  1. It is going to beautiful when the cards realize they suck, and nose dive in the standings.
  2. Yah, 35 HR is perfect for the 8 spot. I'll take the under on that. Either way, he has a ton of a power and is not best suited for the 8 spot.
  3. Thats no good. But i can't help but laugh at fielder trying to run
  4. The FNL guy and Costas come off as very ignorant. They don't seem to know the difference between a blog, and the comments on a blog.
  5. Calgary didn't choke. They were lucky to get it to game 7.
  6. I don't think it's really a crapshoot. It's not science, but some organizations and coaches/executives are better at finding and developing QB talent than others. The Bears, Angelo, Lovie, Turner and the gang are very bad at it. I'm not sure a QB has a higher chance of busting than any random player at any other position late in the draft. Who is it that are better than others?
  7. I can't stand people that take the opportunity of the draft to just bash Grossman. And if Angelo thought it wasn't a very good QB class, why should he waste a pick on them? He signed two guys as free agents, thats good enough for me (Kiper was on ESPN and he seemed really high on the guy out of Colorado State). Drafting a QB is a crap shoot no matter who you are, unless you end up with a Peyton Manning type prospect of course. The fact is that a ton starting QBs in the NFL were undrafted FAs, or very late round picks. Why waste picks on a guy like Dixon? He has a higher chance of busting than if you spend it on a DT or a safety etc.
  8. Hatcher is a moron. But Flyers still won. It never ceases to amaze me how good dmen like Hatcher and Pronger do stupid things like that at such important times.
  9. that was an awful call on richards. he had kovalev lined up and the russian tried to jump out of the way and its a penalty????
  10. Dude announces for a team in Cincinatti. In other words hes a nobody from nowhere, who cares.
  11. the second goal was arguable - it's either interference if you think the flyer player pushed the goalie into the goalie, or a no call and a good goal. as for the game winning goal, if you don't think that was a tripping penalty, then you're basically saying the referees shouldn't call penalties in playoff overtime. There shouldn't be penalties called in a playoff OT, unless they take away a scoring chance. It was a joke to call that after what they let go so far in the OT and the last 5 minutes of play.
  12. What a joke. Philly's 2nd goal shouldn't of counted, then they get a BS penalty in overtime in a game 7.
  13. I have to give Avery credit, obviously won that battle vs. Brodeur. He is a smart guy and a great agitator
  14. i don't see how you can say this with a straight face. he's not a selke winner but he's a solid defensive forward. he could kill penalties effectively if need be. Richards is really good, but i wouldn't put him with the elite in the game yet. i'd say he's on the second tier with guys like Marleau or Koivu and so on. That's not a knock on him...but the big thing for me is he has to prove this is really him. Is this a career year or what we can really expect (offensively, defensively i can't see him regressing unless he gets hurt or something). Pretty much. And some guys like Crosby just aren't asked to PK because their ice time would be better used towards creating offense. Being a good penalty killer isn't very hard - it is something that anyone with good hockey sense, the ability to learn a system, and above average speed and strength can accomplish. Being a great defensive player in my opinion is embodied by Samuel Pahlsson. For and away the best defensive player in the game. Of course he won't win the Selke ever because the Selke is given to "the best two way forward who can kind of play some D but puts up at least 55 or so points" not the best defensive forward.
  15. just a bit meh. i'll take 30 goals, 50 assists, better leadership, defense and checking, plus a 2nd pairing defenseman ($2.5M) over 35-40 goals and 80 assists. call it a matter of preference in terms of resource allocation. Crosby is 3 years younger and already a better all around player. At his peak Crosby will blow Richards away. Crosby doesn't shy away from physical contact, similiar to Forsberg. He is going to be one of the best players in the history of the game. I wouldn't trade him for a marginally above average 1st line center and a #4 dman. better all around player? you say he doesn't shy away from physical contact, but he certainly doesn't seek it out either. that's not really a criticism, but i see ovechkin get his nose dirty a lot more often than crosby. richards is an excellent defensive forward who is our top penalty killer; crosby doesn't play on the PK at all and is average in terms of backchecking. richards fights and checks more than crosby as well. i'm not saying that richards is a better player; crosby is better because he is so talented offensively. but to say he is a better all-around player is simply wrong, unless you are defining that term differently than i am. No, he is better all around. Throwing checks and fighting doesn't make someone good. Just because Crosby's role isn't to penalty kill doesn't mean he isn't a good defensive player. He is very good at creating takeways and turnovers from what I've seen, and with his speed and strength will only get better with age. Like I said, Richards is a good player. Put Crosby is a generational talent. No comparison, regardless of a guy playing a different role on his team (PKer etc.). Richards is a good center, but compared to the best centers in the game (Crosby, Thornton, Datsyuk, Malkin) he isn't one of them. I see him as a Marleau type.
  16. wow i really can't believe the reactions to that play. guys like holmstrom do this every game, theyre just less obnoxious and obvious about it. but you hear all these canadian talking heads saying they're embarrassed for the game of hockey, sean avery's family and the entire human race. give me a break. not just that play. he's still talking about brodeur's divorce, 5 years after it happened? avery's a scumbag. meh not suprising. happens all the time in hockey. see below NSFW:

  18. just a bit
  19. boston is outplaying montreal in 3 of 4 games, but is down 3-1. too bad they have no finishers, nothing better than watching the habs lose
  20. Your joking right? Outside of Luongo Vancouver isn't very talented. The Sedins are second line players, and have proven they can't handle first line duties. The hawks have a far superior set of forwards. The D is basically a push, although Vancouver's D is more experienced and has a little more depth. Again, besides Luongo Vancouver is not close to a playoff team in the west.
  21. I'm not sure even the most rampant homer could class winning the season series 9-6 as owning (or even pwning). Especially when we consider that there were 9 games played at Wrigley compared to 6 at Miller Park... I'm jus' sayin'. Does it matter? there are a ton of cubs fans in milwaukee for the games anyway, all the games are basically home games for the cubs, or at least neutral.
  22. felix pie says hi Is that a joke? Come on. why? he has the potential to be good some day. but right now he isnt very good.
