I don't think he wants to leave the Cards but I do believe him that once Spring Training starts negotiations will be cut off and he will at least test the FA market. He has already taken a home town discount in his last contract and deserves to be paid like he is the best player in the game. The hardest part to gauge is how high St. Louis is willing to go, they have built this franchise the last 10 years or so around pitching. Are they capable of going into the $120-$130 million range in payroll next season. There revenue will not be changing, they will not be building a new stadium, how will they support a rise of payroll from around $90 million to over the new level in 1 year time. Really Pujols owes nothing to the Cards he has done enough for them, but I do think he respects them enough to where he would not sign with the Cubs just out of principle.

Decent article on the oversigning of recruits. This should be a big area of focus for the NCAA, but of course it won't be. The biggest problem I have is that often times the schools are not being honest with the players during the recruiting process. Fixing this will allow the kids to make the right decision and go to the school they want or will actually have a chance to play at. Pujols could generate at least 4 times the revenue Fielder could. I don't know what that # is though or what kind of impact it would have.

OU has a similar chanel coming out soon and I am guessing other schools will follow suit, i'm sure the NCAA will step in and write some new rules as they should. I don't think the they should be allowed to feature recruits just to lure them to the schools.

I wouldn't hesitate. If there's anyone that can have sustained success in old age, it's Pujols (of course, he won't be worth $30 million at age 41). By 2022 he won't be the only player making this much either, Bryce Harper will be a Yankee by then. Give him an option to opt out after 5 years or so if he wants to try to sign one last contract too.

Is that just to say "[expletive] you" to TCU for leaving? That and the MWC has a vested interest in Boise winning. It can count both of them toward their application for an autobid this year, but only Boise will count in the next cycle, which includes this year. I see...I didn't realize that this year was counted in the next cycle. It would never happen, but it would be funny as hell if TCU declinded a BCS invite just to block the conference from recieving any money. I fully expect TCU to fight this somehow.

United looked like crap in the first half. EDIT: 2-1 now. The last 17 minutes are going to be good. Wow, two goals in two minutes for ManU and it's 2-2. [expletive], 3-2 United now. Arsenal are up 3-0, so they appear to be heading to the Carling Cup final.

That's an awesome move for UCLA. Really surprising move for Shannon though. Raisin, do you think Shannon could take over the program in a couple years? The new is still not confirmed. If not UCLA, he'll be a head coach somewhere in a few years. He's one of the best DC's in the game but I am not sure he is meant to be a HC. But he deserves another chance. I thought he was going to Texas, but the rumors were he didn't mesh well with Brown and the defensive formations he wanted to put in place.

I didn't buy them. I didn't want to end up taking a bath on them, so I just let the opportunity pass. If the Cowboys were going to be there, I probably would have gotten them because I would have enjoyed being there with the whole atmosphere and whatever. But, I just didn't want to take the risk that there would be too many of these on the market and end up losing money on the whole thing. Someone today at work mentioned they were going for about $325 now. Still I would not buy them, especially with these two teams being in it.
