    I guess nobody wanted Claussen that bad. That was the perfect pick to trade. This is going to bruise Phin's ego. Doesn't he think Clausen is going to be the best QB ever? Not sure. I think he's going to be better than Bradford and Tebow. I'm curious about the Chiefs possibly taking him with the Weiss connection and all.

    Yes he was with the Cardinals then. He was called up from the minors for a spot start, threw a no-no, and was immediately sent back down again.He spent the whole year with the Cardinals. Had the 2 best starts of his career in a span of 3 starts. The no hitter and then a 2 hit shutout, both against Randy Johnson and the Diamondbacks. Johnson went 8IP 1ER 14K the first game and then 9IP 1ER 12K the second game.

    I don't know how his communication skills are, but hiring the best hitter the game has ever seen is probably a good idea.

    Not really. But, Kirby Puckett had the body of Dennys Reyes and played CF.

    From what I've seen, he's just lost velocity. 90-93 with that sink is a lot easier to square up than 93-96 with the same sink. He's never been a control pitcher so he's relied on velocity and movement. As that diminishes so does his effectiveness. But it's way too early to draw conclusions. At the end of the year he's probably going to be the same pitcher he's always been. 180 innings of 115-125 ERA+ ball. The worst thing that's happened to him (in the baseball fan's eyes) is his contract.

    I know. Being in MO I have a soft spot for the Royals. Die hard Cardinals fan, but the Royals doing well would be nice to see. I was excited about him taking over. Came from a good organization, seemed like a youthful enough guy, but good god. He must have been the little brother trying to fit in in Atlanta. They just kind of let him hang around hoping he would grow up knowing that eventually he was moving out.

    I gotta tell you, today's McGwire hysteria was too much. Every channel was like, McGwire this and McGwire that. It's pretty clear that he has not only ruined the St Louis Cardinals, but baseball as well.

    DeJesus 9 Podsednik 7 Butler 3 Ankiel 8 Guillen DH Bloomquist 5 Betancourt 6 Kendall 2 Getz 4 That's right. 6 players who had an OPS below .700 last year. Another, Podsednik, who has had an OPS below .700 3 of the last 4 years. That's with a 72.5 million dollar payroll. I think I can really honestly say that 95% of us could have constructed a better roster. I really have no idea how Dayton Moore still has a job.

    He was really only useful as a hitter against LHP. He still has good speed, but is just brutal defensively. The knee surgery really hampered his lateral movement.
