  1. id rather have a good offensive catcher. put in some offensively useless catcher who is good on D and your basically conceding an extra out in the lineup. for the amount of whining about the cubs offense on here that would not be a good tihng
  2. jacque jones is a worthless human being
  3. we are WITNESSES to the an overhyped player
  4. umps + braves > cubs way to go MLB.
  5. white sox close to a world series? i want some of what gammons is on....must be wild
  6. i have heard people with concussions use better reasoning than this ump. he better get fined and suspended.
  7. it would be really therapeutic to see alomar hocking a loogy in that chubby umps face. anyone have a youtube of that?
  8. umpires are the scum of the earth. send them to al qaeda in iraq.
  9. That's a huge red flag for me. The guy isn't going to learn plate discipline with the Cubs, and he isn't going to handle those pitches against pros. If we have another 4:1 K:BB guy on our hands, he won't help at all. its a real red flag when a prospect is compared to vlad guerrero.... It's a red flag to me when people talk about a guy's ability to hit a pitch thrown anywhere. The reason is that Vlad and very few others have been able to carry over that skill into major league success. If they think he can hit all sorts of pitches, that means he swings at all sorts of pitches. And aggressive free swingers don't exactly flourish in the Cubs system. Having the ability to hit anything is nice and all, but if you're confident in your ability to do so, major league pitchers are likely to exploit that. It makes me think of guys like Pedro Felix and Ty Wiggington, guys who may be halfway decent in the counting stats, but are brutal in the rate stats thanks in large part to free swinging low walk taking approaches. it clearly says he can handle any type of pitch, not swing at any type of pitch. it says nothing about being a free swinger.
  10. And? That's the point. The Cubs don't develop hitters. just look at pie

  12. lebron with 2 assists and 5 turnovers. 4-15. 14 pts. and the announcers are talking about how great he is. right..
  13. i can think of some pretty funny things to say here, mostly relating to limiting his food intake
  14. maybe they should start suspending umpires for baiting players and initiating contact?
  15. meh, his development isnt going to take him that MUCH further IMO. He is physically mature (hell he was at 17), and he will never be the most agile. He will improve some more, but i dont think he has that much talent that hasnt been already realized. he matured pretty early (in hs) and will prolly get to his peak early as well.
  16. wow, i just tuned in for the 4th. this officiating is absolutely disgraceful. literally gibson pushes prince to the floor and prince gets a foul
  17. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=wojciechowski_gene&id=2890891&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1[/quote the truth becomes to leak slowly? everyone has known about both those things for sometimes. Zambrano is the tool who calls out teammates when he is the one blowing it.
  18. whats the point in even playing games where its close past the 7th when the cubs bullpen is involved? the cubs will lose everytime. none of these guys hendry hand picked can get an out.
  19. i really wish zambrano had gotten all the injuries prior has had. he really deserves them.
  20. The cubs need to dump him. I just can't see him being a long term stud #1. That and when he doesn't do well he seems to take it out on teammates.
  21. just curious, who would replace barrett IF we did get rid of him?
  22. barrett deserves some of the blame. Z gets most of it. Knowing Z's history, he clearly is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It would not suprise me if he made a stupid mistake and tried to pawn it off as Barrett's mistake on the signs. Also who knows why Barrett went back down there? It is possible that Z was yelling things and trying to instigate things further. It seems like Barrett may have a temper when things get physical, so it may have been on his own.
  23. i would go after my catcher too if he stunk as bad as barrett. but thats just me. what would you do if your pitcher was as bad as Z then? hannibal lecter-esque stuff?
  24. Sometimes you have to own it. First Barrett calls for a pitch and gets crossed up Then he makes a really stupid play to compound the already stupid cross up. I looked to me like Z was telling Barrett to use his head. And Barrett told Z to not suck so much. Perhaps Zambrano should "own" the fact that he can't get anyone out instead of blaming Barrett? what a turnaround for Zambrano. he was looking at a big contract........and now he looks like a maniac going after this catcher because he stinks
