This is correct. Although there's a bit of inconsistency; the exemption limit is 50 plate appearances, but the minor league eligibility limit is 200 at-bats. Agree - it doesn't make sense. We should have one or the other as the standard. The way this is setup you could have a player losing years of exemptions while playing in the minor leagues. That doesn't make much sense unless I'm missing something. Thats 50 plate appearances per season too. If he spends all of year 2 in the minors after burning an exemption he doesn't lose a 2nd exemption. I would agree the 200 ab's is too high as guys can stash away guys in the minors who are no longer there. I would drop that to 100 or so.

Considering what they did to Herbstreit this is not at all surprising. Sounds like Smalls his a little bit of a grudge against The Vest.

BTW - because Posey ends the year with 185 PA, I assume I don't have to burn his 2nd exempt year ? If I recall, the eligibility was 200 PA or 10 games started (for pitchers). Its actually 50 I believe, and 200 is the cap to be eligible for the minors.

I think that automatically occurs with them being on probation for the Men's Basketball team. We might not see them in a bowl game till 2016.

Very close to being true. And we both know those prospects will no do much for him next season. As loaded as the next prospect draft is going to be that pick is more valuable than most every prospect being offered today. Besides he doesn't need 15 prospects, he needs points next year too.

Unless you don't want to compete next year you need at least a 1st round pick in both the regular and prospect draft. All those players you mentioned won't get you in the playoffs till 2014 if ever.
