  1. Do the VSL playoffs start today?
  2. Surprised that the Cards didn't make a move for Navarro.
  3. why? There's no point in midnight. At least later in the day than 3pm. I remember sitting in the drive-thru at a Steak-n-Shake when the Nomar deal happened. Now, I'm just stuck in my office, pretending to work, while watching twitter/nsbb. The deadline was exactly the same during the Nomar deal. He didn't say he was sitting in the drive thru after 3pm.
  4. So, we got a 48th Round pick for Garza. I can't even admit to being wrong without the ridicule.
  5. Wow, was I wrong on the value for Kennedy. He was shipped to the Pads for a loogy, 17th round starter and a supplemental second round pick. http://www.baseballamerica.com/majors/diamondbacks-deal-ian-kennedy-to-padres-for-relief-help/
  6. Nope, he just has a compulsion to get people admit they're wrong when they say something obviously wrong. I said it earlier, before making the statement I didn't realize that Kennedy has regressed so much this year. I think I also undervalue Samardzia given his current numbers. Having said both of those statements, no way that deal goes down.
  7. I'll stand by my point --> if the DBacks trade Kennedy and Bradley to the Cubs for Samardzija I will be shocked. I would love it, but I would be shocked. I can't believe that Towers would be that dumb.
  8. I fully agree. I'm not trying to poop on everyone's parade but I'm not seeing the difference between the admittedly regressing Kennedy and the potential and upwardly trending Samardzija as being worth two top pitching prospects. If the rumors are true, I guess we will find out by the end of the day. I honestly hope I'm wrong. But you think Kennedy is better. I didn't realize that his 2013 was so different than his 2012/2011 seasons. I'll fully admit that I hope I'm wrong but I highly doubt that DBacks trade Kennedy and a top pitching prospect for Samardzija. Yes, Kennedy is not pitching well in 2013. Yes Samardzia is having a better year. Does that satisfy you goony? No. You are trying to avoid saying Kennedy is not better than Samardzija. Kennedy is not better than Samardzija. I hope that makes you feel better. If the DBacks trade Kennedy and Bradley/Skaggs (or both or better) I'll still be shocked. Are you a ND fan or something?

  11. And that is why I ask the question because I don't know.....is Kennedy hurt or something?
  12. How do you see Kennedy as better than Samardzija!?!?!? Ian Kennedy was a 2.3WAR player in 2012, 4.8WAR in 2011. 8K/9, 2BB/9 in 2012. 1.3WHIP in 2012, 1.03WHIP in 2011. 207IP in 2012 Shark was a 1.8WAR in 2012, 1.1 in 2011. 9K/9m 3B/9. 174IP in 2012 with a 1.295WHIP. 1.219WHIP in 2011 And in 2013? Yeah I get it, Kennedy is having a tough year and Shark is better in 2013 but the season isn't over yet. Both players are 28 and yes Samardzija has less mileage on his arm. Kennedy is also making 1.6M more this year. I get it but I'm saying that the difference in 2013 players isn't worth one or two of Arizona's top pitching prospects. I'm too lazy to look it up, but wasn't Bradley a top 5 prospect overall? I would be shocked (and pleasantly surprised) if Arizona traded Kennedy and Bradley/Skaggs for Shark.

  14. Am I nuts? I see Kennedy as slightly better than Samardzija and I can't see the DBacks giving up Kennedy and their top pitching prospect (perhaps another) for Shark. Is this purely a money thing? I don't see the benefit from the DBacks perspective at all. Is Kennedy hurt perhaps?
  15. How is it possible for a guy to have a "high-effort delivery" and still hit 95 "with ease"? Those terms seem to be contradictory.
  16. Surprised it took this long. He can be used as Exhibit 1 against paying big money for 16-year old Latin American free agents. I fear Luis Acosta and Mark Malave are on the same track.
  17. If the Twins offer Buxton and Sano for Shark....I do that deal in a heartbeat. I want Smardzija to remain a Cub but those two are blue chip, grade A prospects. No way the Twins make that deal.
  18. Yeah, I think people are generally letting his (surprisingly) good season last year bleed into how much production he's providing this year and how much he will bring next year at 38 years old. A non-contending team traded 1.2 years of a 37 year old 1 WAR player for a young prospect, $6 million freed up to allocate elsewhere in the offseason, and the opportunity to get a young playe some extended at bats for the rest of the season. I don't see how anyone could be "confused" by this trade. It's pretty simple. Fair enough
  19. No, I disappointed that they didn't get a better prospect in the deal. I don't know what the other options were though, or if there were any other options.
  20. Considering how much money the Cubs included in the deal, and the benefit received to the Yankees by structuring it so they stay under the luxury tax, I'm disappointed by this return. The Cubs received a low level prospect for Soriano (who is having a good year and will contribute to the Yankees), $18M, plus saving additional money by staying under the luxury tax. Yes, the $24M was a sunk cost from the Cubs perspective, but the Yankees received a significant benefit through this deal.
  21. Link :clapping: :yahoo: Awesome!!
  22. Love it. This guy is a cheating, scumbag douche. Glad he finally got what was coming to him. I wonder if Aaron Rodgers will tweet that he was wrong....
  23. If the Cubs are paying that much money, they should try to get more than a "mid level prospect". They shouldn't be desperate to trade Soriano either way, but if they do decide to move him *and* pay most of his salary, they need to get something of significance back.
  24. Pierce Johnson hasn't pitched since 7/11. Is he hurt?
  25. According to BA, Robert Whitenack was waived in April and signed with the Indians. I thought he was still recovering from TJS and had some potential. Did I miss something?
