Thats what I said!!!! But he does not even play on the school's team, although I did some digging and he played very well in high school (all state for 2 years). I think the Braves know something we dont. could be a steal.

Baseball America's latest blog posts seem to think that Vitters is going to fall to #3, and if he does, that the Cubs would take him over Parker. And the one right after that says that the Cubs and Parker were trying to work out a predraft deal for 2.35 mil. A pre-Aranged deal really does not mean anything. What the Cubs are trying to do is say if YOu are here at 3, and Vitters went 2nd. then you are our man, if vitters is here you aint the man.

This just crossed my mind. The Royals have Alex Gordon at third, and he will be there for a long time. Where else would Vitters project to play??? Tehan, and Billy Buttler are already the OF's of the future, unless the Royals want to DH him they have no reason to pick him.

For some reason I have a feeling most of us will be disappointed. I hope not but that's my feeling right now. They'll either take Parker - who'll end up bombing in the minors - or pull someone out their collective asses (who'll also ending bombing), such as Colvin last year. In meantime Vitters, etc. will go to have successful MLB careers. I think this sounds about right I'm just surprised they would even consider Parker after the Pawelak debacle. But I agree with you, I can see it play out exactly how you posted it. Pawelek is not a complete bust yet. He just needs to build up his stamina, and repeat his motion, if he can do that I expect Pawelek to be pretty good next year.

So it's MLB that is telling the Cubs what they can do? That's an interesting development. No excuse for not going over slot if the talent is worthy if the request is not coming from ownership. Thats how I feel as well.

Its official then parker is a cub.

Everyone who takes the mound and throws the ball is at risk of an injury. The only reason Parker would be a risk is if he is over-used early in his minor league career. Throwing the ball 98 MPH has little to do with it, especially sence he has been doing it for 2 or 3 years now. If he isnt overused, he will be a low injury risk with the way he releases the ball.

Cubs can do much better than Beau Mills, Josh Vitters, Jarrod Parker or Dudley Doolittle at 3, but unfortunately they won't. :x they really cant do much better than parker or vitt at 3 Wieters..............

I'd prefer him over Vitters I like him a lot as well. If he played division 1 baseball he would almost certainly be in consideration for the top 3 teams. But do to the lack of competition at the NAIA level compared to Div. 1, he would be a good mid first round pick for someone.

I dont think so. He has very good mechanics, and a very smooth, free and easy release. He is a very low risk to have an injury. very low risk? he throws a baseball from a pitcher's mound, which immediately rules out "very low risk." Plus he throws 98 mph in high school... how often do those types of guys not end up getting hurt? It matters very little how hard he throws the ball, it matters how you release the ball and how much stress your are putting on your elbow. If he threw across his body like some young hard throwers do, then yes there would be a very high risk for injury. Parker is straight over the top, maybe almost a 3/4 release, but not that low somewher ein between.

If Price does not go #1 to tampa (for signing resons), And your the Royals who have been said not being able to aford Porcello, and the Cubs are on the clock what do you do??? They have already said they do not want to exceed slot money, and with the Whold Trib. situation I think their hands are tied. D-Rays pick Vitters first Royals pick Parker Cubs pick well......... Not vitters, Parker, Wieters (cant "afford" him), Not Price (if not wieters),......... hummm.............. If that was the case (which I see is extremely unlikely) my guess is that the Cubs would try to strike a deal with the Tribune in order to make an exception, possibly in return a promise to cut salary elsewhere. It is very unlikely, but wow if they had the chance to draft price and pass on him that would just blow my mind.
