  1. Oh, clutchy you're so hot. Way to bunt it into right.
  2. Everytime I see Santana in a closeup I can't help but think he looks a little Asian.
  3. I don't think this article or book will have any effect. People made up their mind on Bonds long ago.
  4. Some would argue it matters more who you are as a person as opposed to how good you were at baseball. And I don't anybody has told people to not talk about what he did as a player.
  5. Jets should take it. Abraham will be good for about 10 games next year.
  6. I just realized where this was being played. I like that stadium. I toured it once with nobody around. I know some think this should be in a larger stadium, but I think the smaller capacity can be very good. For one, it artificially increases demand, because people know how hard it is to get tickets those who are interested will rush to get them. Plus, it guarantees a good packed house atmosphere. I think the WBC would rather see 10,000 in a packed house here than 30,000 in a half full Dolphin Stadium. Short-term, sure, you probably could have made more money in a bigger stadium. But for the longterm, I think this is best. Especially since you have to play 5 more games in 3 days, which will all likely be lesser demand.
  7. Clutchy doing what clutchy does best. Priceless.
  8. Depends on the cap and final cuts.
  9. I don't know, he was a late starter, and lots of those wrestlers were using for several years. Plus, many were into other crazy drugs at the same time. Look at the Hulkster, he probably used a lot more than Bonds for a lot longer time and is far from dead. Hell, Arnold supposedly used for 10-15 years, and that was back in the day of much less sophisticated drugs.
  10. I'm not an expert on the minors, but it seems from what I've read here, we don't really have the prospect package to compete with a lot of teams. Is that accurate? We have the talent to acquire Cabrera. Other teams would be able to trump us if they wanted. If we're the ones that are going all out and there's not much mention of other teams, it appears other teams aren't willing to do that. Yeah, lots of teams would have the ability to beat a Cubs offer, but the question is if they would have the willingness. Cabrera would be a fantastic final piece to the Cubs roster. But some teams with better systems than the Cubs are not 1 player away from greatness. The Cubs could find a package taht would be very nice and very difficult for others teams to be willing to go over.
  11. It looked to me like it was mostly Alfonzo's fault, turning and throwing blind. Throwing blind? He was planning on throwing to the base, where the SS should have been. It looked like he hesitated late when he saw the base unoccupied. Either way, Omar should have been on the bag, not 5 feet past.
  12. If tomorrow it came out and then 10 years later they died, I'm sure one of the topics discussed upon their death would be the negative sides of their lives. Kirby has not been worth talking about for quite some time. Unfortunately this has been the first time in a while his name was discussed, and people are rehashing what they remember of him. When Steve Garvey dies, people aren't going to just talk about the positive.
  13. Aramis backed out of the WBC. Beltre was named starter before Ramirez backed out.
  14. Is this Kip Wells news old? I'm seeing he is out until the All Star Break after some sort of injury. Is that right?
  15. I can't see them taking such a historic franchise as the Athletics. Maybe Twins, Marlins, Devil Rays, Royals. The Twins are a historic franchise, too. They were an original American League franchise when they were the Washington Senators. Two teams I can see getting cut. Four? No way. No teams will be cut. Moved maybe, but not cut. And they'll probably expand in 5-10 years.
  16. So Vidro, the incumbent, should be moved, and the new guy should get the job? Soriano will not lose a penny from a move to the OF. MLB is terrible at accurately assessing player value. Soriano will continue to get paid for what he did with the Yankees, as opposed to what he could do for his next team. The only way Soriano loses money next year is if he bombs offensively in DC. But if you then give him the right to be a malcontent, then you are giving every free agent to be pitcher the right to be a malcontent if he's in Texas, Colorado, Houston or some other bandbox. And you are giving every batter traded to DC, SD and the pitcher's park a right to demand a trade to a new team. Soriano isn't going to lose money by going to the OF. He is worth less to a team as an OFer, and teams would be stupid to sign him to a big deal as an OFer. But Soriano will get an offer for big money next year, regardless of what position he plays this year.
  17. Soriano is not an advantage for the DR. I'd take Utley every day.
  18. Again, this isn't his funeral. Why can't people talk about him openly? Why do people have to pretend he was some great person and not have the opportunity to discuss what kind of human he was? You can talk about whatever you like, but some people have respect for the deceased and don't use his death as an opportunity to talk badly about him. Maybe I missed it. Are people cheering his death? Are they celebrating his demise and clapping and damning him to hell? Where is the disrespect? They are choosing not to pretend he was somebody he is not. We're not at his funeral. We're complete strangers having a discussion. It's not disrespect to talk openly about a person's life.
  19. What has the team done for him? They are employing him and paying him an exhorbitant contract. What else could they do? You're looking at it from a fan's perspective. Look at it from Soriano's. He was guaranteed that money by the arbitration process. Someone was going to pay it. He gets traded w/o his consent (no veto power) and then is asked to switch positions, costing him money down the road when he hits FA. What has the team done for him other than take money out of his pocket? Again, what else could they do? They traded for him (something he should consider flattering), and trades are part of baseball. The position switch question has come up since he was a Yankee. They didn't just spring this on him out of the blue. And they aren't taking m oney out of his pocket. Soriano is going to get his money next year. What else could the team do for him? If Todd Walker was traded tomorrow, against his wished, and asked to play in LF, would he be justified to respond like Soriano? What would the team have done for him? He was already guaranteed his money from somebody?
  20. Lord help us if those 4 guys are ever atop the lineup in the regular season. Does anybody know where Dusty has been hitting Neifi in the order when he's played. I'd really like to see him use Neifi later, even in the spring, if only to make me think Dusty won't repeatedly misuse him again when it counts.
  21. I guess we just have a different perspective on it. I've always looked at death as a time to celebrate the person's life by thinking of and sharing the good memories that the person brought to you. Sure, for your friends and family. Kirby was a freaking celebrity. He wasn't some great statesman who made the world a better place to live. He was a highly paid athlete who was good at his sport and bad at some parts of the rest of his life.
  22. No, it's really not. People who do that are a little less than human. Oh get over yourself.
