting at the start of this series.
  14. That 8th inning felt like Rod Beck was pitching.
  15. I'm almost surprised they didn't call that foul.
  16. welcome to the team! Have a seat, your agent will be with you shortly.
  17. I was at a restaurant with no sound. What was the reason for no replay?
  18. It's obvious now that the Cubs have hired Quade that either all the chatter about Girardi being the top choice was wrong or that he was the top choice but made it clear to the Cubs that he wasn't interested. Got it now? But why was the timing curious? It's been reported it could happen soon. Quade has made a ton of sense from the beginning and a lot of people more or less assumed he was getting the job. What was it about the timing that makes you think it's curious? It would be curious timing to name Joe Girardi manager right now. It's not curious to name Mike Quade manager right now. You must be from Oklahoma, so I will type slowly. There were a lot of indications in the media that Girardi was the top choice and that the Cubs wanted to wait to talk to him before going with Quade. Since the Yankees are still playing, it was curious timing to seemingly give up on Girardi before even having the chance to talk to him. now you've gone too far Just in case Jason White is reading this.
  19. Doug Melvin's going on at least 4. MacPhail has a nice little streak going outside of the Twins way back when.
  20. You talking about his contract? Yeah, his transfer request, the possible contract buyout, the Man City rumors, Fergie lying about injuries etc. Gorgeous. Rooney is [expletive]. He is a complete douche, biggest one since Gazza. That said I almost wouldn't mind if Arsenal used the Cesc money on him. But I am sure Wenger will just invest the money into CD or something. Edit: After thinking about I wouldn't want him on Arsenal as much as I just want Wenger to make a big splash somewhere.
  21. Imagine the rating juggernaut of a Rangers-Giants World Series.
  22. First pitch is 4:19 right? They could be done before, but that does sort of fly in the face of the the don't mess with the playoff games unspoken rule. Maybe they thought keeping your own guy wasn't a big deal. Seattle did announce their hiring of a new guy on the same day as game 3 of the ALCS. I thought it was only the WS they cared about with that rule. Anyways who cares about the people of Philly or San Fransisco.
  23. Yankees are getting their asses kicked. Why couldn't it be 3 games to 0.
  24. Yup. And he's been tearing up Mizzou since Nate Hybl was quarterback. At least. On the brightside, at the age of 30 this us Murray's last season.
  25. You talking about his contract?
