  1. I think him to Stanford makes sense for both sides. Petersen's had plenty of chances to leave Boise but it doesn't seem like he wants to go to a big name school like a Florida or Michigan (just throwing out a couple). That's not to say he will go, but I think Stanford would be the type of school he would be willing to jump to if he does leave Boise. There was some random talks this past weekend about Petersen maybe taking over at Texas once Brown retires in a couple of years. They have had some connections this past year and with Harsin coming over it seems a little plausible.
  2. So based on this FSU has offered 106 http://floridastate.247sports.com/Recruit/Index/2011/Football/Offers ND 104 http://notredame.247sports.com/Recruit/Index/2011/Football/Offers USC 98 http://usc.247sports.com/Recruit/Index/2011/Football/Offers Wisconsin 95 http://wisconsin.247sports.com/Recruit/Index/2011/Football/Offers Penn State and Texas seem to be on the low end at 53 and 28.
  3. I'd guess that number is closer to 30-40, but a lot are pulled when spots fill. I'm under the assumption that all the top programs are in the 30-40 range. I think the hit rate on scholarships for even the best places has to be 60-75%, right? Probably closer to 50%. If you only offered 20-25 every year, you'd consistently have 5-10 spots empty on your roster. I'm having problems finding the article (luckily its slow at work), but when you consider most of the top players recieve anywhere from 25-35 offers that hit rate is going to be a lot lower. Even 3 star players have a handful of scholorships to choose from.
  4. Just out of curiousity how many offers did Auburn hand out this year? i don't think having more offers out than spots open is unusual. Its not at all. I just find it interesting when teams hand out 100+ offers a year. Seems like this sort of thing would happen more often. Or maybe it does and we just don't see it. Most kids are probably more careful about announcing for teams that won't accept. Maybe he was hoping that the public announcement would guilt auburn into accepting him. Do they really make 100 offers a year? I need to find the article that I read last year in regards as to how many scholorships schools were offering. It was really astounding, and I had no idea that some were offering so many.
  5. Just curious, out of all the people that were traded how many were his picks? Only Guyer. Wilken's department did have significant input into the other three (Lee was signed under Wilken, Archer was traded to the Cubs under Wilken's watch, and Chirinos was switched to catcher after Wilken took over) This. Also, building up the group of arms (Cashner, Simpson, Jackson, McNutt, etc.) has made dealing Archer that much more easier. It is not like years past where it might be only one high ceiling guy then fall off quickly. Aren't we selling high on Archer too? It sounds like McNutt has always been the favorite in the organization where Archer struggled every year till this year when everything suddenly clicked.

  8. That run might be the one thing I remember from this entire season. Reminded me of some Earl Campbell type runs.
  9. He's already backed off the anti-corruption team he was talking about. His election is coming up soon too so now is a good time to start a campaign against him. The problem is he would just be replaced with another crooked bastard. Still I hope the BBC or whoever in England just goes on the attack against him.
  10. There is no way the Cowboys pass up on Peterson or he falls to 13th.
  11. Guess that will eliminate any chance of Dempsey to Liverpool.
  12. Eugene Starikov got called up to the US camp.
  13. Bryan Harsin to Texas is official as the CO-OC with Applewhite. Apparently they really hit it off yesterday and one of the reasons he is coming on board. I am really loving this new coaching staff.
  14. Given how they handled Auburn and OSU this sounds about right.
  15. With a freshman QB too next season. Will be sort of a rebuilding year for Bama.
  16. Sports Authority could be getting a cheap endorsement in a year or two.
  17. Which fully explains why he is tied to the West Coast. I'm sure his dad who was the president of the World League has no insight on what he should do either.
  18. If he played for Illinois you would be Tebowing his ass as we speak.
  19. trust me, luck will be a third-stringer/master holder in 5 years or he will be in the US house of representatives. he didn't want to play for carolina, anyway, and this stops you guys from drafting your 10th qb in 2 seasons. he's probably thinking the niners will have the first pick next year, but he's in for a culture shock anyways because he'll have to play more than a few games outside the state of california and the west coast in general. at least he didn't pull a john elway. Seriously?
  20. I would consider that to be good for Michigan. Plus when the time bomb in Pelini's head goes off I want to see it happen on the Nebraska sideline.
  21. This is awesome! http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/news/story?id=5998053
  22. Maybe Michigan still has a chance. :beg: Now that Luck is staying I would have to think he's more likely to stay at Stanford than go to Michigan. Agreed, but its like in Dumb and Dumber. "So you're telling me there is a chance"
  23. This. Why are folks down on Ricketts for trying to bring more money into the organization? And how is this somehow bad from a baseball perspective? Who the heck cares how they "brand" Wrigley Field, so long as they're putting the best team possible on the field. More $$$ in the bank = better baseball team. If you personally don't care to see soccer in Wrigley, then don't go. I personally love soccer. But USS has made the point that this might not be a financial slam dunk. And what hasn't been mentioned is that this would be going on in-season. Are they going to play soccer on the infield, or try to sod it and undo it in the matter of a week or so? Remember the concert they had at Wrigley that wrecked the OF for weeks? I don't care about how they brand Wrigley, but I think they're trying to shove a square peg in a round hole by trying to fit other sports like this. Add in that it might not be a worthwhile endeavor financially, and I don't really see the point. The notion that this might not be a worthwhile financial endeavor for the Cub doesn't hold any water. If it wasn't, then they wouldn't do it. It's safe to assume that if the Cubs move forward, it'll be on the grounds that there's enough money to be made on the event to make it worth their while to participate. It will make money for the Cubs but ManU can draw twice as many people at any other location. They will draw 75,000+ at an NFL stadium.
  24. It's not a good rule. There hasn't been anyone that benefited from this rule either, as every head coach that's been hired certainly was qualified with or without the rule in place. And in an instance like this, where Harbaugh is a high-profile "get", why you HAVE to interview anyone else seems redundant to me. That said, the Fins know the rules and before pitching Harbaugh, they should have already made their "courtesy" interview. Of course, they also should have went ahead and fired their head coach before doing any of this stuff to begin with, so they get a big FAIL all around. You would think they would have someone on staff currently that they could just call up stairs to interview. Is James Saxon still around?
  25. Not official, but it looks like Bryan Harsin and Major Applewhite will be co-OC's for Texas, of course Harsin will have the play calling duties. Between them Manny Diaz and Bo Davis the majority of the coaching staff are no all under 40. Huge upgrades all around from last years staff outside of Muschamp leaving.
